I have cousins in Pakistan who are 30+ yrs old & unmarried. The unemployment rate is really high & a lot of young men wait around ages for jobs & end up delaying marriage. They buy net cards & use up most of their internet time in an endless cycle of watching pornography & masturbating & often fall into Zina. It's disgusting, but it's their parents fault too to not realize that the youth is really sexually frustrated. Rather than have one's kids desensitized to the jahil porn industry among other things, let them at least have a nikkah. They can delay walima until they find employment. اَلله will always help those who refrain from haram out of fear of Him. I dua for my Ummah. Mufti Menk's lectures are always on point MashaAllah.

bagshitass Good point. I do not mean the parents are always to blame, I realize every situation is different. Parents want what is best for their children & sometimes they do not fully understand the scope of the problem. And I may be biased based on the current marriage situation based off of my family back home. But to a certain extent, parents should realize that it is ridiculously unrealistic for them to have a kid sitting at home at 34 whom they expect not fall victim to the temptations of the opposite gender. Especially considering that the parents themselves were often married quite young & perhaps did not have the same obstacles & temptations that their offspring face.

proQurn You are correct. I agree with you that the society didn't have this much evil back at the time when our parents got married. The young generation is facing temptations that is really hard to resist. Pornography, free mixing are so easy and available that a person with a little weak faith will get tempted and end up committing sins. It is a very hard time and there is this pressure of getting established. 14 yr 15 yr old kids end up losing their virginity. So , parents are of course responsible to some level. But protecting ourselves from pornography, saving our chastity is also our individual duty. So, may Allah forgive us as well as our parents and make marriage easier for us.

I am 30 I am single living in London UK with my parents, I have done MBA and MSC and my family is looking for a good pious girl and a decent family. I am a British Citizen therefore Visa is not a issue at all. I do not want to delay further I am fighting with Satan everyday. I do not drink do not gamble do not smoke. I am a very obedient Son and would like to live with my parents after marriage and this is the problem with most of the girls. Make a Dua for me my brother and sisters

With an MBA and MSC, do yourself a favor and maybe don’t live with your parents if you can afford to still take care of them or they are not really ill ? Putting yourself in a position to do something like that and you know it’s making it more difficult for you to get married when it’s not mandatory could open the path potentially for you to be tempted and haram. It is not mandatory in Islam that you do that and it could possibly spell problems. I am not hating on living with your in laws; I’m actually getting married and going to live with my in laws, InshaAllah. It’s my personal choice but I am also well aware many many women don’t want that and with good reason. It could spell many problems and she wouldn’t feel comfortable always speaking out because she may not feel like it is her home. Either way, may Allah give you what you’re looking for InshaAllah if he has not already! May Allah give you what is best for you, InshaAllah.

Mufti menk=my favorite speaker he always addresses issues in a scholarly manner and gives good advice

If my son is 18 I'll rather let him marry then let him fall into zina. No reason why I can't help them further (like pay for college) after they're married.

Ni Blue "Convert for me"- that is not right, but let him convert and become practicing and then when ur content that he values his religion and truly left his previous religion, then approach marriage, and of course don't stand him up and then say u can't marry him for whatever reasons, its betrayal which maybe is not provable by law but Allah is the most just and u could pay for the betrayal later in ur life.

The parents are just scared. But we just have to do it with the right person who respects you.And even better only with your husband. If all people would stick to their spouse. There would be no aids. No std's we made those stuff ourselfs.. and then we blame god that humanity is fucked up. He gave us a book to guide but its up to ourself. Thats the battle they call jihad (struggle) the greatest jihad is the one with ourselfs. Non muslims and muslims. We all have that struggle with our own mind sometimes

rockers0ul The generation gap is really unprecedented, considering there was no schools and collages of that sort, and also the advent of media and net redefined our choices and characteristics to look in a person, which can be dangerous most of the time and injustice to the ppl who don't fit in this description, u can say for hundreds of yrs u had a similar routine but suddenly in late 20th and 21st century it has change dramatically, and the gap is yet to be closed, but might take few decades more, the hypocrisy is the parents that want their children to get married late themselves got hooked earlier, so they too are affected by this culture but there are irregularities and hard adaptations to be done, for example in western countries where they can get married late as they are engaged in fornication, and therefore they easily adapt to the framework as they are able to fulfill their desires, now bringing this frame to eastern lands brings problems, coz intermixing is prevalent and naturally opposite genders are going to be attracted, the problamatic phase is parents sending kids to collage and universities and act as sahabas at the same time,well just to be practical and not utopian, ppl are going to develop feelings automatically and sometimes the image of certain students just will loop in the heads for many days, whether they want it or not, So the best option that parents can adopt is marrying the kids when they are mature even if they are in their education and not restrict this act, or fornication will be prevalent, but of course have right to object if they bring colorful personalities with no religion or culture or financial standpoint, so there has to be compromise from both sides if our religion is to be saved coz when fornication becomes prevalent, religion is the first to fall like we see elsewhere.

Gulsen Bello the Qur'an (ISLAM) stipulates that a man is responsible for the maintenance of his wife or wives. If a man has more than one wife, he has to provide separate living accommodation for each of his wives. Multiple marriages are a heavy responsibility on the male. It is not a pleasure trip as some people may assume. Some even imagine all kinds of sexual exploits involving a man and his wives altogether. However, such activity is not permissible in Islam. A man must divide his time equally among his wives. He may, for example, spend one night with each wife on a rotating schedule. If a man cannot maintain justice in the treatment of his wives, the Qur'an stipulates that he is to have no more than one wife.

Gulsen Bello in easy way if some body fulfill the rights of his wives equally can marry up to four wives. There are some situations in which it is advantageous to society to have men marry multiple wives, and for this reason polygyny is practiced by many religions and cultures. polygon is permitted in the Bible too. Here we will see that the Qur'an permits only a restricted and limited form of that practice. Only 2% of Muslim marriages are of this nature.

Love and respect. there are more woman on earth then man. its only allowed if you love them all qually and Thats almost impossible but its not forbidden. If u know what it takes to have more wives then 1. Its a big responsible job and its not for everyone. Thats why the most muslims just have one wive. And rather a man have two wives then that he cheats while he is married. And again its not for everyone. But i understand why some people choose polygamy. Its their own choice if not. Its not islam. Quran says : let there be no compulsion in believe. So there is no forcing in islam. My parents and his kept delaying because of finances, one day I had enough savings so I decided to do the nikah and pay, his family turned against me for apparently rushing the wedding when we were engaged for 2 years they diddent do anything , they told him he should have waited longer and they would have had a big wedding , even though I’m happy with my small wedding and not delaying it further , they now refuse to do a walima for me because they hate me. Mufti menk is right this generation is completely lost

Ive just seen this and Alhamdulillah i thank you Mufti menk for your practical reasoning... all u have said is immensely true ..most of our parents make decissions for their children not even considering that we belong to Allah before we were given to them. I pray that Allah makes t easy for all those who want to marry ..so that they get good partners who are passionate about Allah ... sometimes u may not know but you may be the reason someone enters janah and accepts islam. our parents demand that we complete not only college but university before we are even spoken to about marriage. by the time i finished, they informed me of the last proposal i had, i was 25 and felt stuck, mostly frustrated that they refused to inform me about the 20 or so good options that had passed because they had decided "i need to finish school first". im really stuck now, saying yes to a guy that doesnt even respect women. thanks mom and dad!

But the point is hardly anyone can't follow such simple actions. Generally in most cases, people make their own lives harder than it actually is because they give into their temptations quite easily without thinking about the consequences, which leads them to sin. Its funny how some advice are so basic and yet the majority cannot seem to follow it even in 2017. I'm starting to think some people like to create their own chaos or can't even help themselves.

Make dua for me please. I’m 20 years old & want a halal engagement & inshallah married in 2 years. I found a very righteous Muslim girl who will be perfect for me. But my father denies her because of her family. He told me too look elsewhere but she’s all I looked for in a wife. Please make dua for when I ask my father again to accept.

Such true words. I have a cousin who is in a relationship with a girl, his parents have made it clear that show them he is ready to take the responsibility and they will go for ask for her hand. He is I think 21 years old. Wish more parents are like that.

mi comment is about love love: don't be select a non-muslim when ur Muslim bcz of it's really disgusting to change them in to muslim.now a days they actually didn't no that "what is Islam " "what is Quran " how they can really be a realistic Muslim (acting as a Muslim for the sake of hus&wife) so when u love someone u should choose correct he or she is in "Deen" or not .
