SHIT, they dead. That was probably them, it was an SOS call. TLDR: Common sense with emotion lacking voice acting.

C Clear Nope, that doesn't in any way exclude possible, and at that point unconfirmed variables. What if the caller was a prankster and this just happened coincidentally? What if the original caller is long gone, and this was the next victim? What if this was actually a suicide, or an accident... At best he could logically say that it MIGHT be a murder, and the way he said it indicated certainty, soooo... Nope.

Damn. This game seems either really interesting or really cringy. Let's hope it's the first option.

Sidhe is pronounced Shee. Its Gaelic. And the Sidhe are the faerie folk of Ireland. The Bansidhe (or Banshee) is literally woman of the faerie, though yes, she heralds those about to die with her keening.

It is using Gaelic, I'm not sure if it's Irish or Scots though. Samhain, is pronounced "Saw-won" It's Halloween, sort of Sidhe is pronounced "She" In fact banshee was originally spelled Bean Sidhe

I never appreciated Gaelic until I moved to Southern Ireland (pre-smart phones). Good god I got lost those first few weeks (months :p). I pronounced everything like a right ass, and local people couldn't help me if I wanted because I had no idea I was pronouncing everything so badly. I got trapped in the town of Youghal (Irish Gaelic pronunciation: Yull, Me: You- Gail) for week trying to get to Dun Laoghaire (IG: Dun Leery; me: Dune Loag Hair). Now it's funny, at the time I thought I was loosing my mind! Bless modern technology 😂

+Chris Parris For me, it's completely lacking interest. The only reason I'd continue playing this game (or watching Cry play it in this case) is because I am so confused, but I'm feeling more inclined to just look up the plot and spoil it all for me in a five minute sitting, rather than waste hours of my time with it. And what's with the pacing? Sure, a lot of people (especially those who prefer gameplay that come from games like this) don't like getting tossed a ton of exposition and other story elements when hitting play, but this is just ridiculous. The opening was great. It was interesting up until the end of the cliff scene. But then it all fell apart. "I've gotta go to the beach." Ok, I guess I'll make you walk to the beach, then. Who's this girl on the beach? Is she important to the story? Is she a resident at Doolin? Are there residents at Doolin? What? Oh, I guess where at the next scene now. A house. Ellen passed out, and the other chick is nowhere to be found. I mean, I assume that's who brought Ellen here, since she was the only one there when Ellen passed out. But she's not there. And there's this weird voice in Ellen's head telling her to go to the pub. So I guess that other chick wasn't important to the story, then (I really don't guess this, but the story so far is sure making it seem like this). Now Ellen's at the pub, and there's these weird creatures called halflives there. Ok. Uhh. She isn't reacting to them at all. They're telling her what they are, and their names, and that there's one called Scarecrow waiting outside the pub for her. But...she isn't reacting to them at all. She just wants to find her mother. Are halflives a common thing that people know about in this game's universe, thus don't phase her, or does she have the emotional capacity of a brick? Ok, so now there's this Scarecrow halflive telling her to go to the henge. I guess she's going to the henge now. Still no reactions from her, and the only thing she seems to say is "I need to find mother." Welp. Now we're getting some weird cloak to enter the Netherworld. What's this skeleton? Why is it attacking her? What happened to it? Did Scarecrow attack it (way to visually tell a story in a visually-told story, Game Republic). Still wondering what it was and why it attacked Ellen, but I guess that doesn't matter, because now we're in the Netherworld. Ellen's still not reacting to anything. Her only motivation, and her only dialogue remains "I need to find mother." Seriously, the story so far seems like that of a primary schooler's writings. You know, how they have the story in their head, making perfect sense, but they don't quite understand that they need to write EVERYTHING down in order for others to know what's going on. Also on the topic of the story, there are linear games...then there's this. And Ellen's character development is solid thus far. The "I need to find mother" schtick made sense in the opening, but if that remains the only thing driving her for most, if not all of the game, I'm going to be bored out of my wits. I mean, it'd make sense, if we actually cared, because then we'd use that same motivation to keep playing. Without character development, we don't care. She doesn't react to these out-of-this-world entities (or, at least, we're not told that she shouldn't be reacting by being told that these entities are commonplace in this game's universe). She doesn't even remember anything about her mother besides a book and a pendant. I don't know a lot of things about a lot of my close relatives. Doesn't mean I want to go looking for them. Even if my mother was one of them, I wouldn't want to find her. Because I wouldn't care. And Ellen's memories don't give her much reason to care. So far, Ellen seems like a zombie husk set to automatically walk forward forever, with the story pointing her whichever direction it wants her to go. Then, even though she's walking automatically, it continues to push her along, just 'cause. It's got a 9/10 rating, so there has to be something good about this game. And since gameplay isn't solely what makes single-player RPGs, that something good has to be the story, but based on the content shown in this video, I'm having a hard time believing that anyone with even a semi-developed brain would rate this a 9/10 or higher. Literally the only reason I'll continue watching Cry play is because of that rating. And that's a poor way to motivate people to play (or watch people play) a game. It's no wonder Game Republic isn't around anymore.

+PyroOfZen The concept is there for me; like, I get where they're going and it makes sense in a way. I think the weird part is that it has literally all the pieces there are for a good game (decent starting plot, interesting characters, a cool little niche ie the "magic girl" aspect, and a little mystery so you can't really tell where it'll end) but for some reason all the pieces together put me off in a way. I think this is one of those games where if the story doesn't shine through, the game is going to be garbage.

I played folklore a few years back, saw it as a recommended game in the back of an old copy of deathsmiles or something and I had to play it. I loved the gameplay but couldn't beat a boss in the underwater city level so I dropped the game for a few years and came back to it a few months ago. This game man. This fucking game. I finished the game a little before the school year started and my god, it was a roller coaster of emotions. I am looking forward to seeing this playthrough ^.^

This actually seems like a really cool game, tbh. The fact that there's no sound in the dialogue outside the cutscenes so Cry can read it makes it even better. ^^

Ok first of all Cry, I love you for actually going through these lenghts of buying the games you want to play. I know alot of richer/more well known KZread LPers who seem to pirate everything they can, while in alot of cases buying the game would of been easier. They could have even just sent a mail with 'yo free copy plz'... So yeah you rock whoop! Also I'm at 1:56 now and this is already the best game ever. I'm not sure if I can handle more than two minutes a day of this without getting too exited xD

ahhh! I played this game like 5 years ago, such an underrated, actually more of a precious gem of a game. Watching this makes me want to play it again. You're gonna love it Cry. :)

It makes me feel so sad and gross because I watched about all of his videos as a kid. I get very sentimental about the past and want to feel nostalgic but knowing what he did it makes me sick to my stomach. I just feel like an idiot for spending so many hours of my life on this kind of man you know? it hurts. this place is like a graveyard now. I miss when things felt pure, even if they weren't. I hate this.

This was one of the first games I played on my PS3....barely remember anything though since it has been so long. First time watching one of your videos. Enjoying it so far. Thanks for the nostalgia. :)

I played the demo of this game at walmart when it first came out and loved it and now i can finally play it thanks to you. Asura's Wrath: The Chick Flick

Can I just say, I know some people say Morgan Freeman has the most soothing voice but honestly, I've put on some of Cry's series (that I've already finished) when I have trouble sleeping and I get really good sleep those nights. Like Fragile Dreams, it's a really nice one.

Cry around 6 years ago I had a PS3 and I played this game, but I never go to finish it because my PS3 got the red light of death and to this day I still have this game, almost brand new, on my nightstand. I have always dreamed of finishing it or experiencing the game. I just want to say thanks since I can't wait for you to play and finish this game I couldn't be happier if anyone else but you played it. Thank you!

Whoa, I haven't thought about this game in a long while. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but I have so many fond memories playing this. I love how mysterious and whimsical it is. And I love Cry's reaction to the "magical girl" sequence. :P

lucky to have a gaming mother? yes it is now a days she plays facebook games but when i was young and before that she played alot of amazing games she Played and beat Final fantasy 7 8 and 9 in front of me she also DID EVERYTHING IN THEM all side quests and stuff toke her weeks for each game also she played Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 so she was a RPG fan

dageezerboi Dude. Fucking.... It's not copying. I thought we were over this. Sometimes it's a new game that EVERYONE wants to play ( see: Amnesia - The Dark Descent ). Sometimes one popular KZreadr will reccommend a game they're playing to another popular KZreadr, and they both end up LPing it. Sometimes it's purely coincedence. But do you HONESTLY think that KZreadrs who are already well-established with hundreds of thousands of subscribers genuinely feel the need to leech off of another's success? In what world does that make sense? And frankly, if you ARE a let's player, you're probably playing the games YOU want to play. Because people dont do this just for the money. They do it because they found out they could make a career out of doing something they love - playing video games.

Atticus Zed I can't argue with your first paragraph. Purely coincidence may be pushing it though.. Your second point, yeah I do. It is called GREED. I think they all follow each other and look at what makes views in fear of losing said views. It works from the top down. Thirdly I disagree completely. All the top youtubers are playing sub standard indie crap. Do you really think they want to be playing the like of 'happy wheels'? No. Initially they played the games they wanted to play for fun and their own interest. Now they do it because it is their job and it is a quick fix to keep their subscribers happy. You don't see ANY small LP'ers playing the crap these guys do because they do it for a hobby and not a job.

dageezerboi​ Well of course that's the thing. You get over a million people watching you...........ONE. MILLION. PEOPLE. Can you even imagine starting a lets play channel for kicks and suddenly have a HUNDRED people interested in what you're playing EVERY DAY? Then a THOUSAND? Then TENS OF THOUSANDS??? Its no wonder guys like Markiplier have broken down in tears during thank you videos. That must be insanely impactful. And just for playing video games and talking over them. And then imagine going from being some nobody with a facecam to a top-name KZreadr with millions of subscribers. Millions of people judging you, criticizing you, and of course you'd start to get self-conscious. I dont think that most of these guys do this out of greed. They're not some two-faced hollywood celebrities that would set their children on fire just to stay in the public spotlight. I think a lot of them are just regular guys that got a lot more than they ever bargained for, and are trying to satisfy the fans out of a sense of.....a sense of responsibility, I imagine. That's how it would probably be if I found myself in their shoes...

It's been minute but here i am again rewatching cry's playthroughs

Am really excited to see you do a let's play for Folklore! I loved playing this game and now I can experience it again. Has such a great atmosphere and feel to it. And I laughed at the pokemon references. Always thought the gameplay with capturing folks and elemental weaknesses reminded me of it too... lol Love their designs and concepts though. And some of the realms were just awesome to roam about in.

Oh GOD YES. Someone finally plays folklore. this came out the 1st year the ps3 came out and it was my favorite game on ps3. Story is amazing and complex. and gameplay style is interesting. so glad someone finally played this. its one hell of a ride Edit: also i have always loved the music of this game.

the graphics in the cutscenes are great omg I love the character design
