And just after knocking out Kabbu's allies with one chomp each. That shows it was all a sadistic setup - The Beast _could_ have killed them right away, but then its presumptive dinner would lack the delicious seasoning of _crushed hope._

The climax part of the song really hits hard on how Kabbu's desire for revenge is taking over

this song fits SO well with Kabbu’s desire for revenge since you’d never really see this side of him and more use to his kind and caring one.

He overcomes it by the end though and is ironically when he's strongest, allowing him to beat the Beast.

I love how up until this point, you've tangled with a nature goddess, a flying robot with missiles and lasers, and a mummy with magic powers, while this boss is just a centipede.

After looking up the irl "Killer Centipede" (or "Red Centipede"), I can totally see why they used it as a boss. I mean come on, have you seen the irl red centipede? It's terrifying! Imagine being the actual size of Team Snakemouth and having to fight this thing!

Beedrill. Vi has needle attacks, Combee doesn't have any needles. Plus Vi use poison skills, Beedrill is poison type

@@Kijaw Vi uses poison when you have a medal equiped.

Despite Kabbu’s nature the entire game, he went mad during this fight. I had Kabbu set up to take the absolute brunt of the teams damage, Badges like Favorite One, higher defenses using poison, and keeping most of the damage in his direction with taunt so Vi, and Leif got buffs from him protecting them from attacks, but this fight towards the end had me struggling to dish out damage because usually Vi, and Leif dish out the punches. It took my strategy and threw it on its head, I’m glad the poison kept my defense up otherwise I would’ve lost....This is the only time he’s been Selfish and it almost made it terribly difficult for me.

I love how the only characters that can make Kabbu mad is the beast that literally killed his friends, and Mothiva.

Oh, this poor boss. Oh this poor chapter. I played through Lief's big sidequest in Snakemouth before doing this and even went on a bounty boss hunt before doing chapter 5. The result was that none of the enemies in the chapter gave any experience and I trounced this boss really REALLY fast.

No, don’t mourn for this boss. He had it coming for not only eating Kabbu’s friends… but smirking as he attempted to finish the job.

I think I've seen this boss crawling around in my basement. I won't kill it as long as it stays in the basement. It keeps the bugs out.

Kabbu best beetle. I respect him highly.

..huh? Did you feel like that was _not_ the climax of the chapter? Kabbu spends a long time being tense and irritable, and when you finally find out why, and an original fight theme starts playing, you believe its a midboss?

@@maniacaal I mean, I didn't mistake it for the midboss, but others might've... I was just confuzzled when I got into the Fuff mid-boss (or is it after-boss boss?) fight. Like, it was pretty obvious the Beast was the boss of the chapter, but it's build up felt kinda scrapped together, after the Leafbugs just up and left when it popped up, almost never to be seen again unless you do some really late/after game quest featuring them.

@@acadeealkana2760 thats kinda the point. The leafbug are strong enemies and even them being afraid of the beast build up its power. And the Leifbugs still show up after the beast is dead if you go into the swamp. It has its own battle theme while the first fight with ultimax uses the normal mini boss music. im not trying to be mean but i kinda wanna know why you thought that?

Reminds me a LOT of the forced 1v1 fight in P5 royal, and that is a _very_ good thing here too

0:47 to 1:03 is Kabbu's climax for revenge and justice is here.. Absolutely love this part of this song so much. Hope you guys agree with me ;D By far my favorite boss of this game to be honest, and best boss ost too!

Vi and leif can do some pretty broken stuff if you get the right badges for them.

Kabbu became filled with DETERMINATION to avenge his fallen comrades.

Kabbu has the power of both Venus AND anime on his side!

I was so weak compared to this boss when I fought it, it took me like 4 attempts to get to the part where Kabbu gets mad It's my favorite boss so far though

@@superstarultra Ohhhh right, how could I forget that. Still, this chapter truly does the fake-out substantially better, as you expect something after Ultimax; and it wouldn't be that strange to have a second big boss, considering the "Kabbu arc" is quite isolated from the Wasp Kindgom section.

If you have the Berserker Badge at this point, give it to Kabbu. It'll make the battle more authentic.

Kabbu's my favorite of the trio thers alot of things that made me love em like the momensts when he gets too excited angry or suprised

dear god, some of these boss designs make me wish there was a monster collecting spinoff of bug fables, I want to be able to use bastards such as the chapter 5 boss and the desert scoprion on a team

Certainly felt like a weird place in the chapter to fight it. You would think Ultimax would be the end chapter boss, but nope. It's a very "it hits hard, you hit hard back" kind of boss, a very direct type of battle. Maybe if you were forced to flee mid battle or something, like with the spider, and fight it on later in the chapter, say if you needed to escort the Wasp Queen to the Ant Kindom, and once Kabbu has settled down from his bloodlust for revenge. Then The Beast would ambush you, putting the queen at risk. That would make this fight all the more satisfying, and feel like a chapter boss. This is still one of my favorite bosses. Great build up, scary design, tense music, love it.

The Cosmic, Kidd I mean, let’s be fair, it hitting hard and you having to hit it just as hard back very much fits the theming of the fight. This is Kabbu’s fight, and The Beast perfectly contrasts Kabbu’s typically noble, knightly demeanor with its constant snickering and the fact it is clearly toying with the party at first. But yeah, the actual location of the fight is pretty unusual. Plus, Ultimax isn’t really a... challenging fight. He kinda feels like he is there to basically hype you up and make you feel powerful with how comparatively weak he is to his own troops, which he only exists to buff up. It’s kinda the opposite fight as The Beast, since instead of facing you head on, Ultimax doesn’t really fight you directly as much as he just constantly spawns enemies.

It's not completely scripted, you can still lose. It's just that by the time Kabbu's massive second wind buff happens he becomes so overpowered it's hard to actually die at that point.

I had a TP regeneration medal equipped for this battle, so once the script triggered it was impossible to lose except on purpose.
