well cyberpunk trailer was unexpected and we saw how the game looks for the first time, here we have just another teaser for something thats was already expected and seen. Good comparison to Cyberpunk 2018 trailer would be harbingers showcase because it was unexpected and huge for the lore.

@@alvian5121 In this situation, the choice of trailer was really bad but calling the company that makes 150mil+ dollars per month and has 60mil+ monthly players just from one game is a bit ignorant. They have incredible ad campaigns in Asia and Europe and they do lots of collabs with brands in China. My guess would be they don't take Gamescom very seriously since their target playerbase isn't there. Just my opinion though, I might be wrong.

This trailer is not eye catching for people who don't play Genshin.

hoyoverse needs to know how to hype the crowd with trailers, usually when you present at an event, developers/game publishers usually insert an unexpected content. maybe a new unexpected character or some sort of a surprise easter egg. they could have shown lumine or something about aether's main storyline.

As someone who grew up playing AAA games, I’m used to lots of replay value both in multiplayer and single player games. However to be fair those were also paid games and not F2P. As we’re entering a new era of streamlined, mass produced, content where we trade accessibility for long term investment, the traditional formula of success is changing. Genshin proved that you don’t need dedicated gameplay to keep an open world RPG alive, just enough bread crumbs to want the players wanting more, while writing it off as “part of the experience”. It’s like how maid cafes prioritize cute staff and aesthetic environment over food quality. As long as customers are willing to pay, you don’t ask how things should be done. If someone wants to order a car with no steering wheel, don’t ask, just sell it to em.

Honestly tho, they shoulv'e just went with the 3.0 trailer because this one is shit. For the players yes it's cool but for the general audience it's meh. Rare hoyoverse marketing L.

in my opinion Story 6/10 (full of fluff, leaves too much to be desired and irrelevant plot points) Visual 9/10 (nice aesthetic but textures load so slowly) Events 5/10 (just grinding the same thing over and over for each event) Combat System 9/10 (fun but auto locking sucks)

As long as something gives them enough emotional mood swings and over-speculation to distract them from life’s problems even just for a little while, they’ll pay up. Morally it’s disgusting to take advantage of vulnerable ppl like that, but it’s not illegal and it’s players are “happy” from it even if it makes them more miserable in the long run so it’ll keep going.

Story = 8/10 World building is actually really good, kind of like a mini Elder Scrolls. However it’s ruined by the cheap tricks of the anime storytelling approach. Verbosing dialogue to look and sound smart. Everything is too dramatic and brash, no subtlety or complex logical thinking. Pacing feels too planned out and convenient, not enough randomness or improvisation. Aesthetic details = 9/10 Top Notch stuff. Character design, animations, map design and the music is all very well down. The only good thing Genshin has it going. I remember being so genuinely impressed by the animation when I first started the game, like I’d ragdoll characters on purpose just to observe the animation and be awed by it, definitely not what I expected from a non mainstream, mobile game. This is coming from a college student studying to be a 3D animator for games, as well as animating on the side as a hobby. Content = 6/10 barely anything. The game looks like it has a lot to do until you realize you can only do 90% of that content once. Can’t replay completed archon chapters or story quests, most world quests are genuinely intriguing but short and anticlimactic. Events are barebones except for a few exceptions, coop is dry af to the point of being pointless (besides roleplaying) the game is designed to be casual yet they put story lore content behind limited time events, absolutely scummy of them to do. Combat mechanics = 8/10 Fluid animations compliment the vibrant abilities, it’s fun building your characters and watching it pay off. Elemental reactions is nice, artifact rng is awful, but overall not too bad! AR59 with 1200H+ who finally lost patience after 2 years and quit the game.

The hype for Genshin and Hoyo games in general has already died in the West. Even the audience reaction for Honkai Star Rail is quite mild. A mobile game in a Western gaming event, of course you wouldn't get a loud audience reaction. If this was one of those Asian gaming event or an Anime gaming event, you'd get lots of shouting from the audience.
