Thank you to everyone who requested this pattern. It was a fun and challenging project to write it out like this. I’m happy to answer questions in the comment section if anything is confusing.
I love how one half of my hair just didn’t stay curled while I filmed this.

    @@RachelAnnPotter What's weird is that I can read a knitting pattern just fine, but evidently learning to do that took up all of the storage space in my brain and I haven't been able to adapt that knowledge to crochet pattern reading. Wish I could free up some space on my internal hard drive to add more useful knowledge....

    Hey there! Just wanted to let you know that your pattern and video are great. I'm a beginner and self taught (with some expert advice), and I made this for myself using Bernat velvet in black. Your diagram of the hood is extremely helpful. The pattern itself is very intuitive so I never felt lost or overwhelmed. I can't find anything to critique on this. I feel more comfortable and confident about patterns now. Thank you very much for your work!

    I love this so much. I’ve been obsessed with making möbius/infinity scarves and wraps lately and this is definitely going to be my next project. I also love your method for making the hood. I’ve never went through with making anything with a hood for the very reason of it having the 90 degree corner on the top like an elf. As for criticism on your written pattern, I don’t really have any! Some patterns are too straight forward and I feel like all I’m reading is acronyms and numbers, which takes more thinking power for me. Some are way too wordy and I feel like I’m spending more time reading than crocheting. You’ve blended this perfectly to pack as many tips and information into small steps. You’re a natural! At least for my taste. Thanks for taking the time to record and write this! I will definitely be saving this tutorial and subscribing :)

    Oh my goodness, that's incredibly kind feedback! Thank you so much. I've got some projects lined up where I'm going to MAKE myself read a pattern and build up a little bit more confidence so that I can continue to make these tutorials. There are so many great people here on youtube that have made videos that FINALLY helped me understand how to do a difficult stitch, and if it weren't for them I probably wouldn't have kept crocheting, so it's so incredibly cool to know that I've helped someone else along the way. Good luck with all of your projects, and seriously, thank you!

  • @rosefiasco

    @rosefiasco

    3 жыл бұрын

    I think you’ll be fine adding rows to the hood, as long as your scarf is long enough to fit around your shoulders. I made my hood deep enough to drape pretty far over my face (i don’t like the way shallow hoods fit) and it ended up fitting fine. One thing that might help is to increase every few rows at the bottom edges of the hood so that it slants down towards the opening. As long as you make it tall enough to have some drape, it shouldn’t cause too many issues with the fit. Let me know what you figure out! I’m curious to know how it goes! 💖

  • @rosefiasco

    Alright, I checked the hood and it DOES hang a few inches down past the scarf in the back. You could always make the scarf wider or the hood shorter if you don't like the proportions, but I think the main thing is that it's comfortable to wear.

    I wear 3x to 4x. How many foundation chains do I need? Thank you for this awesome video!!! I can’t wait to get started. Do you have a Instagram?

  • @rosefiasco

    @rosefiasco

    Жыл бұрын

    The number of foundation chains you need is going to depend on your yarn and hook size. I’m definitely not great at math and I don’t want to give you a wrong number, but I usually just keep making chains until I can comfortably wrap the foundation row around my shoulders (it should hang fairly loose.) I wish I had a more accurate answer for you, but I’ve found that I have an easier time measuring as I go, rather than trying to calculate the exact number of chains I need to begin with. If you look around on Pinterest, there are probably some infinity scarf patterns that actually have sizes/foundation chain guides. Luckily, the hood part doesn’t really change much across sizes, so once you know how long the infinity scarf is, you should be good to go! Best of luck, and let me know how it goes! 💖💖💖

    I promise, crocheting, free hand gets so much easier, the more familiar you become with the basic stitches and techniques. To have it curl and go in a different direction, I had to twist the foundation chain so that it became kind of a “mobius strip.” There are lots of infinity scarf tutorials that explain this better, though. I hope that helps!
