Thank you for sharing. The stitch was a little hard to make as my hook would catch on the last two stitches, so I make one with just half double crochet and it turned out lovely.

I loved the simplicity of the headband for little girls. Do you have a pattern for older or women?
@WindingRoadCrochet
Жыл бұрын
I only have it up to toddlers, but if you don't mind the size of the bow, you can add as many chains as you need then just follow the video or written pattern and it should still come out. I wrote it that way so I didn't have to add any confusing sizing instructions. You will see the pattern says Yarn Over Slip Stitch "across". That allows for the different starting chain amounts.

@@WindingRoadCrochet Thank you so much for responding to my inquiry. I appreciate your time.
I am a beginner. You explain everything so well! However I used same crochet hook and medium 4 yarn but I don’t understand how to gauge size? Can you help me? The headband I made turned out beautifully, but too small. Did size for small baby. TIA
@WindingRoadCrochet
Жыл бұрын
Gauge is simply measuring the number of stitches per inch. If I have 4 stitches per inch and you have 5 stitches per inch then the sizes will be different. The most stitches per inch the smaller the item will be. If yours came out too small then I would go up a hook size.
Upon finishing everything before assembling the bow, would you recommend I block it before I assemble the bow just to make it sit better and more evenly? This is only me second project I've done so far and it's looking great but I don't know when to block and when not to lol
@WindingRoadCrochet
3 ай бұрын
If you find that the bow is curling you could block it. If you assemble it and then the bow is curling, you can still block it then to get the bow to lay flat.

Thank you for this video! One of the bow ends were to big and not curvy. Do you know the problem. Also I'm 11 rears old making this.

The ends are meant to be flat but might pick up a curve because we are cinching down the middle.

@Winding Road Crochet. Thank you for telling me that! I just undid and restarted my work. And it seems like that's the problem.
Love the headband, could you give me the measurements for a 0/3 month please.
@WindingRoadCrochet
3 ай бұрын
12 inches circumference for 0/3 months. It is pretty small. That is with a gauge of 4 sts per inch.
Should I chain according to the head circumference of baby?
@WindingRoadCrochet
4 ай бұрын
You want to make the size that matches the head circumference of the baby. This head band is worked as all one piece so when you chain, part of that chain is the bow and will not be part of the headband circumference.
Would it be the same if u used size 3 yarn?
@WindingRoadCrochet
8 ай бұрын
Size 3 yarn is half the thickness of a size 4 yarn. It would turn out much smaller.
Can I add more rows and how do i do that so the baby gets it tight
@WindingRoadCrochet
11 ай бұрын
If you are adding more rows then you will need to add the same amount of rows before and after the row that adds the hole to make the bow, but to make the headband bigger you will need to add more chains and not rows.
So do you know what size a baby 3-6 months will be? Im making a dress so Im gonna make this headband d match! The dress is 3-6 months. I cant really measure the babies head bc its not born yet.
@WindingRoadCrochet
8 ай бұрын
The Craft yarn council puts a baby headsize at 14-16 inches. My 9 month has a 17 inch head and she was born with a 13 inch head. So maybe 14-15 inch range.

@@WindingRoadCrochet hmm ok ill try that out! Tysm for answering my question! :)
how can you change the color of the bow i dont want a solid color
@WindingRoadCrochet
Жыл бұрын
You would have to change colors while working the row. Since it is worked all as one piece it is easiest to make it just one color.
Why does hair band length decrease while adding more rows?
@WindingRoadCrochet
7 ай бұрын
It should not decrease with adding more rows. I would count your stitches and make sure your stitch count is the same as the first row.
I have the same size yarn but I am missing a 5mm hook and only have a 4.25 mm or 5.25 mm hook so I will have to choose between the 2 lol
@WindingRoadCrochet
3 ай бұрын
Yes. Do you tend to crochet loose or tight? I used to crochet very tight and I would lean towards the larger hook but it just depends on your tension.
@MrKarlimoney
3 ай бұрын
@@WindingRoadCrochet I used a 5.25mm hook it's not too tight but I did notice when I completed it was a little more stiff but it still looks good, I will definitely work on my tension and I will also block before I assemble the bow 🙂
Love this but why is your band so narrow? My 13 rows came out very wide!! 5-1/2 inches with an H hook.
@WindingRoadCrochet
3 ай бұрын
It is probably just or tension difference. Make sure that you are working yarn over slip stitches and not half double crochet stitches. That would add more width. They are very similar stitches but not the same.

How many chains
@WindingRoadCrochet

I believe the pink was a small baby size and the grey was a large baby size. Chain counts: 1:00
I chained 67 for a 4 month old and it was a bit too tight/small
@WindingRoadCrochet

Did you check your gauge? Everyone crochets differently, some crochet tight and some crochet very loose. Make sure to adjust your hook size to meet the required gauge for the pattern.
I'm trying to make a headband for a toddler and it says chain 97. There is no way this wouldn't even fit me
@WindingRoadCrochet
10 ай бұрын
Make sure to check your gauge and remember that this is worked as all one piece, so some of that length is used for the bow. I would say about 4 inches of the length gets used for the bow. The gauge is 4 stitches per inch. 96 sts = 24 inches - (4-5 inches for the bow) = about 19-20 inches circumference for the headband. If that still seems big then you can go down a size to get a headband that is 17-18 inches.
Has anyone else had this problem? What am I doing wrong?
@WindingRoadCrochet
Жыл бұрын
Have you completed the pattern? Part of the length (about 4-5 inches) are used for the bow and does not contribute to the final circumference. If you have taken that into consideration already then I would check your gauge.
You do your half double crochet different.

the yarn over slip stitch takes a little getting used to. It is especially difficult if you have a tight tension, but it is lovely when you get it.
I’ve chained 87 stitches for a large baby. There is no way this will fit a baby…I will finish it and show you. I think it will fit an adult. I am determined to finish, the stitch has given me a hard time. 😅

Did you check your gauge? Also remember that part of the length will be used for the bow. This Bow headband is worked all as one piece. I want to say roughly 4-5 inches of the length will be used for the bow and not be a part of the length.

@@WindingRoadCrochet explain the gauge part to me. Thank you
@WindingRoadCrochet
Жыл бұрын
Your gauge is the number of stitches per a certain number of inches. Everyone crochets differently. We can all use the same yarn and same size hook, but some people crochet loosely and some crochet very tight. So when people work 87 stitches the end measurement will all be different. Sometimes it will be a drastic difference and sometimes it will be a small difference. We use a gauge to help make sure the size comes out correctly. The gauge for this pattern is 8 YOSLST X 8 Rows = 2 inches. So if you measure out 8 stitches, it should equal 2 inches. If it equals more than 2 inches, then you will need to use a smaller hook. Here is a video from a friend of mine that explains gauge very well: kzread.info/dash/bejne/m3lh2pdvppifhtI.html

I also have a hard time with the stitch when pulling the yarn through the last two loops on the hook. The hook just doesn’t want to go through. What I do is turn my hook toward the back and pull through. Hope this is helpful!

Did you check the gauge? Also did you finish the pattern or just work a few rows. You have to remember that the bow is part of that length and it will overlap and make the headband smaller.
