It's time to get to know another amazing Croatian wine variety. This is probably the variety of wine with best researched history, that goes back to the exact year (1864) and location when the first vine was discovered and started spreading.

The Dalmatian economy collapsed in 1891 when Italy and Austria-Hungary signed the "Wine Clause". The consequences of the wine clause were also increased by the phylloxera of the vines in 1894, which ultimately resulted in the impoverishment of the population of Dalmatia and its increased emigration to overseas countries.
