Jancis Robinson demonstrates how to taste a wine

Jancis Robinson, editor of the Oxford Companion to Wine, takes us step by step through how a professional tastes a wine and writes their tasting notes. Using a classic red burgundy, she demonstrates what to look for - covering the colour, clarity, aroma and taste of the wine. ukcatalogue.oup.com/product/97...

Mrs. Robinson, I loved you on "The Wine Show." I'm in the US, but I can watch it on HULU here in the states. I hope you had as much fun being part of the second season as I had watching it. Cheers to you and the crew!

I think perhaps the description of this video should be corrected to a 'classic red Bordeaux' rather than a burgundy!

I was told by Olivier Cassat (ex-Mauvezin opposite Pavie in St Emilion) that you should ALWAYS blow into your glass in a restaurant to get rid of any tablecloth smell, to not contaminate your schnoz.

I love yours video classes. For me will be very interesting to put subtitles, because I don't speak English very well and I would like understand more. Thanks

A very interesting video. Always such a pleasure to witness the expertise from Jancis herself, one of the highest authorities in the wine world by quite a margin! It is interesting how JR used the bottom of what appears to be left-over wine from a few nights before. It would be interesting to have the context of this video and this tasting. Love the format of the video though. Informative and useful. I know you have so many other things to do Jancis, but you should do more of these. Cheers, and thanks for sharing. I make some wine tasting and other wine videos myself as well, if that's of any interest ;-)

Delightful and LB is my reference point for all red wines. Alas almost beyond my budget these days.

I've often wondered to what extent might a woman's use of lipstick interfere with wine-tasting! So much emphasis on such esoteric nuances and subtleties of a wine and yet a generous application of lipstick must definitely interfere with the entire wine-tasting process.

Interesting. She must have considered it though. I would be shocked if she hadn't

My former bosses wouldn't have scented flowers in the room, so yes.

Old wines don't look good to me. It maybe better in many ways, but I certainly like young wines' color better.
