One important thing to understand is that in football is that an outcome of a one-off game can largely be influenced by luck in the scenario where a team is not getting outplayed. As we see in the highlights and the stats, Croatia did not outplay Germany. This game is largely equal and this game could have been a 2-2 draw, for example. It is after many games, where teams produce more stats and data where we see trends in performance.
