I have two triple critter nations. I absolutely love it and more importantly my rats do too. I stalked Craig's list for months until I found one for sale. I got a DCN for 75 dollars second hand. It had a few wear issues but what I learned from this purchase was that the cage is absolutely worth the retail price. I found another double for sale and eventually bought 2 add ons full price. Eventually I bought the metal pans from Bass equipment. Yes I spent a lot of money, and now have a cage that will last for however long i decide to own small animals (very long time)

I just got a new cage after 2 years I realized i needed a new cage it was small but you helped me come along with caring for a chin

Thanks so much for all this information and I am so excited bc it got my parents to say yes to getting a chinchilla last week and I’m getting it tonight after my play rehearsal. Thanks!! I bought the same cage, but, chew toys, and more!!! ❤️

So funny you put this video up yesterday, my chin actually finally got a brand new big cage. (had to unfortunately keep her in a smallish bird cage because it was an emergency buy) I do find that bird cages are really good for chinchillas though, she now has a massive parrot cage.

Yup! THIS is the best cage there is for your own critters! Best investment for all ,)

Isaiah Flores It’s better than struggling with a little door in the middle of the cage that is one square foot. I’ve had cages in the past that I had to take the whole thing apart to get the fleece out from the bottom🤷‍♀️💕

I have a ferret nation that doesn't really fit together right at several places, like the ceiling pops out and half of it at a time will just be sitting on the walls, so I have to fit them back in and it takes a while to fit it right again... I wish that this wasn't a problem, but I also know these are pretty much the best small animal cages available... So maybe I shouldn't complain. I had a flemish giant rabbit in it for three months until he passed away from a bad illness. I washed and bleached the cage down good, rinsed it with a hose... Almost good as new besides the amonia stains... I am getting a chinchilla in a little while, not sure exactly when, but sometime in a month or two. Sorry this is really long, I just need to vent and rant lol! Nobody else in my family other than my older sister cares about chins... But we used to breed them when i was little, Lol!! Sorry for such a long comment!

Yo guys, I do got some tips to use on this cage. So,I have this cage for some rats, and it was very hard for them to get out. It is a bit of a pain to clean all of it and cleanse the cage. So yea 🙂

I think our chinchillas are long lost brothers mine name is Merlin too and based on what I see he’s just like mine but mines a bit shy at times

Can u do a video on good and bad chinchilla water bottles Just an idea My water bottle is leaking and most are pretty pricey for a water bottle.

I have some glass bottles from pet co, and they don’t leak they were only like 15 for one and it has lasted a long time. Hope this helps!

I actually found the same cage on a site for on $62.85. I don't know if its a scam but, I just wanted to put it out there.

I stacked my Critter Nation cage 3 high and my Chins fly up and down the ledges at lightning speed. Btw, if you want to cut down on the dust in your cage you could use a old fashion glass candy jar from Walmart. It's big enough for one chin to rroll around in.

EmiilyGreen It doesn’t matter the size really. If you get a bigger one, you might be tempted to not change the water out often enough (which is my problem haha) but pretty much you can get whatever size as long as you watch it everyday and make sure it never gets empty 💕

The Anime Fox I personally prefer fleece bedding as it’s a lot cheaper in the long run, easier to clean and keep neat throughout the week, and looks better. But I used paper bedding before. It just depends on the owner I guess 💕

Hey! How can I get my two chins to come to me when they are out to play? They are kind of nervous around me and when I’m cleaning their cage one of them tries to jump out and when I block him from jumping he bites at my fingers, idk what to do because if I give him food when he does it he might think it’s a reward and I don’t want to get bitten, help!

It is important to associate your hands with good things so maybe when you are cleaning the cage block them off with the dust pan or even put them in a separate level of the cage if needed. Give them treats with your fingers when they are out for playtime maybe choose a small room like a bathroom or even a bathtub and play with them in there. This way they are forced to be close to you and will get comfortable sooner. Make sure you provide only one hideout for them to run to if needed but mostly just get them used to you:)

H Dell definitely! a one tier CN is really big too :) just make sure there are lots of ledges for him/her (but ofc don’t overcrowd it) because they love to jump around!

I have exactly $230 lol but I might save more money just in case because right now I have this weird shaped cage it is a triangle and it has small doors its hard to clean and there not enough room for toys and ramps and run stuff like that I could remove the ramps but it will just be weird and building a whole other floor will probably be hard so I think ill buy a critter nation!

•Chilla_ Scrizz• Chinchillas need some sort of bedding in their cage. Bedding soaks up the pee and keeps their paws and bodies clean from it💕

Jeanette Marsden Unfortunately Chinchillas need at least 4.5 feet of height, but 5 is ideal. No matter how much ya let them out, they need a proper cage that’s large enough. Imagine having to live in a place too small all the time, and only let out for 2 hours a day. It’s just not healthy 💕

It depends on the cat but I'd say just avoid having predator animals around prey ones like chinchillas. They may not show the stress, but they can get very scared and stressed out which is best to avoid :):)

From where did you buy the hideaway/hut with the slanted roof/ramp? What's the brand name? Thanks.

Dita Zaļkalne It’s best for chinchillas to have height, so a double unit is strongly recommended so they have enough space. You can get the critter nation off amazon 😊

It's actually a thing you hook up in the inside of a cabinet or storage but I got it from Walmart in the storage/organizer aisle :)

tiles cost a lot of money lol

I had to use a hammer on mine

When I see Merlin in this cage I feel like he is the size of a hamster
