My dad works at a chinese restaurant, an this is how its usually done here. The duck is roasted so that could be a good option if you want to try this recipe without such a large amount of fat(baste the duck). If you cant find chinese pancakes, they're made in a similar way to flour tortillas, but rolled slightly thinner. Another tip is to dilute the hoisin sauce, warm it with a bit of water and some sugar to get rid of that savoury bite. Love what you guys at sorted did with this dish! xx
And the end result is soooo good and so close to the authentic method that I doubt you'd even notice! :D
Awwww yeah Peking Duck is the best, especially when the skin is nice and crispy it's the best part!
It was INCREDIBLE!
I had this in a restaurant in Beijing and at the end they brought out the crispy duck skin and some sugar to dip it in. It was mouth meltingly good!!

The duck looks amazing, and definitely worth making. I also like almost any chow fun dish, but especially dried beef chow fun.
Check out our Fruit Smoothies video! You can find it on our website!
In Asia we call this Peking duck, translated to Chinese is bei jing ya

I just saw you guys on feast of fiction and have been marathoning through a ton of your episodes! I'm in love with you guys and your wonderful recipies! :D
that was so weird ... i paused this so i could concentrate on phantom hourglass, and couldn't work out why i could still hear your voices ... its because you were on the tv as well!! i don't often watch perfect, but today i'm glad i did :)
OMG! I love peking duck! And now I can make it! Thanks guys!
Yeah that would work well!
Love You Jamie… You ALWAYS make laugh… Your expressions and one liners… 🤣🤣🤣
Omg, I am definitely going to try and make this. Been wanting to find a recipe to make my own 😁
This is my favorite recipe you have ever made. Really wish you would do an updated version. 🤞 Also.. how long can you keep the fat in the jars for? And would freezing it prolong the best by? 😊
When I saw this in my suscription box I started shouting... Im so excited! Its my boyfriends and mine favourite chinese dish!!
I watched this a year ago. It still makes me drool with cravings. Why did I forget to subscribe to you guys? I feel ashamed with myself. Rectifying this problem immediately.
mouth open...drooling all the time....and I would choose this every time from the take away!!!
Ooooh my God I just had these yesterday. I wasn't at the same restaurant, but a couple weeks ago I found a place with super-thin but durable pancakes and the most delicious duck. It was amaaaazing.
Ah, this is one of my most favourite dishes. Absolutely addicting. If you ever get a chance to go visit China/Hong Kong, go ahead and try their roasted piglet. I assure you, it will blow your mind. I always LOVE going back to Hong Kong and China for all the tasty tasty traditional foods there.
You know what, I think Jamie needs more love from this community. This man is darling (and hilarious). #teamjamie (not that I don't love you all)
This is perfect, i always avoid ordering this as its so expensive but ill 100% be cooking this for my housemates soon! Thanks guys :) x
For my family this is a Christmas tradition. We live in a warm enough climate that we can cook the duck outside on the grill. It is absolutely the most amazing food ever.
Yes!! I been Trying to find this recipe forever!!!!
Anyone else think that this was going to show us how to make the pancakes?

In my top three foods: 3. Chinese seaweed (deep fried kale with dried shrimp powder) 2. Crispy duck pancakes 1. Fresh mussels in chilli tomato sauce.
I just love the idea of making Chinese food at home :) knowing exactly what is going into it.. Brilliant!
Oooh! These look neat! I don't think these are as easily available over here! Can't wait to make these either :D! Looks super yum!
I love chicken chow mein. I could eat it all day long. Noodles, chicken, crunchy bean sprout, and assorted veggies~ Love it!
I never got around to using Star Anise in any of my cooking simply because I hadn't heard much about it, are there any key flavour combinations that it works perfect with or can it be used with most meats and ingredients?
@SortedFood

+FearTheMantis It can be quite strong, so it's good to use meat with a fairly strong flavour like duck or even venison. It's great in desserts too.

+FearTheMantis The primary flavor profile in Star Anise is Licorice. It's great on Venison (gamey meats), and Sweets.
this stuff is amazing. 😋
Jamie adds a spoonful of hoisin to pancakes Ben: "That's strong stuff so you only need a fraction of that; otherwise, you won't be able to taste the duck." Jamie continues to glob on hoisin. 😂
I always loved Jamie!! Never thought I was alone, or that he didn't have enough love in the community, but I guess there's never too much love for someone who loves eating so much hahha ^^ #teamjamie
Man, when will technology allow us to taste via the net? EVERYTHING y'all make looks so absolutely delicious! And frankly, if you owned a restaurant (do you?) it'd be the best thing ever!
they look AMAZING!
Moo Shoo Pork, Shrimp Lomein and Black Pepper Chicken! I love you guys! From Louisiana ~ I know great food when I see it! "You Rock!" Thank you!!!
I made some odd sort of screaming/crying/laughing sound when I saw this in my subscriptions. This is FANTASTIC!
Noodles, spring rolls, fried chicken and sweet and sour sauce. That was actually my lunch. We got a very popular, small Chinese stand in town that sells these amazing and cheap take away boxes. Always a hit!
that's a really interesting take on a classic dish! I love how simple it is (although, procuring that amount of duck fat might be slightly difficult coming from a health-concious family) Being Chinese, my favourite dish has to be whatever my mum decides to make, although at the top of the list has to be dumplings/potstickers. As for takeout, I'd go with sweet&sour chicken. There's just something about the sauce and crispiness of the chicken that is perfect with a nice bowl of rice!
Oh I see everyone's back from vidcon and coherent enough to upload videos again COOL :) glad you guys had fun
I'm absolutely going to try these out!! i just came back from china where i tried the real authentic kind- simply amazing :)
There is a special place in my heart for crispy fried orange beef. Cheers guys.
This dish brings back memories
I'm chinese and I've been trying to explain this to people for years. thank you.
its soo good!!
This dish reminds me of the chinese's Peking Duck Dish. Awesome recipe! I would love to taste it.
I made my own steamed pancakes with a simple bread/pizza dough recipe and it was amazing. It's also very good with other meats (:
I can almost smell this. looks darn good!
Crispy Sweet and Sour Pork is what I love. My local chinese takeaway also does the best spring rolls as well!
looks so good guys!!!! :-D thanks a lot!
This looks amazing, i love duck!!! :)
awesome video, thanks! where did you buy the hoisin sauce from?
Those amazing ricecakes with lotus and honey in the middle and sesame on the outside.... no idea what they're called but one of the yummiest desserts I know :)
Stays good for months in the fridge in a sealed container! :-D

Amazing recipes... I loved this channel =D
i'm half chinese & we have this dish. I try to introduce it to my white boyfriend & my white cousins LOVE this dish. Its a good dish since it's not "fake" like panda express. My fav chinese dish is any dim sum dish so maybe ha gaw, or fun noodles (with beef inside, not to be confused with beef chow fun), my sis likes sticky rice, my bro likes chicken feet, cold jelly fish with seasoning is good, wo gok is great, & my white cousins like steamed pork buns while my bf likes honey baked pork buns :D
As always you guys are doing a great job! One question though, I can't eat the pancakes since I'm allergic to flour, what do you recommend to use instead?
That looks delicious!
this recipe is great! eventho i wont make it at home. its just interesting to see.
My favorite chinese dishes are pretty simple. Fried rice, honey pork or chicken, beef broccoli, and... dumplings! I really love dumplings and steamed buns!
Tried making this tonight. Bit of a faff but really worth it, duck was scrummy. Thanks for sharing!
nice! being Taiwanese/Chinese and living in the Bay, we actually just buy bento boxes full of duck meat cut into inch-sized strips (with bones and all) already done like that LOL. green onions and hoisin sauce are always in the house, and about half the time, some sort of pancake-like thing is available as well.
Awwwww watching in 2023 and I want to pinch their li’l cheeks! Baby Ben and Junior Jamie! 😍😍 Sorted Food is my favorite channel and always makes me smile, and gives me great ideas for meals!
So much Jamie love right now. Oh man, when Ben took apart the cooked duck, hoooooo baby. ♥♥♥
Chicken satay skewers with pineapple and mango drizzle. Mouth is watering almost as much as when I watch your vids!
Guotie and chashaorou are my favorite Chinese dishes. They're heavenly delicious.
OMG I FREAKING LOVE THESE! :D
you pronounced hoisin pretty good :) and thanks for making this video, me and my family have been ordering this since i was a kid and you made it home easy ( usually the duck is made by someone specialized in making it and its roasted)
I love this and I also love sesame chicken with steamed broccoli!!!!
There's actually two kinds of peking duck one has the kind of wrap used like in the video, but I prefer mine with the flat white steam buns. It is just a regional difference in how it is served. I think your version of peking duck is creative! And we do call those pancakes. Westerners tend to assume that pancakes only refer to the sweet cake like breakfast food, but in Asia we have savory pancakes made nothing like the western pancakes. You should try the Taiwanese green onion pancakes.
Making mine today and own pancakes. Crispy, shredded chilli beef is a family favourite
singapore style noodles, they're called different things in different places but my god i love them
Mum always make them love them ♥♥♥
That looks so yummy! I'd like to try this but where do I get duck fat? They try not to include the meat of the duck in the pancake, the star of the dish is actually the crispy skin =) After they carve the skin in front of us, the whole duck is taken back to the kitchen and prepared into another dish.

Crab rangoons! Definite favorite.
you guys make my life a living hell! now i want some proper crispy duck! that looks delicious!!! :)
yeap. i'm drooling.
Make Singapore's famous Chicken rice
My local Chinese take out makes amazing veggie lo mein. A classic, but I've really never had better.
The thing you made is actually called peking duck. I love it.
Just a tip! When wrapping it, add some cut chilli with the duck, cucumber and spring onions Adds an extra kick to it and tastes awesome :)
This is one of my favorite things to get when I go to a Chinese restaurant..
My favourite Chinese Takeaway dish is probably satay, love it :D
Where i'm from (somewhere in southeast asia hehe), we roll the ducks at the dining table itself. so we have the wraps, leek and plum sauce laid out on the table & everybody gets their hands on em, feels a lot more authentic that way :) and it's usually served with duck soup with all ze duck-fat goodness haha dear god i'm craving for this now damnnn haha
My mother makes them for me (Yes i am asian) To be Honest they are delicous. You got the crunchy filling based on your likings then a nice chewy pancake topped off with a sauce. I recommend for anyone.
My all time favourite takeaway meal and yes I have all this to myself as a meal 😂 no sharing
omg, this is my fav dish ! but even in hong kong, it is not common in most of the restaurants... i gotta try it at home!!!
I've never had Peking duck with thin wrappers ... always with thick fluffy steamed bread. But this seems easier to make at home XD I oughta try this!
Shandong chicken or shredded beef!! Omg! Heaven!
im a chinese and im learning how to make this dish from your channel. :D
Hey this is how my mom makes it! Asian family FTW anyways awesome job sorted!
Chilli beef, lemon chicken, egg fried rice, chicken chow mein, the list will keep on going
i like to add rice in my pancakes. people say it's weird, which it is, but it's delicious! :)
