    Today I will try one of these AVS2 ~ 1906 units. I bought a Brand NEW in box 1406 yesterday, at local parts store, and it crapped out badly. Three different major issues right out of box, what fun, almost got me stranded on side street from it! Anyway I recovered & survived the long time known Edelbrock 'OOB" Curse!! Looking forward to a same result you had All around good performance from this new style carb.

    You should never have fuel dribbling from the booster at idle, whether downleg or annular.

    Edelbrock AVS-2 carbs are quite adjustable. You can move the accelerator pump arm position, swap the step-up springs to change when power enrichment comes in under load, swap the step-up rods to change the cruising tune, swap the step-up rods to change the high engine load tune, change the primary jets, change the secondary jets, adjust the idle mixture screws, adjust the air flap spring pressure on the secondaries...

    Down leg boosters work well on standard style manifolds that get warmed by the oil under them. AirGap style manifolds work better with annular boosters due to the better atomization.

    I just bought a AVS2 1905 / 650 cfm Manual choke and secondary's, putting it on a 1968 Torino with 302. it has hooker headers and a Wieland 8011 intake manifold. not Shure if it has a cam or not, as I did not put in motor. if it does it I a very mild one. so mild mods. Has a C4 with higher 2000-2200 i cannot remember stall converter and shift kit. will b putting in a Posi kit with 355 ring and pinion. if that matters. think it will go on in stock settings ??? Thanks PS bought from same company and it did not come with mounting instructions or bolt tork specs.

    Yes high idle! I just adjusted this…you may already have figured it out but and I found the choke adjustment screw just under the regular idle adjustment screw. It seems to be just about “right” now that I messed with it.

    How interesting! I run a very mild 318 and I’m running the older style 500 AVS edelbrock carb on mine. I thought the 500 would have been to small on my engine but since being tuned it runs fantastic. But I am curious as to how it would perform if I was to change it to the 600 AVS2? Or would I be wasting cash? Dunno 🤷‍♂️ It may be a waste of time? It runs so good now I’m reluctant to mess with it. Nice mustang by the way 👍

    if you are running a stock 318 the 500 is plenty if you have headers or a different cam etc then i would go with the 650 avs2

    most ppl put on WAY too much carb.... (CID x maxRPM X volumetric_efficiancy)/3456 = CFM you should have SO (318 x 5,500 x .80)/3456 = 404 cfm........just for sake of argument say you have 100% VE thats still only 506 CFM

    got question for you ....i just rebuild my chevy 350 1990 k5 blazer i converted it over from tbi to carb ..i did a few up grade on the engine high performance intake headers 3' pipes all way back up graded the cam to a howard rattler cam 525 intake lift 535 exhaust duration 227/235 lobe separation 109 center line 103 i still the same factory heads on there i believe they the swirl port heads ..i no i should have went with some better heads but the engine was already done. i put a brand new 1406 edelbrock carb on it right out the box every sence i put that carb on there i been using alot of fuel i set the carb best as posible ..im using a awful lot of fuel just with it iding..i have my pressure regulator set at 5psi..dont no why im losing so mush fuel

    I still have my 1406. I determined that my float levels are too high. I’m about to throw it on another engine and see if that did the trick. The AVS carb has been solid in the one in the video…super responsive. I would take it apart and rebuild it again ensuring the float levels are correct. Takes about an hour but worth it if that fixes your problem.

    I get avs2 500 cfm Install it to my 289 work yes fine for couple days then running releace throttle down the engine start sacking I tried to tune it then I notice there is no vuccum on the port for the distributor I didn’t know if that is the issue I need to check with edelbrock if there a need to have vacuum or not

    How do u know throttle response without driving it?

  • @FollowTheBuilds

    @FollowTheBuilds

    By that I believe I meant the speed with which the throttle in an engine responds to the accelerator pedal being depressed or released. I have since tested under load it is has significant more pep in her step throughout the throttle range.

    You can tell on blipping the throttle if there is any hesitancy but as someone who replaced a 1404 with the AVS2 1901 I can confirm on blip or on drive the throttle response is transformed with cruising now just a feather stroke on the throttle pedal to keep things moving nicely. My setup is straight out of the box running fine, I'll probably get a vac gauge onto it to fine tune one day but runs great as is. The only thing I did adjust on install was to wind back the throttle screw a little.

    You need to adjust your float level is high that's why it's dripping or your idles way too high always set your floats after you buy a new carburetor always to factory spec
