I appreciate all the feedback. I was frustrated on how to solve it. I read everything about edelbrock carburetors and its just a hot gas issue. It's the easiest way to try to fix it if you having issues with it not running right. Before you do all the springs in the timing and all this other stuff just try a thicker gasket and insulate the fuel lines work for me runs great now.

I have battled this same problem and used the carb spacer which does help but one thing that helps a ton is to run a fuel filter after the fuel pump but before it goes into the car with a return line because whatever fuel isnt drawn into the carb can exit out to the return line and go cool down in the tank instead of sitting there on top of the engine heat.

Cool Cans work wonders too, Back in the day we just made our own now you can buy fancy ones, which you would want with an engine bay this nice. I used dry ice or crushed ice until I got creative and used a paste I got at a bearing supply wearhouse used for wielding, it doesn't allow Any heat transfer and it kept the fuel cold, Wooden cloths pins work great too on the metal lines...this literally stopped the fuel from vaporizing on a hot summer day in my barracuda.

You won't "drop anything down that hole" if you have some clean rags in them. As a mechanic for more than 25 years I have removed MANY carburetors for rebuilding or sometimes replacement and I ALWAYS put a rag over the hole or put some clean rags in the manifold to keep out foreign objects. It is also a good practice to get into. Thanks for the video. It would have been great to have a video while driving the car before and after. I am thinking about putting an Edelbrock AVS2 on my '68 Olds Cutlass but I really love the Quadrajet. Take care.

You're right it is good idea or good practice to put a dry rag clean rag in the carburetor manifold hole if you plan on leaving it unattended for a while or why you're screwing in the studs. That's why I recommend clamping the studs under the vice grips first so you don't drop them into the intake manifold. The car was hesitating it wouldn't take off right away when I floored it it would hesitate bad and just like my noises it would sound like that. And now it doesn't do any of that stuff

Hey David, I have a love affair with QJ Carbs. Not the electronic variety. I am an old hot Rodder. No, not that old. The thing about QJ’s is that they can frustrate people because getting them perfect takes a lot of know how. That is because the QJ has way more parts count than others. The parts must work in concert. This also makes the QJ the most tunable carberator ever created. It can deliver excellent mileage and raw performance. My Father had a 67 SS Camarao 327@350hp with the QJ. A real good runner. I have a 69 Camaro 327@ 400 hp 4:10 gears, 3,000 rpm converter. Let me tells ya. I have used both carb types. I prefer QJ because I get better throttle response. Of course that wonderful roar is just that. I live em. Thanks David Collins for expert advise.

E10 gas has lower boiling point, then nonethonal gas. Which can led to fuel boiling in the fuel bowels and or vapor being pushed through the jets into the intake which will reform to a liquid, then flood the engine. This is most noticeable during hot starts which will resulting a hard hot start. I fought this for a nit till realized this. I changed my fuel to nonethonal problem corrected
