Sorry. Not released in theaters. Doesn't qualify. Frontrunners for best pic this year are Sonic the Hedgehog and Birds of Prey.

Daniel Orteez They changed the rules for the upcoming ceremony only. The movies that were originally meant for theatrical release but ended up streaming due to the crisis are eligible. Besides, “Trolls World Tour” was shown in some drive-ins and some theaters that started opening up.

I was convinced that taron edgerton was a lock for best actor.

When is the Academy ever going to learn to nominate Asian actors? Arguably, not enough of the Oscar voters probably saw ''The Farewell'' (even though Awkwafina won a Golden Globe). But a ton of Academy members saw ''Parasite,'' which WON the SAG Ensemble Award, however, they still couldn't nominate a single Asian actor from THAT cast. The sad reality is that the predominantly white Academy nominates the actors they know (who tend to be predominantly white), so 19 of the 20 acting nominees were white.

The Oscar Expert, I would love to share your hope, but Oscar history doesn't seem to support that. Asian-themed movies, like ''The Last Emperor,'' ''Slumdog Millionaire'' and now ''Parasite'' have won Best Picture, and ''Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon'' and ''Letters From Iwo Jima'' were nominated for the top prize. Among the 5 of them, they add up to 39 Oscar nominations, but still not a single one for acting among them!

P.S. I forgot to include a recent 6th Asian-themed Best Picture nominee. ''Lion,'' set in India, which did get a Supporting Acting nom for Dev Patel. Still, not a stellar record!

I feel you. The gossipy excuse is that Oscar nominated actors require a write in and perhaps people didn't know how spell out their names. I'm not totally convinced, though.

And yet Academy voters can nominate unknown (and hard-to-spell) Latina actresses, like Yalitza Aparicio and Marina de Tavira from ''Roma,'' but rarely Asian actors. Hmmm ...

Technically, Parasite counts as a thriller. Same for "In the heat of the night", "Argo" and "Spotlight"

Next Goal Wins for Best Picture 2021

The Farewell was robbed. It's always interesting to see how I'll react to a director's sophomore project. I didn't like Us nearly as much as I liked Get Out. If Beale Street Could Talk was good, but not at the level of brilliant that Moonlight achieved. I loved Hereditary and hated Midsommar. Greta Gerwig reversed the trend, though. I thought Lady Bird was good but not amazing, and then was much more invested in Little Women and its characters.

What year is the next retrospective gonna be on

Finally got to see "Cats" and... wtf? It is actually a GOOD film (even if not great) and not the Apocalypse that people reviewed??? And I do not like that musical (beyond "Memories") but it's an interesting take and a project full of balls, not furballs.
