Criminals are setting up innocent-looking "car traps". A woman got hospitalized.

Commuting in our own car is becoming more dangerous everyday and thanks to social media, chilling footage is constantly shared of what looks to be danger lurking in the shadows. But are these just pranks? Over dramatic storytimes? Or are these eerie experiences too common to excuse as mere coincidence?
Whether you’re at work, running errands, or traveling-social media and law enforcement are sounding the call that you may want to double-check your vehicle before you decide to drive straight home.
Let’s take a look at innocent things you may see on, under or around your car, that may not be so innocent after all-and learn what you should do in similar situations.

The thing about touching things with chemicals is true, it's been happening in South Africa for years, it's witchcraft, I personally know four people who were victims to it, they lost consciousness and gave away their personal and private information and belongings, such as bank cards, pins, cellphones, savings, tablets and whatever valuables they had on them. I was targeted as well as my mother on separate occasions and the only reason we escaped was by praying to Lord Jesus. They'll either smear something on your clothes by 'accident', pretend to drop a thick roll of money which the unsuspecting victim will pick up to give it back, or they pretend to be foreigners who need assistance in English. So don't let anyone tell you it's 'folklore' it's true.

Another bit of advice. If you’re ever being followed while driving, drive to the nearest police station! Park as close to the building as possible and wait a while. They will most likely drive away but if they keep persisting honk your horn to get the attention of the officers inside. I’ve unfortunately had to do this once already.

Drive right up to the front door and lay on the horn until an officer comes out! Seriously, stop being ridiculous, you don't want to give a criminal an extra second! I've had to do it myself too; police would rather you embarrassed than dead. Park as close to the door and wait, good Lord, now you're cornered! It's loud in those police stations, let them hear you darling! I used to institutionalize lunatics and they move fast. The things I've seen them do to police alone, terrifying! Turn on the car alarm, lay on the horn, and scream your bloody head off! I survived 22 years by making them think I was crazier than they were, and psycopaths don't like that kind of attention!

That is always good advice. For women it's definitely a lot harder for them if they're by themselves. I just worry when people see stories like that that they think EVERYONE they see is out to get them when that isn't the case and it is almost never going to happen to you. Also where you live plays a massive role in this as well. My town has some of the lowest crime rates in the entire country so it's very easy to trust people here but you still need to use common sense and trust your gut instinct if something doesn't seem right. I get overly cautious and paranoid which imo is a bad way to be if you want to live a good life because then you're always worrying someones out to get you

And they are right because trafficking doesn't happen like that. What's the purpose of marking someone? You just spook them off. Real trafficking often works psychologically on vulnerable people (e.g. poverty, homelessness, substance abuse). It makes no sense to tag a pricy car of a middle class woman who will obviously arm herself or call her husband to protection. Car theft does happen though.

During the depression my grandmother said that because she would feed men who were homeless or asked to work for food, she learned that her home was "tagged" with a sign that others recognized as a good home to stop at. Just be aware that anything unusual is likely to be a trap. Women, walk in groups, be aware, never park next to a vehicle with dark windows. This is so scary. My husband sat in our car while I ran into Walmart to buy several gift cards at Christmas. What I didn't know, a man stood outside & followed me, according to my husband. When I got to my parked car & the man saw my husband standing there, the man abrubtly turned and grabbed his phone & began to talk to someone. My husband said the man had followed me.

I used to go to the same store every day, so everyone knew me. One night…I was walking less than 20 feet to my car when cashier comes outside and is shouting to me. I thought he was just messing around, but then he just walked over to my car and stood there. He was a little irritated when he told me that there had been a man who was making a beeline for my car the moment I stepped outside. He said he noticed the guy watch me come into the store and had just waited for me! I considered myself to be a very aware person when it comes to my surroundings, but I had not noticed the man at all. My hands shook all the way home. Now, I am twice as vigilant…even in the daytime. I lock my car the SECOND the door shuts…no messing with my phone, or even starting the car. I even use my remote start to throw people off if I feel funny. I’d rather look crazy than get snatched up, or worse. Whaddaya gonna do?👀🤷🏾‍♀️

I drove up to a self serve gas station ( 25+ years ago) there was one other car at the pumps. You had to go in and fill a card with how much gas you wanted to buy and then come back out and fill up. As I got out of my car a woman with a missing hand came up to me and said that she had recently broken her wrist( on her good hand) and needed help starting the ignition. I went over to her car and noticed the back seat had clothes tossed in back...filling it completely. I noticed she was standing very close to the driver's door which made me suspicious. I started to lean in to turn the key and she said just sit down and start it.... that was the last straw.... I walked away saying she'd have to ask someone else for help. I went in paid for my gas card and when I came out she was gone. I was thinking there may have been someone under all those clothes and I would have been trapped after she slammed the driver's door shut. This experience has haunted me and is more vivid than what I did last week.

If you do that you have effectively "trapped" the steering of your vehicle in a confined space and you have to go further back, then change gear before you can get away. Reversing INTO your parking space means you're ready to get out of there ... a short way forward and you're already in the right gear (drive) to accelerate away. If there is a suspicious car eg; van, big car, etc don’t approach get a safety guard, or someone from the store to accompany you to your car. When you get to your car, check the backseats while unlocking your car quickly, get into your car, turn it on and lock your doors quickly. Don’t put down your windows until you’re already driving. Always be suspicious, babies. Stay ALERT!! Stay safe. May seem exaggerated but your life is first always!

I went to grad school in North Philly. One of my female friends would head to the lot with her key sticking out of her fist like a weapon to strike. She could unlock her car door, get in, relock the door and get the car started and into gear in like 30 seconds. There was a very sobering safety brief the first week of school and it sunk in with some of us.

I learned this in a very scary situation. I was stuck in traffic, and some guys started fighting on the sidewalk. The fight spilled into the street…then…a DRIVER gets out of his car with a “weapon”….I was just a sitting duck and wanted to 💩 my pants. I never felt so trapped in my life…so, yeah. I leave at least a car’s length in front of me. Edit: I also like to stick to the right hand lanes as to not be trapped by traffic on both sides, as well. It is also good for making a quick “dip” if you think you are being followed. It’s sad that we need evasive action in every day life.👀

Best thing you can do is hopefully there are a few cross roads that are NOT dead ends is to take the next left into a side road that isn’t a dead end and NOT to signal. Taking a right turn is more noticeable in a rear view mirror from the car going twenty miles an hour, and if the driver in front of you notices that you took a right turn, they can take the next right turn, and catch up with you maneuvering through the neighborhood if they are experts in that city.

I'm from South Africa. I experienced something that made me very uneasy. Me, my husband and grandchild were in the mall in Heidelberg, GP, when a woman approached us and asked to take a photo of me and my husband, "because she has never seen people of our age to be so in love. I found it strange that she wanted us to turn our backs to her. I am sure she actually took photos of my grandson; he was only 6 years old at that stage. At the time, I did not think, it was only when she was in 'n hurry to leave, that it struck me that it may be preparation for abduction of the child. We made for the car, holding him between us. For a very long time, we did not take him to the mall with us again. Please people, be aware of your surroundings and if you notice something, rather go back into the mall and ask for security to accompany you to your car.

I mean, that statistic is true, as it’s easier to take someone who’s following willingly than by force. Plus, it follows the same logic as why you’re more likely to be sexually assaulted, kidnapped, and murdered by someone you know. But it’s not uncommon for it to be strangers either. It’s how stalkers exist. Human trafficking is horrendously common in poorer countries. However, while it’s not impossible, it doesn’t actually happen in America as often as people think. What is common, is SA and robbery, which is just as likely to be perpetrated by a complete stranger.

The biggest piece of advice that I've ever gotten to help in these situations is that your car is your weapon. Do not stall, do not open your windows, and do not worry about the safety of your car or people around it in a survival situation. If you are ever stopped by suspicious people or cars, use your car to brute force your way through barriers or roadblocks. And never drive home, immediately drive yourself to a police station or to a highly dense, public area. As a young, newly adult female, the idea of running through barriers or threatening people scared me too, but your car is there to protect you. Just some helpful advice amongst the sea of others. Like many others have said, just be smart, vigilant, and trust your gut! And use tactics to avoid these situations in the first place! 🙂🙂

Two issues with the "debunking" at the end. First, so-called "fact-checking" websites are not arbiters of truth, and just because there isn't a police report doesn't mean it didn't happen. Second, "less than 1% of cases" means there are women falling victim to these tactics, and considering that millions of people are trafficked every year, I'd say that number is significant.

That woman towards the end is so wrong. there are two types of trafficking. One involves people they know. The other involves strangers it does happen I have heard stories and it almost happened to me and a friend in downtown Portland when I was 19. A man on the phone right behind us said, " I have two girls (and something about) black leather." At an upcoming bus stop I told my friend I had to fix my shoe. He passed us..but looked back at us after he passed while I was "fixing my shoe." We thought we were free and clear. We found ourselves on a street with no people and suddenly there is another man on the phone behind us. We speed up a lot. He speeds up. I told my friend to pull aside she did and he passed us but slowed down....and kept looking at us.. When he got a small distance I told her, "Run." And we ran back the opposite direction ... coming from what would have been behind us had we kept going...around the corner was another man and he chased us until we got to a store to get inside. He spoke to my friend as we entered the store and he stood outside the store waiting there. I pointed to him so he could see me pointing to the men who worked there...and he soon left. We stayed in that store a very long time.portland used to be a major hub for trfkmng. . . To the point it was called the black rose. . . I have watched a news story about two teens who were rescued from being trfks to another state and sold as you know what's.... and it was amazing they escaped... but someone was almost Bea to death in the process of rescuing them... most girls never get saved.

Another time, I was sitting hunched over while waiting for my man near the bus stop not far from a restaurant we were going to eat at that night. Someone decided to park about 10 feet from me. I would say that he thought I was a young woman. I was in my late 30s at that time. When the bus came and my man started to walk to me. The driver drove off in a hurry. It helped that I had stood up and went to meet my man.

It was a setup for sure. This was over 40 years ago folks, this is nothing new.

Of course people are debunking this because trafficking doesn't happen like that. Does no one ask themselves what's the purpose of marking someone? You just spook them off. Real trafficking often works psychologically on vulnerable people (e.g. poverty, homelessness, substance abuse). It makes no sense to tag a pricy car of a middle class woman who will obviously arm herself or call her husband to protection. Car theft does happen though.

I work as a store mgr in a big box store. I can tell you that on average, 2x a month men will come in and follow teenage girls. Different men, different girls each time. I have called police multiple times while working there about this. Then have never gotten a girl, thank God! We are very aware of this and as employees try to deter them, walking near them, asking them for if they need help, etc. Monitoring them on camera by our security, etc. This "big box store" will NEVER post this in the news because they will lose business. As employees we can be fired for speaking out about criminal events. So trust me, there are plenty of creepers who are out there trying to get young girls.

I've recently found three times (about once a week) someone messing with my passenger side windshield wiper area in my apartment building parkade (there are hundreds of people in my building and I'm 5 levels down). I thought it was a fellow resident who might be trying to terrorize/annoy me since they weren't things that actually damaged my car. One was that the wiper rubbery part was pulled out a bit so the wiper didn't work (but I didn't notice this until I drove outside), The next was a glass bottle left in that space which I saw before I drove (a relief because it could have fallen and shattered and been much more of a problem), and the third was that wiper was put up in the air. It hasn't until now occurred to me that something more sinister and dangerous could be going on like trying to get me to the other side of the car distracted. I was just going to see if something else happened before reporting to my building and trying to find out if it was happening to anyone else. But it's not like finding this out in public because they know you're going to come back to your car fairly quickly at a store parking lot, but at my place they wouldn't be able to wait forever.

A woman that she didnt know was over at a pay phone on the side of the building, and had overheard my nieces name spoken by her mother. The woman called out to my niece using her name and actually told her that the phone call was for her. Twice, she did this, but my niece being street smart just gave her a dirty look and went on in the store. This happened at a time when stories were going around about people kidnapping girls with long blond hair for occult sacrifice.

I had a guy come up to my car while I was waiting for a friend to come out of the grocery store in late afternoon hours with my small dog in my lap. Something told me to lock my doors and fast, i clicked the keyfob twice and locked my doors, my dog proceeded to go nuts as a large man came up and tried my doors. It was hair raising. And I don't have a nice car, i have a crusty ol sunfire with peeling paint and this was the car he targeted. These people in the clip saying thatthis isn't how human traffickers work can't possibly know that its true in every case. There is a lot of missing people that never get found and even if they get rescued its not aure they would find out that they car was tagged. And its videos evidence that women have been jumped on the way to their car and kidnapped so it definitely does happen.

She fought them hard & her daughter got away, barely. They nearly got her in the vehicle. This happened in broad daylight, in a WHITE neighborhood, & neither mother nor daughter knew them. The police caught them & they told the police they were attempting to abduct her to sell her for prostitution. It made the papers. Yes, it can & does happen. This was before SM back in the 1990s.
