I have read a few comments and find it to be a little biased. I’ve been in both, and currently run the Crestliner. The weld trumps rivits. Transom is welded inside and out. I researched for a year and a half, Crestliner won me over for some of the same reasons you mentioned. Good stuff, thanks!

Great job on the review. Covered the stuff I wanted to know. The wooden deck thing is true, my Bass Tracker is 21 years old, and I was fixing some wiring underneath the deck and I realized the wood was rooting. At least I can still fish out of it.

Good review. Hit the nail on the head on most of it. I feel Lund is the name that has been around forever, and you pay for it. Some of their trim on similar boats to the Crestliner might be a little more plush, however I am on my second Crestliner, and I could not fathom the cost difference for the same type boat versus the Lund. I always get told by dealerships that Brunswick uses the Crestliner as the "family fishing boat" and price points it less, and Lund for the "enthusiast fisher", and relies on the brand name loyalty.

You don’t like wooden decks? What about your Tracker? It has pressure treated plywood (better than marine plywood) and a lifetime warranty on the deck. I too have a Tracker PT175TXW. The wooden decks don’t bother me though I do wish they were aluminum. If I ever have to replace the carpet I may coat the wood on all sides with fiberglass.

Wife and I just went through the exercise of comparing Crestliner's 1650 Fishhawk and the Lund 1775 Adventure Sport. They were both nice boats but my wife liked the Lund and it was a bigger boat for the same price so we purchased the Lund. Besides, I'm a fan of riveted boats, having owned an Alumacraft for 33 years which is still leak-free and in excellent condition. For another $6000, The Crestliner Fishhawk 1750 was priced similar to the Lund Impact 1775 but the Impact was better equipped for the same money.

I know this video was uploaded nearly 2 years ago, but speaking to the "why would you downgrade to a 20hp" comment at aroun 6minutes in - I would do this, because I live in SW PA, and most of our "lakes" are HP restricted to 20hp by the PA fish & game commission, so a 20HP would make PERFECT sense for us.

I've owned aluminum bass boats with wood decking and some with aluminum decking. In the Summer time aluminum decking gets very hot and noisy even with carpet. Wood is much cooler. If stored properly, A good quality wood deck can last the life of the boat.

this man just said a Honda is higher quality. You have to pay extra because merc and these two company's are under the umbrella of Brunswick. Who also owns a lot more boat brands and Atwood marine. It costs more because you have to go out of the Brunswick umbrella so they make it cheaper so you buy from one of their company's.

This is some of the most false info I’ve ever seen in a single video. Lund does have full aluminum decking with a far superior water channeling system for dry storage, the Composite transom are awesome, for smaller boats riveted is every bit as good. Heck ranger tracker ect have pulled facebook groups over cracked welds. Also your quote of Lunda Bass boats starting at a base price of 40K is about double what they are. No issues with Crestliner but this is obviously a very bias review from someone favoring a type of boat similar to his tracker.

I was considering taking my Crestliner to Florida with me and fishing saltwater with it. Was wondering what the deck was made of as pressure treated wood and salt don't mix. Now I know so all I need is to sell my trailer for a galvanized or aluminum one and I'm all good. Thanks! Other than the stupid Idea of carpet in a boat I can't see anything on the down side of one of these boats in salt water as long as you understand about Saltwater issues. Hope my carpet get eaten so I have a reason to tear it out.

I own a 2004 Crestliner 1850 Fish Hawk. Has wood floor and aluminum hatches. Wood is only complaint. Far superior fishability to a lund. I am trading it in for a new 1850 Fish Hawk. 4 stroke motor, (previous 2 stroke), front and rear decks are much higher(more fishable than '04 model), and a second council. If I could afford it I'd keep my '04 as a trolling boat and the new for casting. I have been a guide since the late 90's and have been in a ton of boats as a foreman at a marina. Crestliner is putting out the best aluminum these days. I can't speak for the triangle hull boat line("backwater boats") those hulls suck across all brands for my application and from my experience. When I bought boats for a rental fleet I was limited by dealership agreements and had alumicraft. Not bad. If you don't like their trim, get a G3. Same boats just finished nicer. When it comes to aluminum I choose crestliner. With this most recent purchase, my family came in to invest into business and it increased my buying ability greatly, I still choose a Crestliner! The fish hawk hull can handle it all like a Cadillac and then fish like a bass boat once on location. As far as rigging, I like to choose my stuff. I will buy electronics and have marine install. I don't mind that Crestliners are mostly rigged with mercury motors. Mercury are rock solid. The big foot or large diameter gear case is nearly indestructible. Really, had these on rental units and they kept on the water all season for many years, talking thousands of hours not hundreds per season. I also have had good experiences with yamaha and suzuki.

My boat a 2020 Brand New 2000 Bay boat was recalled last year under warranty to correct the deck and the hull paint peeling. Crestliner has had my boat for over 160 days and it has still not been returned to me. Yes, I'm still making payments every month while they have my boat.

To much misinformation. A(proper) weld is superior to a rivet. Rivets flex over time and *expand* (Proper) welds do not flex over time and do not expand. Aluminum that is prone to high stress will flex, but if properly welded will hold its shape over time. The same cannot be said for rivets. Lund uses .080 gauge aluminum bottom and 0.063 freeboard Crestliner uses .090 gauge aluminum and .080 freeboard At the end of the day whether or not you want to hear this (Lund fan boys) lund is over priced and not worth the extra money for its reputation and quality, those are the facts. You can get the same quailty boat if not better for almost half the price. Most of the time lund is a more money then brains, brand loyal purchase. It's like buying a Porsche/mastari/Bentley over the common brands such as gmc/dodge/ford. In todays economy the consumer should be advocating for some competitive pricing, but we the consumer just buy and go on with our day to day lives..... Your welcome.
