I genuinely love the doll, and the fact she is based off a true story about two lovers. He loved her so much that even in death, he made her his queen. That is creepy, yet so lovely and sweet.

Woo! A tale from my country!! I was obssessed with Pedro and Inês' tale when I was little, I'm so happy to see people from other countries talking about and appreciating it ❤️ Portugal has a LOT of casually creepy stories and legends, so if you're into those, you'll have a lot of material to dig in. There's even a bit of this story, that says that nature itself was so outraged by the crime of Inês' murder, that the stones in the creek where she bled to death retained the red color, so the world could never forget the king's sins. These lovers tombs were built a little different, in front of one another, instead of side by side. So that when their souls ascend to heaven, they'll be the first thing each other sees. Or so the legend goes 😊

Aaaah it's so cool to see someone from Portugal here!!!! 😍 I did some research preparing for this project, but i didn't know the part about the stones becoming red. But i know about the tombs! It was also interesting to look at the carvings and learn about the symbolism sculptors put into their designs. I really wish to visit Portugal some day and see this place with my own eyes! 💫

@@DollAfterlife honestly, your research SHOWED, the level of detail you looked into, the amount of details, I'm just about deceased myself! As a culture, we talk a lot about how great and vast our history and artistic history is, but the majority of people don't actually show much interest beyond "huh, neat". So it's very heartwarming to see people not only look into it, but also dig into it and share it with others ❤️ The stones' legend was told to my class when we were little, and the teacher was actually very open about it being realistically impossible, but it showed the dedication and a people's memory, that centuries later someone still goes through the work of maintaining the stones red. It added to the tragedy that King Afonso IV was by all means a good and well-liked ruler, and THIS is what he reduced his legacy to. Also, fun fact: we don't remember Inês because of Pedro, as much as we remember Pedro because of Inês. Her life was altered by him, but people don't really care about his life after her coronation and execution of her killers.

I love historical stories like these. ❤️ Also, I’m glad that she got a long veil instead of hair. Not just for accuracy’s sake, but because the veil+skull remind me of a funeral shroud, which is a nice touch.

  • @centurycountess4949

I remember this story years ago, so many versions, one I think was when she had been exhumed there had been signs someone had already invaded the tomb. and one even mentioned there was evidence her blonde hair had been shorn. (I doubt though) One version even mention the chosen ladies in waiting for Queen Ines cared for her like they had served her for years.. (this made me wonder if maybe it might have been easier for the court to kiss her hand because back then although full body bathing wasn't a big thing the washing of the hands feet and face was very important so maybe her skeletal hand wasn't as grumesome to kiss hopefully. The doll you created I feel is an accurate version to the dead queen in the story. My most favorite part is how the veil hangs on her it almost has like a coffin effect almost like it saying, maybe not in life but in death she became a queen.

The yellow/red/purple crystals are AB Volcano. Idk if this is a Swarovski knock off or the actual ones, but just wanted to inform.

"AB crystals, also known as Aurora Borealis crystals after the Northern Lights, are crystals which have been given an iridescent coating that shimmers when it catches the light. AB bead treatments were invented by Swarovski back in 1956, in partnership with Christian Dior." Inform yourself first, then inform others please. ☝🏻

I think that you did a very good job on her and that her story is very sad but it is a good story to tell. It is just a shame that husband father hated her so much. If he had a like her she still would have being queen and had her life too
