    Very cool last year was looking for a video of a flat 6 into 1 exhaust design to build my own for my ez30r legacy but I couldn't find anything now I will know how it sounds

    9:00 Not backpurging is fine imho as long as you dont get big amounts of sugaring on the inside for whatever reason. Just found your channel btw and I like it. Subbed. Greetings from germany.

    i wonder if routing the exhaust towards the front of the car and collecting there and then going over the passenger subframe would work. That way you can use pretty much any stock GT86 catback.

    This build is awesome!! I have EZ30 in my Legacy and i love the engine and was thinkin about puttin it into GT86/BRZ myself, do you think it would be possible to swap EZ30 into GT86 without usin standalone ECU like you did? or it's just not possible without it?

  • @hawes_power5590

    @hawes_power5590

    9 ай бұрын

    Thank you! I wouldn't say impossible, but very difficult indeed. both engine and chassis run there own separate CAN systems so the car wont really work without the correct engine and the EZ30 ecu wont like not being not its its original car. Haltech do an affordable ecu which will nicely control the engine and has the GT86 CAN protocol output. They have done the hard work already so you dont have to.

    Single 2.5" is okay for a stock N/A engine, but if you did a max effort N/A you'd have to bump it up to 3" If you did a single rear mount turbo (not twin-scroll) or something, probably stick with 2.5 so the velocity and heat are kept up for the length of pipe. If you separated the banks to take proper advantage of a twin-scroll (IMO, you should for any single turbo on an even number of cylinders), then I'd downsize each bank to a 2" collector, but I'm less certain of that, so possibly consult a builder or a fluid simulation to confirm. Twin scroll single turbo (assuming everything's equal length) sounds a lot like an equal-length performance Y-pipe, which sounds very close to an all-into-one collector, so if you go that route, you should be able to keep your epic sound.

    that all lines up with my understanding. I dont envision that i will ever turbocharge this setup. i already have 3 turbo cars so its quite nice having something different

    @@hawes_power5590 Supercharge it, then? 😎You'd still have to bump it to 3-inch, but it'd be perfect to do so and leave it there. A whipple 100AX is a 1.6L positive displacement twin-screw supercharger (the most efficient positive displacement design, roots are absolute trash) which should put you right in the fun zone without being ridiculous. Some guys out there put one on an S2000 and made 440whp at 17psi revving to about 8k. I know this engine would rev less and you probably wouldn't want to run 17psi (at least not right away), but at 11psi they made a healthy 300whp with the same redline. Down at 6000 it was about 200 lb-ft of wheel torque and 230hp, so if you rule-of-thumb it for your 3.0L engine, that'd be 300 lb-ft and 345whp; pretty much spot on for a single 3" system. No telling what you'd need to do with the driveline, though... OH! Have you seen the J35 swapped BRZ/FRS by PFI speed? That thing also has a 6-1 and it sounds SICK!

    @@Drunken_Hamster supercharging would have more appeal. i have a friend who has been talking about supercharging his EZ30 BC legacy for a while, maybe ill let him ginea pig the setup for me. as seen as this is a gravel rally car, it can only put so much power to the ground without spinning the tires off, NA will definitely be adequate while will dial the car in and learn how to drive it. also i want to keep it as reliable as possible. just checked the j35 BRZ, its badass!

    Nice job, but why don’t go 6-2-1 instead of 6-1? There would be less pipes and maybe better flow, as 4-2-1 flows better than 4-1 and primary lengths are better.
