Cheers! I’m originally from Cornwall but parents are from outside London (herts and bucks) and been in the United States for a while!
so that's why water moves away from the shore before a tsunami?
I love tsunamis
Just fyi Its Paddys Day or St Paddys if you really must But never St Pattys Day Over n out

I would do this all the time in the tub🛀
Bros top 1 is kinda cool ngl
gd reference??????? also ill try to do that looks pretty fun as an experiment
The teacher gonna be mad with this thing
Cool 😎
Tidal wave verified by zoink lol
Cool
i want to try it
I experiment like this daily in my bathtub.
Nahhh he aint dimistrating he a water bender
Wow ❤
My guy was creating tidal waves not tsunami but still pretty cool

Tidal waves are a combination of wind and gravity acting upon the ocean surface. This demo is simulating a small scale whole water displacement which is how a tsunami forms. Water displacement originates from a tectonic shift - earthquake or landslide triggered by an earthquake

It looked like you was using gravity to push the water to one side and then when you put it down it was causing waves I just thought they were little tidal waves

@rboothy9795 No worries, I’m going to try to create a tidal wave in the next unit, hopefully it works!?!
People who skip to see tsunami 😂😂
Thank you☺️
Make it bigger
woah

You didn't mention or show that when the wave gets close to shore it gets BIGGER.

@@earthscienceclassroom Im not a scientist but what if....you take this model and make it 10000 + bigger.Put a cover on it and seal everything. Now you create an artifical controlled tsunami.Could it create as much energy as a dam or as turbine or the wave converting devices. Is it already being done.So many questions and ideas after seeing this basic demo about tsunamis.
Uhhhh... DUH!
I just create in my water bottle 😂😂
I do this in the tub
Can someone please explain why the water recedes before tsunami?

With any large water displacement, water is moved and relocated temporarily to compensate. A given volume of water moves there has to be water moved for replacement.

A tsunami is created by earthquakes. Then the earthquakes change the ocean floor heigjt making a part of it taller. Thats when the wave begins to form. The beach water will descend into the ocean. And after a few minutes, it will come back to the beach and will make a tsunami

At the end.. “Water displacement caused by ocean floor movement which is caused by a tsunami”??
@earthscienceclassroom

Thanks for the feedback, the ocean floor movement causes the tsunami, but it stems from the release of energy and movement along the fault line
