I think the video would be better if the camera operator would stay zoomed in on what is happening. We know what the stars look like. Just my opinion.

We'd go for a heavy waxed thread!

Hello, do you have to cut the new tapped out pattern immediately after tapping it out or can you do it some time later?

+allanpennington You can do it at a later date but if you do it immediately there will be better definition to your lines.

After you tap off a pattern, the lines that you made with a swivel knife are basically raised up instead of cut into the leather, yes? So, is there a way to harden that "tapped off" piece so that you could use IT as the pattern? It would be like those plastic Tandy patterns they make if it's possible to do it. If so, let us know, please!!

I suppose you could tap down the lower stuff a little and then cover it with some kind of hardener. Epoxy or fiebing’s resolene

+Jairo Perez Hermann Oak veg tan is sold by the side and they will average 6-8ft x 3.5ft average at the butt end and maybe 2ft wide at the neck end. To get a section that is 5ft x 6ft you will most likely have to piece it together from two sides. Our craftsman grade HO is running $8.29sqft at the moment and the sides average 23 sqft so you're looking at about $385 to get enough leather to make that section.

im on the other end, im an artist but cant seem to find a way to use it on leather YET

@@SpringfieldLeather my trouble is i have a lifetime of using pencils etc to do my artwork which are held and thus controlled in a different way that a swivel knife. the having to use one of my control fingers in the saddle is a challenge for me. im sure i will come up with a workaround with practice though. thanks for the reply i will certainly check out the new video.
