Absolutely beautiful door. Looks like the epoxy may have turned out a little more translucent than what was described as the intended color.

Not many people have one-of-a-kind custom heirloom quality doors on their houses. Personally, the first epoxy exterior door you all made was more to my taste, but I understand that everyone has their preferences. Nice seeing that this type of quality work still exists in North America.

Team Black, but especially if it's naturally black wood. The black ash is amazing, but nothing can beat the natural color of wood. I want to see a door with skins made of African Blackwood or Gaboon Ebony. And also, thanks to KZread Garrett will never live it down. Sorry Garrett, but here's to a couple of the funniest moments on the entire KZread channel.

Light colored hardwood, Ash, especially, is like a blank canvas. It's such a simple, neutral wood, I think it's hard to ruin it. It's not particularly beautiful in itself usually, so I find the black stain to be quite beautiful. Keep it up!

Hi 👋, Black Forest Wood Co, A stunning looking 👀 Ash Door, Great Work Guys, As for thé colour, that is personal preference, I like both, As I am a specialist joiner cabinet maker with approximately 50 years of work behind me , I have clients that want cabinets and furniture and doors made out of natural wood so they can see the grain , and likewise I’ve done things in black or even a white tint, but you can still see the grain through it, Another great job to your portfolio, I wish you all the success for the future, you’re saying you’re buying a SCM surface finish in the machine. I think that’s what you said., it’s well worth paying the extra for the servicing each year, so it is correctly calibrated, Highly recommended , Great territorial, I look 👀 forward to seeing your next project, Stay Safe, Phil from the moulin France

I am not Team Solid Black, BUT - you don't lose the vision of the wood grain with this kind of staining process. For people who like a more modern or Japanese minimalism appearance, this is exactly the way I would go. Yes, the process is important to us makers, but the consumer really just cares about the aesthetic.

Artwork - just magnificent craftsmanship by BFWC crew. Quality is a time-consuming process. I believe the black stain (with the species of wood) make the grain pop with more clarity. I know your dad (Brad) started the company with building doors but he has to be proud on what you and your younger crew have brought to the business. I still say some day I will own or win a piece of BFWC artwork. Stay safe.

I think the black stain has its perks. There is something cool looking about the black with the wood grain showing. But I also am a natural color guy. While there are multiple reasons you would choose a wood for a certain project, one of the reasons for me is the look and color of the wood. So I like to keep the wood natural. I don't woodwork, this is just from a consumer standpoint.

It’s a very handsome door. I’m curious: With a one week cure time, in a working shop, how do you keep dust from settling on the resin? As far as the black goes, it’s a stain. The beauty of the grain is still visible. As you say, each to their own.

As someone who has sold custom wood exterior doors, the only thing you (customer and manufacturer) is to take exposure direction and darkness of colour into account. expansion and contraction may end up taking a few years to take effect on the door. Just something to watch out for in the coming years.

I was one of those that didn’t like wasting beautiful grainy hardwood by using a heavy dark paint. BUT the piece I was referring to was black walnut or Cherry. Ash to me is a working hardwood and it’s grain is usually a straight grain which gives it strength and keeps it from warping. Besides even though it’s dark the grain shows through. As usual this door looks uniquely beautiful with your trademark perfection. I was remodeling a house in Beverly Hills in 2003 and the owner had ordered a custom wooden exterior door. I told him it’s not sheltered enough from the elements. It’s going to warp and it did. I know this door is sheltered but some haven’t been. What do you do to keep your exterior wood doors from warping?
