The fact that you can do this *SO* easily compared to how it was done before is mindblowing. Not 10 years ago, getting the tech to be able to do this even before tweaking would *bankrupt an entire studio.*

Bruh that was the intention ... you know it was so hard to cut this video since we didnt know how much of the process should we keep and simplify so it caters to a wider audience but at the same time not make it so long that people get bored and click out! Glad it turned out ok

Loving the tutorial. To get closer to meta human focal length it would be best to take photo at a higher focal length

Thanks so much for this tutorial! I also saw the pwnisher use PureRef to align face geometry on top of the Metahuman creator. It might speed up the facial structure workflow a bit.

@@badxstudio absolutely! Was trying to do the face scan with the polycam lidar function and couldn't get good results. Yours is the first tutorial that stuck to photo capture mode. I'll try this and hopefully get better results 😁

@@jakecolefilms Yeah the Lidar doesn't work well with human faces! The photo mode gives the best results hands down!! We already tried multiple versions and can speak to that :) Glad to know you figured it out :)) And sometimes you might not have access to a person to do photoscanning, for which we recommend you check out "Facebuilder" Addon for blender. You feed it a few images and it builds a head mesh based off that which can be quite accurate! It has a free trial so check that out too :) Also if you aren't on our discord yet, please do join! Oh trust me brother we did! The metahuman creator customization is limited we of course made our process look shorter for your sake. But we played around with the different features but the sculpting tools on the creator have limits. Which is why the next part of this video is taking the mesh to a 3D software and customizing it manually :)

Hey, great tutorials, you do teach everything without any unnecessary stuff and in a very excellent way! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!!! Did you have any problems to get Angelina together with face animation and Body movement in 5.3? I've tried it several times, but if I use my own face, and follow your tutorials, the head movement from the facial animation is transfered to my model, but the facial animation, talking, facial expression is not taken. If I take one metahuman of the preset list metahumans, everything works fine.. I thought, that the problem could be, that I create the identity from my polycam model and then create a new identity with the livelink video? Does this make any sense?? Hope, you can help me, as I tried it for about 5 times, following each of the steps in your tutorials, but always get this problem..

You know that sounds like a DOPE challenge :D So just thinking about it for a child metahuuman to look real you've gotta get the HEAD SIZE PROPORTION TO THE BODY correctly. That's probably where the secret lies. That's just a guess tho we have never tried it. Should we give it a try? You have to sculpt the exported base shape. There is no other way to achieve that.

Its really close but the hair line is a little low on the 3D model, bring it up a little and round it. It would be a lot closer, still really cool what you have right now.

Agreed! but the metahuman creator app doesnt let us customize the head more ... it has limits. which is why in the next part we are going to do that in another 3D software :)

That;s Super Amazing and Easy Guide Guys, Can you please make a short tutorial on how we can Export this Character in Maya, or Blender, or in any Format Like FBX or anything?

This should be done with True skin, eyes and eyelashes, without any makeup to avoid artifacts and to create an accurate and realistic face. Makeup can be easily applied after.

I think you would get even better results if you pictured the subject without makeup. Makeup can trick the eye into thinking the subject has higher cheekbones or any difference to their facial structure. If the subject has no makeup then you can add makeup after wards and it will always look "correct". At least that is my theory.

Facial movements and tics. If a motion capture suit wasnt involved ..and perhaps you wanted to use yhe character in a game... ..i wonder if UE could mimic "odd" moving facial patterns found in the actual person like "lazy eye, crooked lip from a stroke, excessive eye blinking or facial tics from terrets "

Id really love some help 🥲 ive gotten all the way to the install MetaHuman identity but the meta humans plugin I downloaded can't be found and they only have 2 base models available. Did they pull the full Meta Humans Plugin since the posting of this video. Im stuck trying to open the Identity plugin that's not showing up, I would really appreciate the help 🙏🏽

This is amazing but I can’t figure out how to add texture to my scan. I imported it but it’s gray and not textured.

Do you have a tutorial of how to apply the scan texture data to the metahuman? The built in options are awful and super limited, especially on me.

What are the tech specs for metahuman creator? I'm in the market for my first laptop and I would really like to have this creative tool, along with artbreeder.

I remember a few years ago when this tech just wasn't there. Now it is.

Wow! Do you see this evolving into something movie directors could storyboard with and eventually as the tech grows it could become almost a movie?

I think polycam has android knock-offs that basically do the same, also you may want to check if Live Link Face is also on Andriod... in fact i don't know why they didn't use it in this video, as the logo of the app has the unreal logo in it... lol... polycam is nice but unless you only want .gtl files you must pay and is not cheap tho....
