I see every one use pc fans. Would a larger fan that can fit in a bigger box. Increase drying effect.

You'll also end up with rock hard pieces of biltong, hard enough to break your teeth. You need _some_ airflow, not a windtunnel.

What is the function of the fan? Do you drive the air inside the box? Or to remove the air from the box?

You need to extract the air or create air flow through the box from the bottom out the top. Extractor fan at the top.

Airflo helps the drying process and prevents mould , you find your biltong covered in mould throw it out and start again !

Is the bulb necessary? What would be the effect if I just don't put a bulb?

Been researching this a bit the last week or so. Biltong needs to dry in a slightly warmer temperature. If the temperature is too cool, you risk the biltong developing bacteria or not drying properly. The light is basically a mild heat source to raise the ambient temperature!

So how does it actually work in drying out the biltong. does the fan extract or blow in air. I dont really understand the vid, its not very explanitary. it just shows someone making a wooden box out of wood.. So un scientific crap. How does this thing work.? please by drying the meat. derrrr.

Doesn´t matter if the fan extract or blow in air. The fan is only there to circulate the air. The lightbulb is unnecessary since it is to weak to heat up the circulating air. In scandinavia we dry meat outdoors in temperatures below 0 degrees celsius. It is all about air...

That's way too much work for some biltong. There are much easier videos on homemade biltong makers on KZread
