UPDATED VERSION OF THIS TUTORIAL: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z6yJ0dB_iZq0hrA.html Since Blender is developing fast - so is this channel. I have done updated step by step tutorial on making grass simulation in new Blender version 3.6 with extra features utilizing the simulation in geometry nodes. Now you can spawn the seeds, grow the grass yourself, and then trim it yourself all within one powerful setup.

6 months later, where are you now in blender?
Something cool and quick to get started, perfect 👌
That looks so amazing and satisfying
The blades of grass thrown from the back of the mower is a great touch!
anyone want to make it cut around and it's only cutting the top section, make sure to change your "frame end" from 60 to your prefer liking in the physics properties, then "delete all bakes" and MAKE SURE you reset the frame to "frame one" before baking by using "shift + left arrow key" then bake again. also found a issue with the regrow, it might just be me but i have to keep baking every time after i change the regrowth speed in order to actually see a difference, applies to changing your keyframes as well

What about making the sphere going around the cube ?
Thanks for the tutorial i looked at the Reddit post a day ago and was quite impressed 👍
Had a lot of fun following your efficient tutorial here. Thank you!! - I added Y rotation drivers to the wheels and some noise to the mower's movement in graph editor. Made a collection for grass blades which are used in the grass particle system (instead of 'object' select 'collection').

If for some reason your cube is blue in weight paint, make sure you select the "Grass" vertex group. ;)

Awwwww, thanks !
I have to cut this grass! Nice tutorial 🤗
Thank you for the great tutorial! I am having one issue though: seemingly no matter what settings I change, the grass grows back immediately after the ball passes over. I've tried adjusting the time in dynamic paint to ridiculous numbers and it's always the same. The weirdest part is that it looks like everything is working fine in the various views and previews, but when I render that is when the grass grows back immediately.

did you delete bakes and rebake the frames?
this would be an awsome loading screen
Hi, may I ask how do you add the flying grass? I've finished the most of the scene, but I feel like adding flying grass would be cool😎(Your tutorial is awesome btw 👌
@Simon3D
2 жыл бұрын
hey ! yeah the flying grass is just a simple particle emitter, thats emitting a simple plane geometry thats looking like a single strand of grass. I didnt go over this because i made few tutorials on setting up particle emitters so didnt want to make this tutorial much longer and basically repeat myself, but maybe i should :D you are the second person to ask so, i will be more thorough in the future !
super
Awesome! Thank you very much! Can I ask you how did you animate the sphere around the cube? Is there something to make it stick to the surface or did you just animate it with specific positions?
@Simon3D
2 жыл бұрын
Ohh right, i didnt include that part because i thought it would be too long, but basically its just a curve around the cube, and the object has a constraint "follow path" on it, and in that constraint the value offset is animated to move from start point to end. Maybe i will include that in my future tutorials to be more thorough, sorry for that ^^

hey nice tutorial.i however have an issue,i cant download the grass texture you used cause its behind a paywall, and the other ones i downloaded from another website dont do anything when applied
nice
The video was perfect, I couldn't wait to make it, but my computer couldn't handle the rendering, I was very sorry about that, I wanted to achieve something, please continue your videos, I wish you success.

You can always ask for a friend with a better computer to render it for you. I used to do that when I started in Blender, I could make stuff but rendering took ages. What my pc did in 5 hrs my friend's pc did in 3 minutes, lol... I sent him the .blend files, and he doesn't need to know how to do anything, just render it for you, as render settings are also saved in the .blend file, so you just do the whole project and someone with a better pc does it for you, is easy to send him the files, and get the renders back is even easier.

@@CarlosSaulRodriguezA thx for advice bro l appreciate it
absolutely beautiful, followed the tutorial closely, only wish the shortcut keys were displayed on the screen.... one such is where I got to a roadblock on weight paint section, can anyone help with the shortcut weight paint selection ?
I did not have to bake the animation to render the image just as in viewport. It worked without baking. May be a fix that came in new update.
Unsure what I'm doing incorrectly. The brush never shows red moving across the cube. It's always light green to blue, thus it doesn't really affect cutting the grass at all.
How do I make this animation a seamless loop with the ball going all the way round the cube? I can't seem to get the grass in the last frame to match the first frame.
All very nice! Thank you, but i always have one problem with the grass or wind tutorials: the grass object itself is stiff and is not bending, it is leaning towards the wind direction but never bending in itself. Can you make a tutorial on realistic wind/bending?

I’m still confused on how you did the ring to make it go around the grass?

Amazing tutorial. Question tho, anyone know why the grass starts moving faster and crazier as soon as my object touches the cube? its like the wind gets x5 stronger

Same problem here, kindly share the solution if you found any. Even after deleting the force-field, nothing changes.
hello dear , Thank you for this amazing tips and video! i would like to know more how did you make the ball rotate all around the cube in the render video,is there a way i can decide the path on a line or something ?
@Simon3D
2 жыл бұрын
Hey :) glad you enjoyed it. Yes the sphere simply follows a spline around that cube :) there is a constraint I believe "follow path" where you simply control where on a given path an object is supposed to be, so just animate that value :)
Thanks for the tutorial! Can you explain please : I add curve and ball follow it perfectly but it cuts only the upper part. What do I need to do for cutting all sides when the ball follows the path?
