Create Quiet Luxury in 6 Simple Steps. Capsule Wardrobe. Minimal Style.

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hi Everyone,
I know Quiet Luxury trend has been around for a while, but to me this is NOT a trend and you can apply it to your wardrobe whenever you want. You just need to understand the principles of the style and make it your own.
This video is sponsored partnership with LILYSILK, but it doesn’t affect my honest opinion about the clothes.

I agree with you that "quiet luxury" is a lifestyle. This aesthetic has been around for decades and I love it. Your style is right up my alley. The silk blouse with the one button is stunning, but as a 66 year old woman, I probably would find that uncomfortable to wear. You were about the 12th fashion influencer that has been promoting Lily Silk garments, but it was refreshing to see some different options. Your styling tips were very helpful today. Thank you.

Hello Diane, thank you so much for your comment. That silk blouse has actually 3 hooks closure(I just styled it more open) and you could wear it with a fitted top underneath. The closure is designed so well, there is no way it will come undone🥰

I’ve always dressed quietly, classic style, modestly, and nothing too extreme, and I love luxury fabrics/materials, especially silk and genuine leather. This style is one that I’ve always employed, long before it got its name Quiet Luxury. It’s really only about buying high -quality items and not dressing in a sexy, super-trendy or showy way, but using restraint and simplicity instead. Unfortunately, this term and Old Money style have received a lot of political and social criticism, but people keep searching for media and brands that feature it by the multi-millions. It seems that everyone wants to wear it, but to criticize it, too, strange.

Many of us have ALWAYS dressed this way. About 50% of my wardrobe is Ralph Lauren vintage. I have wonderfully classic items in mostly neutral colors. I do have some Rl print dresses in pink prints. These too never really go out of style...they work for me perfectly. I have three linen midi skirts for summer also RL. Blazers, blouses, v neck sweaters on and on slacks shorts etc.all RL. These have been purchased over 20 years. I never ever get rid of them...I do cycle them through depending on current style. Almost are silk, linen, wool, cashmere, or cotton. I am very hard to fit in shoes. THOSE are my problem always. Summer is solved with my favorite pair of walking sandals in a silvery gold that goes with either metal. It is easiest for me to find boots for winter that for my 8 1/2 B front A heel of foot. Regular size 8 1/2s do not fit me. In boots I can use socks to adjust my heel width. I CAN wear slingbacks,,,low ones with BLOCK heels but they are hard to find almost always...those sculptural tiny heel circumference at the bottom shoes cant be worn without wobbling dangerously on cobblestones here risking a sprained ankle. I do wear sports shoes for casual as is the fashion now. But shoes for dressy looks for me are all but impossible to find even when I return to MIchigan Avenue in Chicago with a selection of thousands of shoes. I went searching for a solid week this summer and only found one pair of nice esparadrilles. It is easy to dress in classic style. And cost effective too, per wear, plus the feel of the fabrics are unbeatable compared with cheap fashion.

My hypersensitive skin can’t tolerate synthetics, even in blends, and I overheat in them before long, anyway. They are just plastics, they don’t breathe at all and the sharp fibers irritate the skin. I love soft fabrics and discovered silk, my favorite, by looking for something soft that is comfortable to wear. Now I have many silk items and wear them three seasons, and linen in summer. I can overheat even in cotton in the summers, but at least it’s breathable. High quality, eco-friendly versions of rayon, like Tencel and Ecovero are really nice, soft and breathable, they are fabrics I also love. I just avoid the very thin rayon/viscose at fast-fashion brands, it puckers and goes limp.

My favorite fashion/style quote, I think from the late designer Vivienne Westwood, goes something like: buy fewer but better, choose carefully and make your things last. This is the way to achieve this “trend”, which is nothing new, the most chic women have been dressing this way (Quiet Luxury) for a hundred years. When it’s time to add something to my wardrobe, I look at the brands I love and choose just a few high-quality, classic, but up-to-date items. Having a limited color palette and an idea of one’s most flattering style elements, helps, too, and I search by fiber/material to eliminate all the junk if shopping a new brand. Another quote I love: “I’m too poor to buy low-quality clothes”. It’s actually true, this incredible abundance of trendy styles every minute is very new, only 20 years old or so, and adds up to more expense in the end. I’m 63, and still shop the “old way”, a few items I really love at a time.

You were already in that Quiet luxury “trend” Most minimalist classic fashion is quiet luxury, on the other hand the “old money” style cannot be duplicated: it is an attitude that is innate with the fact that you were born in money and it cannot be faked!

hello and thank you so much for your comment. For dinner at friends’ I would usually wear something comfortable and practical (stain resistant or something that’s easy to mask the stain and with a space for dinner😜)… a maxi/midi dress, tailored trousers and a shirt or t-shirt and a blazer, all black or all navy (silk shirt and tailored trousers would be nice) with lots of gold/silver jewellery (very classy and easy to pull off). Basically something you can put on and forget it’s there so it doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable. I hope it helps😊

All silk and cashmere are washable, except if the garments have non-washable elements, as the stiffeners, etc. they use in some jackets, coats, etc. I have a mostly silk wardrobe and wash it on my delicate cycle and hang (wovens) or lay flat (knits) on a towel to dry. I just washed my “dry-clean only” Ralph Lauren silk shirt, no problem (it had some seam puckering, but that is inevitable when washing anything). I love silk because it rarely needs washing unless it gets a spot, or ironing, is soft, lightweight and dries super-fast. Never use Woolite, even the one for darks, it fades clothes like crazy. I love Perwoll 3D for Blacks (or something like that, via Amazon), it’s perfect. Silk is great for travel.

I appreciate the quiet luxury aesthetic and I really like natural fibers. However, trying to find either of these things in plus sizes is a bloody nightmare. Locally I have yet to find a blazer made out of wool, cotton, silk, or a blend. I haven't found anything online either. I like the look and appreciate the fabric but as a plus person this is just not possible. ... and yes, LilySilk seems to have taken over KZread. (also does not have plus sizing)

I really sympathize, I was unable to lose weight even though I ate only an incredibly restricted 800 calories/day for 22 years. My diet was almost entirely carbohydrates because I was always so hungry. One reason I lost 40 lbs. was to be able to fit regular size clothes, but the main reason was for my health. I wanted to buy from any brand, and plus-size clothing has a only a tiny selection of polyester crap, mostly black and boring. Another idea in the meanwhile, if you want better quality clothes, Lily Silk, one of my favorite brands, has free custom-sizing in their woven silk items (not knits). I ordered their beautiful silk cargo joggers in my custom size, before I lost all the weight, they’re wonderful. Theory also has beautiful quality and generous sizing. I just eliminated all sugar (I don’t drink alcohol anyway) and walked an hour a day, it was a slow but easy way to shed fat, about 10-15 lbs. per year. Now I feel great as a regular size Medium, have much more confidence, a better-quality, beautiful wardrobe, and have no more diabetes, etc. Work on your health, you can do it❤
