@@HarryCopperPot because the same Pamela Anderson looks like a queen of England conparing to todays influencers and brainwashed people chasing the “beauty” standards created by them. Besides even in the 90’s Pamela was an extreme and not a standard looking woman. Meanwhile nowadays in the West we are literally surrounded by duck lips drag queens lookalikes.

I remember seeing her at Greenwich train station. She was waiting for train in morning with me to take her to NYC she stood close by to me outside on the track as we waited for train to take us to NY. it was winter time and she wore a long black coat. She had no makeup but strikingly beautiful. All the men who walked by her would stare at her. She was demure and her head would be slightly down or look to the floor. I still remember that moment. Her beauty overpowered her simple black clothing.

She was tall, thin and blonde (changing her hair color took her from attractive to striking). It isn’t difficult to achieve a great look with those traits, and she knew, as Jackie did, that classic and minimal designs were most flattering on her. Nothing fussy or loud. Simple lines and silhouettes, high quality fabrics, timeless designs.

Of course, noisy luxury never goes out of style, especially for women like Carolyn, who was exceedingly costly for John Kennedy. She set out to capture John Kennedy, and she did. Worst decision of his life. After marrying her, John Kennedy was never happy again. Wearing clothes is not much of an accomplishment. Seems that is her legacy. John deserved better. I bet John's mother would have seen right through Carolyn. Jacqueline had first-hand experience dealing with gold diggers. Her own sister was a devout golddigger. Lee, too, knew how to wear luxury out in public.

When I lived in NYC in the late 70’s I’d see a lot of models on the streets and in the showrooms in the fashion district. They would come in with hair tied back, no makeup, jeans and a turtle neck and I was always in awe of how great they looked wearing minimally. Thats because of their height and thinness…average women could not pull it off, and the reason why CBK could. She was 5’9”, not the average woman’s height of 5’2”-5’4”. Those 5-7 inches of height makes a huge difference. Why do you suppose designers use models on the runway and not average women?

Good taste is timeless. It is never trendy. Trendy is trashy, a way to sell clothes to the less-than privileged. Black and white is always in because it is never out. The LBD is not a trend, it is a main-stay. Pearls are not trendy. They never have been. They are "class"-ic. There's an old adage of Blue-Book, Blue-Bloods: a lady's name should never appear in the newspaper, except when she gets married, and when she dies. People of privilege live quiet lives, under the radar. Rich people wear what they grew up wearing. They dress in code for one another, as part of the club, not to impress anyone. "Quiet, good taste." The "classy" Rich know who they are, they grew up together. They attended the same schools, went to the same Events. Kardashians are not klass. They are spot-on Trendy. The lower classes worship them. Trash with cash & flash.

Missi Caroline was such a gold-digging class act. She could be heard all over Tri-be-ca screaming at her meal- ticket husband, the accessory, the charm on her bracelet. She provoked him, and he could be heard screaming back. They often had public arguments. He was the Crowned-Prince of America. She was a nothing, not prepared to be a something. She brought him nothing but misery. Marrying her was John Kennedy's worst mistake. She was a working girl who bragged to the girls about going after John Kennedy, to trap him. Such a shame he fell for her duplicity. I bet Jackie O would have smelled a rat. Her sister Lee was a professional gold digger, internationally recognized as such. Lee did have a classier background, as well as impeccable taste in clothes. You need to read- up on the Caroline/John marriage. It was awful. The man she set out to trap......she hated his family. She would not spend time on the weekends at the compound with her husband's family. Of course not. They would have sized her up before dinner. Much of the perfect couple's contention, is that she did not like John's family or John's lifestyle. Wha? She did not have the required decorum to at least smile when they went out. John was from a notorious political family. He ran a political magazine. He was a social animal. John had charisma, John had class. He had to put up with her "Debbie Downer" shit all the time. She was an embarrassment to him. Why in the world would she chase down a public persona, a famous kid who was known around the world, with an equally famous huge "clan" of a family, why would she set a goal to trap such a person? She was obviously dumb as a brick. Shame on John Kennedy, he could have had any girl in the world, and he chose damaged goods. At the time of his death, John Kennedy had not spoken to his sister in months. They were on the outs because his sister could not stand his wife. There was good reason why Calvin's showroom assistant didn't want to be around any Kennedys. The Kennedys didn't want her to be around any Kennedys.

Carolyn dressed for Calvin Klein, Inc. where she had a job Her fashion sense was garnered from the Calvin Klein showroom. Calvin's tastes were the ones you ascribe to Carolyn. He was a quiet designer of clean forms, classic cuts. That was his signature. Only Halston had a "cleaner" look, more original. ALL those secretaries and ribbon girls had great taste. That was their whole life. Why waste your life reading Tolstoy when there's a sample sale on the Lower East Side? Those girls all dressed for each other, not for men. Carolyn's wardrobe was "classic" because she couldn't afford to be trendy. Trendy is expensive. Every six months, trendy is expensive, all over. Those fashionistas all knew each other and kept each other abrest of insider sales and discounts. It might be said that Carolyn's distinction was wearing clothes. Rich people are thrifty. Pearls are a wise investment. You can wear them anytime, anywhere. They're waterproof. They go with everything. You can't go wrong on pearls. It's a wardrobe staple for wealthy women. All the other "ladies" with pearls will recognize you, whether they know you or not.

I was a young girl of ten when John and Carolyn perished in 1999. It sounds utterly strange for a child, considering the level of sophistication and austerity that was prevalent in Carolyn's wardrobe; but, she was my style inspiration then. Whilst in the fourth grade, I was given the autonomy to select my own clothing at the department store for the first time. I gravitated toward all-Black ensembles, much to the dismay of my Mother and classmates...the latter of whom, inquired as to if I was "trying to be a witch?" I had already been cultivating a deep and abiding fascination with fashion. I was trying to be minimalistic and elegant as a child because of Carolyn. I chose those clothes to emulate her in the Spring of 1999. I was quite devastated that summer when their plane was announced missing. Carolyn's sartorial choices will always be thoroughly embedded within my heart and mind. 🖤

The dress is Chanel haute couture. The story is that Carolyn was in talks to be a brand ambassador for Chanel. It’s one of the most beautiful dresses I have ever seen. I would only quibble because she was wearing it to the funeral of John’s friend, Billy Way, who was a drug addict and died after being hit by a car.

I do wear this style of fashion today, I am a natural blonde and I love black, tan, cream white, and grey. Like Carolyn, I love solid colors, and not too many prints as far as tops, with the exception being animal prints. She and I have similar tastes however I do not buy Prada nor do I have the budget for it. I really loved seeing this video about Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's style. I never saw her as a great beauty, but I thought she was very sophisticated and I loved that about her. Her elegance will always be remembered.

I would say her style is timeless and inspiring. It looks simple but she must have studied her style carefully, not throwing the first thing that come to her hand in the morning. Her wardrobe is sustainable, she bought quality material , natural fibers, and she could wear these for years

I actually dress similarly, as far as color blocking, lots of solids, texture. Will buy same top in black, white, navy, grey. Black, tan, white, navy pants. Jeans: different denims + white. Love sweater tops (when cool enough, Gulf Coast gal) Love the white shirt look...with jeans, pants, skirts -- will take the 2 front ends and tuck on opposite side waist. Love that....and LOVE that look with a long skirt (trumpet, gored or sarong)! Love mix matching something old w/something new, for an updated, contemporary twist on a classic look. I do wear 8mm pearl most every day, or larger upon occasion. I love fine earrings + bracelets...That is where we differ. Plus, I wear active wear.

She certainly had her style choices firmly chosen. They fit her frame, height, and aesthetics. It is East Coast sophisticated preppy and boarding school elite picked from luxury brands. She is like a modernized version of John’s mother; fitting to be in John’s world. I wonder what happened to her wardrobe left behind, if her parents took everything belong to her. The black Birkin was probably perished in the ocean. Her style is good on her but I will never copy. It won’t look any good on me at all.

Carolyn’s Birkin actually belonged to Jackie O and that’s why she used it so often. I believe even with the hysteria surrounding the bag today, were she still alive she’d use it because of sentimental reasons. One or two well used and lived in Birkins if you can afford them is fine, hoards of them on display in your designer closet is such a display of conspicuous consumption that it becomes distasteful 😢

What a unique, classic, sophisticated beauty she was- full of life. They were a beautiful couple. So sad that they could have hired an experienced pilot or traveled during daytime w/ good visibility. Pilot error, death spiral for the young folks that don't know what happened. The Bessette family lost 2 of their 3 daughters. I hope all 3 are in a better place and I hope that didn't suffer when they crashed( something tells me it wasn't that instant). Tragic unnecessary loss. I miss 1999, terribly. Other than my children, I wouldn't miss a thing going back in time. I adore her style and wardrobe but I am a shorty and couldn't pull off half of what she wore. Loved flair pants( which I still wear) paired w/her belted coats. I remember the photo of her fighting w/JFK Jr. in Central Park, wearing Champion sweats and I thought" she looks great even in sweaty clothes"! Most important- her Narcissco Rodrigo wedding gown. Did you show it. A family member of mine had her gown copied of that look. Timeless Beauty💔RIP CB, LB, JFK Jr.

Carolyn's style works perfectly today. /There is nothing preppy or boarding school about her wardrobe. One could wear every single piece she chose today and look terrific and au courant (except the leather...not such a good look). Simple and elegant. You could have her look with ten pieces of clothing, no need for duplicates. Okay, maybe 15 pieces.
