    I have the 1723 floor standing speakers on an Emotiva XPA-2....and they are ridiculous. You have the nicer Emotiva monoblocks, so I'd venute to say the 1723 floor standing units would be even more ridiculous for you. Worth every penny they cost...and then some.

    Been enjoying music for a while then went looking for some info on decent speakers and found your channel. Picked up a set of those sscs5 on your recommendation. Then got a WiiM and the hd upgrade to the prime account. Plugged in a hd fm receiver and now am really happy with it all. Using the cheapest 5.1 that Onkyo ever put out and am continually amazed at the sound quality. I am a low budget guy and still was able to put together a decent sounding system. Dude, you rock. Thanks!

    Vintage speakers, especially British monitors had a mid bass bump and upper mids dip to make music sound better. Many modern speakers have the opposite voicing. I search for the speakers with the juiciest thick, meat on the bone mids. I don't want Barry White to sound like Barry Gibb 😅

    Randy thx speakers have to meet certain requirements for dispersion,frequency response,and output vs distortion. They're categorized by how much they can take in that given class , the categories are compact, select,ultra and dominus. Compact being the entry point of certification and dominus being the most brutal test to pass . Per listen speakers and subs are dominus certified, but who the hell can afford 15k a pair for towers and 10k per sub 😂😂😂Hope this helps .

    Hi all. I have had my Monitor Audio rx6 for years and i love them. Not high end but a really good allround speaker. I bought a couple of Arendal 1723s standmount and i really like them. For the money, its hard to beat. I also got the 1961 bookshelves and those are great too, but the 1723 are of course better, bigger more put together soundvise. I tried alot of speakers before i bought these, B&W, Dali and so on. I could not find any that was better for me, at this price. But this is a matter of taste. I paired them with 1961 1s sub, and A REL sub to try out. I couldnt be happier. I also bought the XTZ a2 300 power amp. Then it got real fun. They do need some power to come alive. great vid, thx

  • @gregmatula9749
    @gregmatula97498 ай бұрын

    This was designed to work with a sub it has a 12 DB/octave slope made to match up with a 12 DB/octave high pass filter on a AV receiver. Combined is 24 DB/octave that matches up with the 24 dB/octave crossover to the subwoofer. Lower amounts of phase shift and group delay make it easier to blend with the sub. That thin male vocal range means that it will work okay hanging on a wall. This is their idea of a surround speaker.

    Thanks for the review. They ship to the US from Norway but if you return them they go to Chicago so they may warehouse returns there. I have the 1723 THX towers and agree they are built like tanks. They weigh 111 lbs each. I love the sound especially the bass with all 3 ports open. I like a softer more neutral treble and they deliver that in my listening room in a 2 channel setup. Their customer service is excellent too. With their buy and try risk-free return program recommended giving them a listen if viewers are interested.

    OK, let's get this out of the way...I'm an old guy. I hit my HiFi stride in the early seventies, when all the best (now vintage) stereo equipment was flooding the market. Likewise, I also had the good or bad fortune of serving multiple tours in Europe during this time. For many that doesn't make much sense. I mean who cares. Right? Well, if you got sucked down the HiFi rabbit hole during this vintage period and found yourself an American service member in the military overseas, You would already know that top end stuff like Phase Linear, Pioneer, Sansui, Kenwood and JBL gear could be got for about a quarter of what it would have cost you in the states. So what does a single soldier living in a barracks, free of change with medical and meals covered, have to spend their money on? Stereo stuff. Lots and lots of stereo stuff. A good friend I went to high school with ended up as a sound production engineer for Warner Brothers Studio in LA about the same time and he began raving about the latest in recording technology called quadrophonic sound. He would send me these recordings (of which I still have DSOTM) and he would recommend me to buy these reel to reel decks to play them back on. I did and to get to the point, the whole thing was bullshit. You needed specialized equipment to run the other specialized equipment you had already bought in order to play a tape or LP that cost you six times the money of the regular stereo recordings. And in the end? Meh. Sp when all the noise about THX began, I just turned down the volume and ignored the hype.....until I went to a large theater in Würzburg to catch an early release of Star Wars. I swear on any book you want me to.....I felt that battle cruiser blast through my frickin' lungs. The THX folks had already come in and installed the special sound system THX needs to play their sound and it was a soul crushing experience. I've recetly found that any device that employs THX technology will represent as ultra flat sound. I invested in an THX Onyx dongle DAC/AMP and it is an amazing device, but for color or any enhancement? To the Nopemobile Robin! It gives the listener the flattest reproduction possible.

    I was watching a live recording of a band the other day whose bass player uses a 5-string and she often goes down to at least D1, 3rd fret on on the bottom B sting which is a fundamental of 36.7Hz (I've seen her let it ring open once on a video but the fundamental of c. 31Hz had been high-passed out). My speakers won't do those sort of notes but my modded Beyer DT770 250's will!

    I really like this brand. Their customer service is pretty great too. My brother has the towers (1723 S) and I like their sound. I too am kind of sensitive to the upper midrange. I have 2 B&W's 803N (Nautilus) which I also need to tame a bit with a good curve (I usually eq to an adjusted B&K curve, which better suits my hearing) ROON is great for this. But Audyssey Multeq-X also accepts a target curve, which I love! I kind of want to try the 1723 THX Towers vs. the Polk R700. I never heard the R700, but a lot of people seem to like it. Great review, thx!

    That's the "Holly Grail" to find an inexpensive set of wall mounted bookshelf speakers for Home theater. Most American homes are made of wood framing and are have small rooms ( e.g. 12 x 12 feet ) so it does not take much to "Rock the House". A Good set of bookshelf speakers that meet the standards of THX and Dolby Digital audio quality. Speakers that can play the highs and lows. Bookshelf speakers in range from $100 pair and up. Starting with 4" drivers and 5" an 6" drivers. Speakers with Nice Natural sound for Hours of Audio listening enjoyment. Speakers that are NOT to Bright and NOT to Bass heavy. Speakers to use as surrounds for 7.2.6 Dolby Digital atoms and 2 channel and 7 channel stereo.

    Expected retail $3200.00 !!! (Web Site source) Really!! At that price it's a pass from me. Thank you for the review and your perspectives. If they remain at $1600.00 they could be worthwhile. Have a great week my friend.

    If you read the info button next to it, the "expected retail" price is an indication of what it would cost in a retail store. The REAL price is 1600, since Arendal only sells direct from the factory, cutting out the distributor and reseller who typically command a 100% margin. So that "3200" is their way of saying these speakers can be compared to other $3200 speakers at retail.

    Unfortunately, THX certification doesn’t mean much of anything anymore. Back in the day, THX certification really made a difference and meant something. I saw Episode I in a THX certified theater, I made a conscious effort to drive almost an hour to get to. Now, THX “certification” can be seen on computer powered sound bars! 😢

    Same with all these products with Hi-Res certification, it just shows they are capable of producing up to I believe 40 kHz. This by itself doesn't make them sound particularly better than products where a company decided they don't need to produce 40kHz with their speaker....

    Only $1600?! Uhh there's no "only" involved there Randy. They only cost as much as 2 or 3 sets of speakers. I'm sure they sound nice but I can't justify that kind of cost for a set of bookshelf speakers.

    Attention Randy: They aren’t cheap and they aren’t easy to come by in the USA but you need to please get ahold of some German Maestro speakers(formerly the original MB Quart car audio) immediately please. Real German MB Quart didn’t just make some of the finest car audio speakers in history & become masters of titanium tweeter technology. They also made some fantastic speakers for the Casa! Im always on the lookout for good deals on real German MB Quart. As German Maestro the original masters continue to make fantastic car audio components & they have various lines of sweet home speakers. Thanks for being an authentic person in a world full of fake people and reprobates Randy. God bless you and yours 🙏🇺🇸🇮🇱.
