    I’m considering setting up a system like the one in the video, the Wiim Amp and the Sony SSCS5s. If I also run RCA from the Wiim to a Sony SACS9 powered sub, can I use the speaker outputs from the sub to power two smaller surround sound speakers as well? Would this setup even make sense? New to the game.

    I really think most of your review is on point. But largely the amp is a huge factor in mid range clarity and treble airiness. I have mine on a Vincent SV500 hybrid amplifier. The vacuum tube input drivers and massive solid state output section makes them just surreal!

    @Randy. Once again I had made a purchase mostly based on your reviews. This time I am putting together a new sound system for my computer. It currently has a Cambridge Soundworks (Henry Kloss designed) subsat speaker system, but I had become "used" to the single driver performance of the satellite speakers and wanted something with a better high end. Since I am fine with the output of the subwoofer from the system (for now), I figured the first order of improvement would be to change the satellite speakers to something larger and more capable. However, in going on my desktop, they needed to be small and would be put up right against the wall. After much reviews here on You Tube, the RSL CG3M had caught my attention. I discovered it first right here, with you, but I did check out others that reviewed the speaker and almost no one had anything negative to say about it, save for it having no bass. But given that I had a subwoofer anyway, that wouldn't be an issue. So I went on the RSL site and ordered a pair to test. After all, the company did offer a 30 day no-risk trial period. I was going to buy their amplifier too, but read that it has a restocking fee if I wanted to return it. So, I opted out of that. So I have had the CG3m's on my system for two days now and my initial impressions have me thinking that they are OK. The high end needed a bit of a boost, but I know I have some hearing loss on the top end and that was a given. But, there seemed to be a larger issue. Roughly at around 350hz, is a sharp boost and it makes the speaker sound very boxy. I have used my system's EQ to bring down the 250hz and 500hz a good 4 db down to mitigate the issue. It still sounds a bit boomy in that area. Overall, the speaker does have a full sound with the subwoofer, but listening to familiar tracks is very different compared to the single driver Cambridge satellites. The tweeters and high end is nothing short of beautiful as they image WAY better than the Cambridge satellites. But, even with EQ correction, I can still hear that midbass bonk. So my question is this. I was wondering if you noticed this in your tests because it is very noticeable.

    Also on the Class-D amplifiers, i am a Radio TV Technician who fixes HiFi equipment and i can tell ya that love and hype for Class-D is like the dumbest shit ever... if you really want a good amp that is EFFICIENT get a Class-A like a old Linsleyhood Class-A, other then Class-D an Class-A uses Low Wattage and rather tries to be efficient where you literally only need good 2 or 4 20watt speakers to actually fill a room with good clean sound... and to be honest nobody needs 150watts in their home... what do you try to do? Fill a mess hall with audio? Nah... you want to fill maybe a living room or a bedroom with audio, so all that high power equipment is a waste of electricity.

  • @nowaymangoshtomuchna
    @nowaymangoshtomuchna3 сағат бұрын

    Oh also forgot, a Class-A linsleyhood is also a heck of a lot cheaper then any Class-D, a lot of companies make those and they go for round about 50 to 100 bucks, also the speakers are not very expensive and they are sure a bit bigger but the actual tweeters and bass parts are tiny

    The Fiio is a cheap tape mech sure, you have to align the azimuth sure but here is the thing, among a lot of portable cassette players it is the BEST you can get right now that is brand new and working! Sure you could get a new old stock vintage player and put new belts into it but dang thats like your choice to make, NOT THEIRS. Your enjoyment matters and if you have fun with it POWER TO YOU! Enjoy the music however you want to, cause its your life! What a lot of these idiots also not understand, especially the Vinyl crowd out there, a proper recorded cassette can sound far better than a vinyl record, why? Cassettes have a far better Frequency range and can reproduce far lower frequencies which is far better for BASS reproduction, is it the best format for audio fidelity? Hell no, if we want to open that can of worms i would say only Reel to Reel is the best format in terms of audio reproduction and all that... don't listen to these idiots and disregard them as fanatics, all hobbies have those...

    I agree about the ELAC Debut 6.2's. Tried them out for a few days, but the sound, while impressive in terms of imaging (they were almost "blowsy"), was in fact sterile and uninvolving. Sent them back, now using Heco Aurora 300's.

    What purpose does a vu meter serve? It doesn't improve sound quality, due to more breaks in the signal path. It only increases production costs, and appeals to those who would rather be transfixed with a widget, than listening to the music.

    Yeah, turns out not to be my perfect solution. I have an AVR with a line out to the amps. This thing doesn't have an amp input on it. Remember, I've got one line out. I'm not going to split the RCA jacks to plug each set into the 2 amps, that and run the speaker wires from each amp into the amp banana jacks on this thing. I can't fathom how someone would use this thing. Come up with a better solution for me, please, OR, produce a video illustrating how to hook up a single AVR and 2 external power amps and involve this box. This thing's going back.

    I wish people who review items like these would at least read the manual and let us know what the specs are in a KZread comparison - otherwise, if I need to do all the research, I'm not going to bother watching your channel. I don't know about you, but I prefer my amps to NOT add color to the sound. I would like to be able to control that with proper EQ. If I want warmth, a bit of boost in the 700-2K region will bring the magic. If I want more "presence" or "air", I'll boost the midrange and/or the 4K-10K region by 2-3 dB. You could do a wonderful thing for beginner audiophiles looking to purchase their first piece of equipment by comparing the specs. Apples to apples comparisons usually start with testing the way the manufacturers do it - 1K into 8 - 4 - 2 ohm loads, connect a scope and look for clipping and distortion. The cost of test equipment has come way down and you could really assist newbies to make proper choices beyond saying things like "sounds OK" or "pretty good". Compared to what? One more thing - please try to break the habit of pushing your glasses up on your nose. I counted 40 times you did this in your 14 minute video here - it's kinda distracting. Maybe use an elastic sport strap on the back, or always make sure both hands are busy with the presentation. Thanks for bringing these inexpensive units to our attention.

    I had a chance to really look into this unit this past week in person. It's meh at best in my opinion. It has a lot of bells and whistles, but it seems like the whole thing is an after-thought as I was listening to the rep explaining it. That said, for what it is it is priced about right and the company business model is alright as well. It's just this unit is closer to paper-weight than useful in my opinion unless one has nothing to start with, it is essentially a preamp more than a streamer. I think the prior units they have offer a little more. I did learn though that I could actually get away with the little puck or next step up and it won't drain my tablet in an hour. As for a difference in sound quality between models, there isn't unless you are using one of the Amp models. That said though, the way I use streaming (70% research / 30% background listening), the Wiim would be more cumbersome than convenient for me. Others mileage will vary.

    I do like Crutchfield, also. I bought home speakers from them but they are my go to for car radios because they used to give free wiring harnesses for my car and separate what i can use in my car. Not sure they still do ┐(‘~`;)┌ but I'd hope so.😊 My biggest problem with Crutchfield is they are privately owned so i can't invest.

    I bought a pair of these along with a pair of the Sony SS-CS5's after viewing this video. About two years in and I can say that they sound differently from each other, but sound wonderful in their own ways. I have found the "Bright" high end of the MK602X's mellowed and the bass picked up, so much so that I really don't need a sub with them, although with a sub they are quite good speakers.

    To all those putting two meters on a small modern amp. Symmetrical layout on front panel with square meters on each end. Like Yamaha in the '70s or the Nagra round meters. It is just better design.
