CRAZY Indonesian Food Spread 🇮🇩 NASI PADANG in West Sumatra

Jakarta Crazy Nasi Goreng 👉 • Jakarta Street Food!! ...
Padang Food is one of the spiciest, bold, vibrant and exciting cuisine in the World. This is the first food vlog of my West Sumatra street food tour, and no better place to start than Padang itself, home to incredible Indonesian / Minang food heritage.
There is a lot of food places that I'll be showing you in this series, but this video focuses on the classic, unmissable, food spots and food to try in Padang. Below is the list of places we visit in this video:
📌 Warung Kopi Nan Yo: maps.app.goo.gl/Ty7CeZHBYL1vE...
This is the oldest coffee shop in Padang, people come here for their famous Teh/Kopi Talua, traditional West Sumatra egg tea/coffee. It'a legendary place, everything looks 100 years old inside, from the menus to the decor. And the coffee with raw egg is to die for.
📌 RM Pagi Sore: maps.app.goo.gl/wyP46PCLHqLpd...
Needless to say, there are numerous really good and traditional Nasi Padang Restaurants in the city of Padang; I went for RM Pagi Sore because recommended by several locals, and I'm glad I listened to them. Not only they have one of the best fried chicken I've ever tried, but every dish in that Nasi Padang flavour was a marvellous dance of flavours in my mouth! Obviously my number one favourite dish was the beef rendang, which still haunts me at night.
📌 Es Cendol Patimura: maps.app.goo.gl/1WTnY89gnjvHB...
This is the spot to go fo a proper street food cendol in Padang. Cendol is a refreshing drink based on coconut milk and pandan-flavoured jellies. The Es Cendol in this spot also contains shredded durian which made me happy like a kid when I discovered it.
📌 Sate Bahagia Indah: maps.app.goo.gl/y6QeZaRGH4Zhu...
Sate Padang is one of the must try food in Padang. This amazing street food spots make a version of 'black' Sate Padang which is acknowledged to be the most spiced and aggressively flavoured in the city. You try it and initially your mouth copes well, until you go for the second and the third one, and the burning/tingling sensation builds up and, strangely enough, pushes you to eat more...What a food sanctuary.
📌 Sate Itjap: maps.app.goo.gl/rFbWd3vffKLvf...
This is another local favourite for Sate Padang. I had to try this one too because they make a sweeter version of Sate Padang, which locals also love. I liked it for the thickness of the sauce which has an irresistible black pepper aroma. When it comes to the meat, I don't have a sweet tooth but it was lovely nonetheless to try this atypical version of Sate Padang.

@DanFandelli Thank you for this wonderful video. But as a Minangese Islamic scholar and lecturer living in Java island, pardon me, I must correct you: 1. The tribe and territory is called: MINANG (means: Win""), or can also be recognized as the Sumatra Barat/West Sumatra people. "PADANG" is just a city in it, its province's central city. It is usually hot in Padang. 2. Minang is NOT totally or purely Matriarchal. This special condition ONLY applies in situations considering tribal and cultural heritage. In other situations, normal ISLAMIC law is applied. As 100% of Minang people are Muslim. 3. The Minang real territory used to cover about 60-70% of the huge island of Sumatra, even also some part of Malaysia. Before the Independence of Indonesia. So you'll find lots of similarities in cultures in these areas. Interestingly until now, you can easily find Minang people in various places of Sumatra. Even in Java, all over our country of Indonesia. 4. The tastiest Minang foods and its variations usually are not in Padang, but in Payakumbuh, Bukittinggi, Solok of our West Sumatra province.

Indonesia will always improve, Jakarta is very fun to visit, soon there will be a very magnificent capital of Indonesia, namely IKN on the island of Kalimantan which is very beautiful, elegant and charming. Indonesia is indeed a comfortable place to stop and stay because of its friendliness, culture, pluralism and food rich in spices, wow amazing

When you see fried chicken that looks smaller, less meatier than normal chicken, usually they are free-range chicken. So, they are free from any kind of injections, and their meat is also more chewy. But remember, before all those industrialization in poultry, that's how a chicken grow, in a normal natural habitat. So, that is the way a chicken meat should taste like, not like sands that are melting in your mouth.

Correct, rice is used instead of bread, and that can be in the form of typical rice grains or compressed rice cakes, like the ones they put in the sate! The crisps are also often added in there to give something with a crispy texture!

We dont grow wheat here so rice, cassava and corn are our staple food, used even in deserts. Any food using wheat were introduced by the european colonial or arabic/chinese traders and still not as widely consumed as rice

Authentic minang rendang use buffalo meat not beef, because minangese prefer the harder, chewier texture and it wont fall apart during the long cooking process. Minangese put all kinds of proteins in rendang, chicken, lungs, boiled eggs, etc. It's originally created to preserve meat back in the day
