It would have been great to have had a friend like you, Styro, when I was in school. Most of the kids I went to school with couldn't light a firecracker.

wonder if he knows that standard on electrical there is max 90 to 120 amps? unless you get a line in for a 220 amp services you'll never be able to draw more then 120 from the line lol... we had to get a 220 service for an arc welding machine the current line couldn'y supply it enough power to even arc on light grade 304 steel 1/8 inch thick :-(

recently found out that you can make the laser beam audible. i was cutting some wood on my 2w cutter and suddently the 400hz PWM was audible from the spot the laser hit, it was carbonized wood. i bet ths could be audio modulated

I've been wanting to do something similar by modulating the q-switch on a high powered pulse laser so the little ball of plasma that forms midair would play music. unfortunately a setup like that costs a lot to put together but I like your idea for a cheaper alternative! i'll have to give this a try with a 5W laser.

All I could think was that isn't the way to treat a nice Fluke multimeter. The rest of the build was cool though. Considering you can't buy high powered hand lasers legally in the US anymore, building them is the only option that doesn't risk having them grabbed by customs.

To build lasers like this is totally legal for US citizens I believe, correct me if I'm wrong :) But selling them and buying them from manufacturers is illegal :)
