Akane is amazing. First she chokes up on her sticks, she is holding them a few inches up from the bottoms. Second she is not a big girl. Yet, she hits the drums hard, sharp and loud and it looks almost effortless. So good technically and … smiles the whole damn time. Wow. She is THE PERFECT drummer for Band Maid.

The drummer Akane uses double-pedals for her kickdrum, and she practiced so hard that she can do double drums anytime😊

Akane briefly had two kick bass drums but said she felt hidden behind all of the hardware, so she went back to one kick drum with double pedals.

Thank you for your comment. I think you can see that each member has a great ability. What's most amazing is that they have about 130 original songs, composed by the lead guitarist and written by the side guitarist, and there are no duds among them. Last year they toured across the US, to about 15 locations, and almost all of the venues were sold out. We have high expectations for their future success.

And a thing about the maid outfits, Z-Dawg: as Fans and Maidiacs know, Miku -- the 2nd guitarist, lyricist, founder and who worked at a maid cafe -- wanted to show that everyday working "Kawaii" girls dressed as maids in high heels while having fun and smiling could rock as hard as any guy band sweating it up in their hip, poor tortured artists "outfits"... and by showing that contrast (the Gap), it would generate interest, which it so successfully has done! It also represents Woman Power (Equality), which is an important theme with the Maids. Now they show up as Maids for all band business and interviews, etc. and have created a long-lasting, unmistakable, visual band brand. Very cleaver, Miku. Your diabolical plan for world domination is working, Po! Of course, none of this would work if their music and stage performance wasn't at such a remarkably high level. Band-Maid is considered by many of their fans and Maidiacs to be the best hard rock band in the world - maid outfits and all!

Good observation about Band Maid music making people feel better. I think they’ve come around at a time when some fans are just done with the screaming, angry, egocentric rock bands. How refreshing to have five little Japanese ladies deliver creative hard rock while smiling and joking with each other? And putting the fans first at all times? All this energy and effort you saw in this video is exactly how they do it for every okiyuji (serving). I saw them last year in a 700 capacity club. My favorite description of that event was that it was like seeing early Led Zeppelin in a coffee shop. They absolutely blew the roof off the place

Kanami, lead guitarist, is also the composer and musical director. Very unselfish musician, plays her guitar just what serves the song the most even She is true shredder. She is also perfectionist and workaholic who plans how these songs works best on liveshows. For me..She is the most impressive musician of the 21st Century 🔥🤘❤️ Greets from Finland 🇫🇮

Separate comment for recommendations The three songs you’ve done so far all travel in the same musical lane for the Maids, their arena pop rock. I would like you to hear just how good they are at different things. It’s not forced, but natural outputs for such gifted musicians and songwriters. “Influencer,” not even sure what category this is. But Saiki raps in it 🤷🏻 “Blooming,” leans into their punk DNA with brilliant transitions “Wonderland” progressive, cinematic rock with jazz fusion influences “From Now On” heavy metal instrumental with a balanced attack. Emotional storytelling without a single word Enjoy your journey 👍🏽

The only one not smiling in this video is the bassist MISA (The Barefoot Assassin). At this time she used whisky as her stage drink and she was so drunk she could not leave the stage in a straight line. No matter how drunk she was, never missed a beat, and the other band members even thought her playing got groovier when she was drunk. However, my guess is that she due to this had to concentrate so much that she could not smile. Today she has switched the whiskey for beer, and she often has a huge smile on stages.

Akane's nickname is "The Beast", since she's Half Gorilla & Half Drum Machine. It is a single Kick Drum, but a Double Pedal. When they started Akane used a single pedal and MISA had a 4 String Bass. The each had to learn new ways to play. MISA is serious about Bass. That's why her nickname is The Barefoot Assassin. If you haven't seen Orenge's videos on the girls you should. There's one for each of them and three for Miku In the lyrics Like To Be A Freedom isn't a translation. She says that in English. But all of Miku's lyrics read like poetry. Saik wrote the lyrics for 'Hate?'. A poem it is not, more like a combination Dear John and poison pen letter. But everyone in Japan wears a public face, and most of that famous politeness is superficial.

Right after that quick bass part, into the break, Misa plays beautiful strummed bass chords, too. She has every technique out there other than, perhaps, tapping (which requires you to do funny things to the bass tone to make it audible).

The Maids performing one of their (two) most performed songs: Freedom and Real Existence. But the Maids in this MV are pure perfection, aren't they? I mean, what can you fault? And those faces... their attitude... their music... their playing... their story... and their joy! Band-Maid is a world treasure, imo! MISA MISA MISA!!!!! MISA may seem scary but she is actually a quirky goofball and along with Akane (drummer) they are the comedic duo of the Band. For Akane soloing the entire song try "Shambles" for a Miku (Rhythm Guitar, Backing Vocals, Band Founder, Spokes Pigeon and Lyricist) as Lead Singer song try "Sayonakidori" (Nightingale)

Band-Maid = A band of maids. Not a sticky thing you put on a cut. Which in English in England we call plasters (yep really). Band-Plasters doesn't have the same ring to it. Their original logo was a plaster with Band-Maid written on it though. Which I didn't understand at all. Here, Band Aid was a charity rock concert to help starving Ethiopians run by that clown Bob Geldoff. Still, could of been worse, if "Thrill" never took off we could of ended up with Dance-Maid. Not joking. Anyway, this post is totally ironic, a lesson in if you steal someone elses language please get it right, and your reaction was awesome, very insightful, thank you very much kind sir. Enjoy your Band-Maid journey - subscribed. Oh if you really want these wonderful ladies to blow your brain check out - in this order, in one reaction pretty please! Band-Maid "Secret My Lips" official MV then Band-Maiko "Secret Maiko Lips" official MV Both are on Band-Maids official YT channel. You won't be disappointed! Good luck with your house move.

based off of maid cafes. there was never any link to Band-Aid. They never had a logo that looked like a band-aid, and they never sold band aid merch. One of their early logos had lace trim around it which i think someone is mixing that up for a band-aid somehow. when asked about the formation of the band it is always maid cafes. Miku has never mentioned band aids in any interview.
