Crazy Capoeira Master Setting the UFC on Fire - Michel Pereira

Спорт

Michel Pereira became a viral internet sensation even before the UFC. Now he is captivating the fans inside the octagon. The Brazilian ninja has adapted a dance-fighting style called Capoéira, and he’s about to display his skills in the cage once again. Perfect time to recall this extravagant striker’s way to the Ultimate promotion.

    The truth is you gotta get noticed to get fights. What better way than to win with an unorthodox fighting style? Other fighters will want to test you and fight promotors know you'll put butts in seats to show everyone something new.

    If anyone thinks/says that he's just showing off then they're unaware of what Caporiea is. Lol It just looks like a taunting antics *IF* you don't know that it's a form of martial arts practiced for centuries. The only fan-service he gave was not finishing the tubby guy so soon. It was gonna look impressive either way because of his *FIGHTING STYLE* * but the fans wanted more so he gave us more. Lol , but yeah that'd be easy. 🤨🤷🏽‍♂️

    Wow, Michel Pereira is the Brazilian ninja we never knew we needed! His Capoéira skills are so impressive, I wouldn't be surprised if he starts using the octagon as his own personal dance floor. Maybe next time he enters the ring, he can even incorporate some disco moves and really get the party started. Let's just hope his opponent can keep up with his killer dance moves!

    He’s extremely impressive, he gasses himself with rolling thunder kicks and somersaults that also set him up in bad positions, but when he’s not doing that he has impeccable timing and world class boxing skills. He basically fights like a UFC 4 custom character.

    I agree that he sets himself up in bad positions and a good fighter would capitalize on that. He also does some stuff that just looks crazy in form and usefulness. Whoever is sitting behind that keyboard customizing him must be on marijuana. Custom character! Loved that line. We love to see something new. Capoeiria was on one of my tee-shirts in the early 90s while in college because a friend's girlfriend had spent 18 months in Brazil as a child and bought it to give to me. I was waiting to see if it would make an appearance and this man has not disappointed in that like you say his timing and boxing helps him out and the crazy sometimes works.

    The stamina on this guy is off the charts....all these high jumps and flying kicks, are explosive moves that take so much energy to pull off. And under normal circumstances, are considered an extremely inefficient way to finish someone. It's a surefire way to gas yourself out before the fight even starts! it is super counter productive!....So for him to be able to do all of that on top of the regular energy required for a multiple rounds fight, is just astounding....and he does it so effortlessly!

    That's part of what capoeira is all about. It takes a lot of effort to do, yet it looks effortless because all the movements are so soft, quick, and fluid, and all the landings are very gentle and don't make any sound. It's about learning how to move through a large range of motion with strength and control. While also learning how to master the different angles through which the human body can move through on top of that. It's really cool stuff!!

    It seems like it can be super disruptive and disorienting to an opponent not knowing what to expect and how to defend and counter against it, then he can land that perfect KO punch when they can't guess where he is going next. However I feel like the longer this gimmick endures and the more high profile UFC fights he gets the more predictable he will become to a serious opponent, if they study his tapes they'll know when to wait and time a counter attack. He also seems to have no ground or clinch game at all, the danger is all in his strikes at range. Fun to watch though!

  • @Erime

    @Erime

    @@chrisoakleyfx and on top of the disorienting moves, there's UFC rules that need to be adhered to - so his opponents are kept calculating when his hands and a knee are on the floor, for example, and whether their kick might land in his groin. The dance was to disguise what was an outlawed practice, it was not originally a dance. Just like Kata in Tai Chi and Kung Fu, was developed out of the need for secrecy. This is why people mistake these arts for useless these days, the core has been replaced with its adaptations to get around draconian laws, couple this with the recent MMA rise through media, and people have a distorted view of martial arts (just as distorted as when people believed in McDojo's, it;s just now on the opposite pole). Almost all martial arts have value if they adapt and not cling to tradition. Even boxing didn't work in MMA until it was modified and adapted. Muay Thai wasn't effective until it changed it's punching techniques to be like boxing. BJJ was devastating initially, but had to adapt once the fighters learned some ground defence and BJJ guys started losing.
