Just Brutal Knockouts... Here's Why Fedor Emelianenko Was The Greatest Fighter Ever
Спорт
He mauled world’s deadliest strikers in cold blood, revolutionized ground-and-pound and wiped out a squad of UFC champions. During an unprecedented decade of dominance, Fedor Emelianenko conquered Pride FC royal division and went down in history as the greatest heavyweight in MMA. Let’s recall the brightest moments from the Last Emperor’s red-hot sledgehammer spectacle.

@@RMD94 That's your opinion. He surely is one of the greatest MMA fighter, top 5, but #1, that's really hard to say. As they say "styles makes fights!! so prime Fedor beating literally anyone is over exaggerating. After having been a UFC fan for several years, my intro to him (and the Pride: Grand Prix tournaments) was from the first time Rogan talked about him on his podcast. I remember two things. First, he talked about the fight with Nogueira, and the insane ground & pound, especially when Nog was in the corner, eating the viscous blasts Fedor was raining down on him. The second story was about the Randleman fight, which had “the slam”, and the kimora that Fedor secured right after being dumped on his head. I had been listening to the episode, and had to wait until I got home to find those fights on KZread. After hearing Rogan describe it, and as crazy as he made it sound, I was wondering if it was actually as bonkers as he had said it was. Well, he was right. When I was watching both of those fights, it was the first time I experienced a bit of anxiety from how brutal some of the action was. Plus, Pride rules allowed the stomps & kicks to the head, and the crowds in Japan are eerily quiet during the fights, so that definitely ratcheted up the brutality of the sport, compared to what I was used to seeing. Oddly enough, the kimora Fedor submitted was the toughest part to witness. He really wrenched Randleman’s arm & elbow, and in the quiet arena, the scream he yelled out in pain echoed throughout the building. Instantly, I was a fan, and watched a few more of his fights, a highlight reel, and a great mini-documentary on his mysterious training regiment, and the mystique of his rustic, hardened by the elements & Cold War era type lifestyle. A must watch, for any fan of Fedor, or mma in general. Btw, I somehow hadn’t seen the fight, or any of the footage from his fight with Herring, until just now. Holy shit, was that an epic, one-sided ass-kicking. That was a career altering fight for Herring, who quickly learned how badly outclassed he was, and wore it smeared all over his face. So scary!

Same. I started watching MMA with my Dad around 2011, and as much as I liked following the legendary champs at that point in time like Anderson Silva, GSP, Jon Jones, Jose Aldo and the like, one of my favorite things to watch was still older clips of the Pride champs (pre-UFC absorption) like Fedor and Wanderlei in their prime being brilliant savages in the ring.

I've not seen a fighter with the speed control and power that Fedor displays time and again, plus the attitude of gratuity and sportsmanship that sorely lacks in sport fighting. A true warrior of honor and skill

Vitor Belfort was kinda crazy when he started out. I would have loved to watch him and Fedor fight.
The best!! Long live the last emperator 💪🏼🇷🇺💪🏼
I won't lie.... Fedor won me over with class, respect and sportsmanship before anything else. He was the very best of his era! In the fight game, when you're admired and revered by your own colleagues, it says more than any fan ever could. Such a legend!
I don't give a damn, I cry watching Fedor. That is how good he is. Its not just the fighting , its his classmanship. He is a good man
I remember Fedor being so unbelievably respectful of everyone, and showing true concern and respect for other fighters who he thought he might've hurt during the fight. The way he let go of Randleman's arm, after the submission, holding it, and placing it in a position next to his body, hoping he wasn't hurt, and not wanting to cause any damage. I love how Randleman picked him up, and put him over his shoulder, holding his arm up, showing how much respect he had for Fedor. That big smile that came over Fedor's face was great! I can't remember what Fedor said verbatim about Fujita's punch, but it was something to the effect that he had never been hit that hard in his life, and said he hit like a mule! There will never be another Fedor. Poise, confidence, humble, kind, respectful, and an insanely talented fighter. I'm happy to have watched him through all the years, from the beginning. Jon Jones may be a badass, but he, as far as being the GOAT, no. Fedor emobodied what a GOAT REALLY is.

His humility is what made him a great man in my eyes... 🤗 After a loss he said "The one who doesn't fall, doesn't stand up ..." 👏😔

I've discovered MMA 15 years ago by watching Pride fights, Fedor will probably be my favorite fighter till i die. This calm and nice guy was just demolishing the opponents like a machine with no disrespect.
Greatest heavyweight of all time and possibly the greatest mma fighter of all time. Definitely on the Mt. Rushmore of mma. Truly a legend
