if the mets won that game 7, then on to win the world series, that endy chavez catch wouldve been the greatest in mets history and one of the best ever, but unfortunately its almost forgotten.

The 86 Mets had a game ending double play in San Diego. Liner into center. Dykstra throws home to third string catcher John Gibbons who gets leveled, but holds onto the ball. Then he throws the ball to third to get that runner.

2006 NLCS Game 7 was epic, Endy Chavez’s catch, Wainwright fanning Beltran on the most wicked curveball you’ll ever see with the bases loaded, truly a classic in postseason history... it’s a shame Beltran’s mostly remembered for that strikeout instead of his stellar career

The ball was barely over the fence in that first clip, the commentators were exaggerating quite a bit. The most impressive part of that play was the throw not the catch.

poocrafter2 you're an idiot. pause at 1:04 / 1:05 obviously when they say well over the fence they're referring to well over the fence to where it is a very difficult play to rob the homer. they're not saying it's a monster home run

Better than Willy Mays' catch. It took 2 runs off the board in a Game 7. Mays' catch happened in a regular season game. The Mets lost that game, but beause of Endy they had a good chance in the 9th inning. It was significant.

That was a super lucky catch! Lol. I don't think he even knew he caught it, till he looked in his glove and saw the ball. In his startled excitement he just heaved it the direction of 1st. base. To be fair though, looks are deceiving, I been to Oakland Coliseum and that distance from the wall where he initially caught the ball to first base is very short. Like less than 200 feet. Remember now, he not throwing to home plate. It much shorter distance just to 1st base. That said, that was some terrible base running to still get tagged out after the ball almost ends up in the 1st base side stands! Lol.
