As a person who animates in 3D (Source filmmaker to be exact) I do agree that it can make that "too perfect" look....that saaaiiiddd its also great for those who lack the artistic skills to draw or make something without computer assistance, see I see your point in your preference to stop motion buuuttttt CGI gives us less artistic people the ability to make what we enjoy

  • @Cranbersher

+Cranbersher Also you didn't mention it (or you overlooked it or I did in which case ima derpy derp) but you didn't mention how with 3D animation you CAN do full stop motion animation with it (As in you mentioned tweening but mentioning how you can animate like IRL stop motion with 3D models (See: Gmod animations) should of been mentioned there)

I prefer highly stylized animation, and what you do with felt puppets is definitely stylized. I'm not sure why there's so much obsession in the gaming industry with realism...we live real life all the time, it's not that interesting.

Not to mention all the analogue distortions and characteristics of still photography is captured in stop-motion. Lots of scrumptious "feel" that you wouldn't incorporate otherwise.

I'm an animation major and I absolutely appreciate everything that I've seen here so far! The animation college makes us learn everything from stop-motion to CG, to flash and hand drawn, to sand and painted animation. This is absolutely fun and glorious and gives a good in-depth view of animation and their animators! Keep up the amazing work that you're doing here and keep inspiring others around you! Lots of stars and sparkles for you!

I know you're still getting your how to videos out (so this would probably be something to do after that point), but I was wondering if you'd ever think of possibly putting out animation challenge videos to challenge your viewers to animate a little short something based on a theme?

Haha, Cranbersher, your style kind of reminds me of the first video or two on Caddicarus's channel, except you've pushed the awkwardness a bit further and made it into a theme. It's hilarious! XD I'm sure there are people who get sick of it after a while, but I love it. Also, your recent Jacksepticeye animation is the reason I actually finally took a look at your channel; I'm glad I did! ^.^

Id say that the real life puppets with real life limitations that are imperfect because they were made imperfectly by an imperfect human makes the whole stop motion process and indeed the results endearing. That why I am a Huge Tim Burton fan and apparently a fan of yours. :)

Perhaps he is also working on a Jack Septiceye animated video in the background, and that it will be the capstone of this tutorial series. After all, why not make a step by step tutorial while you go through the steps yourself?

You know... There's a lot of effort put in the animation CGI, and you can see it, or feel it. The thing is, I take it like that, it's an other kind animation using the same process giving an alternate result, but I don't think it is better than stop motion nor it should replace it.

I *HATE* CGI. In my animation class last year, I couldn't figure out how to make a model for the life of me. It all came out all weird and I had no idea how to properly animate it. I wasn't alone, either, my entire class didn't know how yo work the damn program either. People who say that CGI is too easy obviously have never tried working in Maya. either that or I'm just really bad at doing 3d models. I know I probably had to like practice a bit more, but for me I'd prefer either making little flipnotes. I'm going to invest on toon boom soon, though since I want to start doing some animations.
