Been on drugs since third grade, now 61 years old and have been clean since 2003. All I can say is god was ready when I was.

My dad was a trucker for over 50 years and he loved good country music like this. I just buried him a week ago today 6/01/2019 and I almost picked up the phone to call him today. Pops you are home now, mom has been waiting for you for awhile. Why don't you two sit for a spell and have a talk, she forgave you along time ago...we all did. Grew up on a farm, corn and cotton, early 60s, down a dirt road, near a small creek (never knew it's name) in south GA., and loved it. Many fond memories and this song brings em all back. Had to actually play outside for entertainment, OMG, lol, so many trees to climb...

I played this song at my 19 yr old son's funeral....my boy loved dirt roads, fishing, swimming in creeks, and enjoying life wide open... It's been 13 years but the pain still feels fresh.... I love this song- helps remind me that Ash is "home" waiting for me.

I have 2 sons. 11 and 1. I can't imagine anything ever happening to them. God gave you the hardest task any human can possibly face. Stay strong and think of the 19 years he was able to experience and cherish them. This song definitely deepens the faith of anyone who hears it. Its my moms as well. She always told my siblings and I ( Since we were kids) that this was one of the few songs, she wanted us to play at her funeral. Well memorial.. She wants the same as my dad. Instead he wanted a big gathering, he said he wanted no crying. I miss him tons!!

My dad passed away on April 23rd 2014. I never heard this song until after he died, now every time I hear it, it makes me want to cry because I've so many great memories with him. HOME, for me, is mama making biscuits in the kitchen while me and dad were working outside in the hot sun, my dad helped me catch my first fish when I was just 3 years old, he taught me how to drive, how to work and be a man. A lot of you might not care about all this that I'm saying, but at the time, I never really thought about how much those moments would mean to me, I'll never get those precious moments back, but I still hold tight to the memories me and him had together, but I'll be with him again some day, until then, I know I'll never be HOME again

This song touched me deeply. I managed a house for homeless men, addicts, and alcoholics... after I myself was a homeless alcoholic. My mind would always take me to good memories... although childhood was not one of them. Thank you for this. (6 years sober now) God be with you all.

My wife and I rescue horses of all types from bad situations. She is a real life cowgirl works 200 head daily on horseback. Rides 7 days a week. Never seen any woman ride like she can. Oh, This Song! That's just where I was, after 3 suicide attempts from my four yr old daughter being kidnapped out of her bed at night! I was " almost home" when doctors and nurses brought me back to talk. I didn't have any answers, but I knew, I was Almost Home! Sure was a much better place than what I was presently living in. It's been about 26 years since I asked God to carry me because couldn't take those first steps on my own. I became addicted to all types of prescription medications. You quickly learn, What pills get you up and going, which ones keep you going and which ones put you down to rest, but you very seldom seek rest. I had a job and had to raise my other children. God heard my cries and answered my prayers. I vowed to God, If he would help me, I wouldn't over dose on pills again. Here I am, over 35 years later, I'm still searching for my daughter, and God is still watching over me. This song is a comfort in knowing, although I was "Almost Home", God has other plans for me. And I haven't finished searching for my daughter, Jessica. I hope when it is my time to go, God let's me see and feel like, I'm Almost Home! 🙏 ❤

I'm 45 with a polycystic kidney disease. Lord everything sure looks different when your time is limited. I sure have learned to enjoy little things that normally ho unnoticed.

It took me 2 days to remember bits and pieces of this song to look it up. My daddy's birthday was valentines day. He weighed heavily on my mind! This song reminds me of when he was alive, he would drive the back roads, showing me around his stomping grounds in his 1988 5.0 mustang, Windows down, my long hair blowing and this coming on the radio and we both would sing the chorus! I cried my eyes out for I miss that man so!!! It's been 8 years and 2 months without him. It is suppose to get easier....Jen

those folks haven't been to New York between the city and Sharon, CT. Plenty of country out there......

Some songs just hurt and this is one of them. Beautiful pain is is the only way I can describe it.

One of the best country songs ever written. The imagery it presents can choke anyone, even the most selfish among us, up with tears.

I was at work listening to one of the local radio stations and this song came on. It was the first time I heard this song. I had to sit down. It is such a deep song. I found myself daydreaming about my childhood. Thank God for KZread. Now I can listen any time I want.

Used to listen to this song all the time. One of the saddest country songs, no, songs period. I’ve ever heard. Gives me nostalgia for another man’s life.

Amen have watched my son on revolving door in jail and probation thank god he found Christ in his heart and good program locally to help him thru this AMEN AMEN

This always reminds me of the good ole days. Makes me cry every time I hear it.

This song brings back crystal clear memories of my childhood along with all the wonderful people I associate with that carefree time. Most of them have passed away now but they live on in my memories. This song never gets old to me.

This is by far one of my favorite songs. This is real country. How could any country fan dislike this song?

It probably hits a little too close to home for some folks.

I took care of my mother in law for the last 6 months if her life. She played this song constantly. The day she passed I played it for her. I'm sure she heard it. Every few months I listen to it and cry, not just because I miss her so much but I know she is home and happy.

You know I sing this song to my daughter when she was a little girl about two years ago she had her throat cut but I think God I still have her here thank you Craig Morgan love 💕 from Tennessee

I first heard this song at work, I worked security for coal mines here in W.V., I was writing weight tickets for 18 wheelers, and the tears just flowed. This song makes me shed tears, no matter how hard I try to man up.

It's crazy I'm 41 my dad is 70 and loves all music but until the other day had never heard this song it blew my mind to know that.

This is one of those songs that will inevitably never be forgotten has such a great message on so many levels. I love this song and it makes me question what happen to the music industry.

It's very different now, but we do have some gems in our current generation, you should listen to Morgan wallen, listen to "Silverado for sale" such a great song like this one

This song makes me cry more reliably than any other country song with the exception of John Michael Montgomery's "Letters from Home".

You can't give this song a thumbs down. I almost made it home one time in 2013. That was a out of this world ambulance experience.

This song talks to my heart. God bless you all.

Lost my mom and Grandpa just over a year apart. Both lived with me. Sucked man too see people slowly die like disease does to people. This song gets too me.

This is the song that was "my song" when I was only 4 or 5 years old. I fell in love with the chorus, tho I didn't understand what it was talking about at the time, and every time we got in the car I begged my mom to search the radio for it. Years have passed and my mom and I have grown distant, but this song still holds a very special place in my heart.

Wish people would really listen to the words of this song and understand what it's all about. In some way or other we are all in the state that homeless man is in, but PRAISE GOD, we have something to look forward to if we accept the gift God is handing out to each of us!!

This reminds me so much of my daddy. He died on skid row alley in Seattle Washington in December 1978. He died homeless. A WW2 Vet. I was stationed in Korea at the time and couldn’t make it back for the funeral. He had been missing for many years when they found him dead. So sad 😞.

he has a voice that brings you back to the days that you never want to let go of. my mom passed away on my 30th birthday. and every time. my b.day come in February. I think about how much I miss her.

reminds me of walking down the dirt roads back in the sticks between Philadelphia and Dekalb Ms1960s. spending summer with my Grandparents. If time could only stand still.

This song makes me cry every single time. It's one of my favorite songs of all time.

I was raised in the 90's, but this song really hits home for me as my father and I would always go fishing. My.mom would cook and bake, I would always spend my time outside. Both my parents are gone now, and if I could only dream of going back to my childhood I would. I have that to hold on to and those were some of the best years of my life.
