Lindsay, whatever you talk about, you are the joy of our Saturday mornings. Between craft shows and KZread, I saw crafters making beautifully embellished cards. So I bought embellishments - tags, tiles, flowers, brads, eyelets, you name it. 8 Iris carts (the short ones, thank goodness!) of embellishments. Then I figured out my style is clean and simple. 😱 I kept them, used far fewer than I should have, and then my grandchildren came along. I gave them the run of the carts and they blissfully use TONS of supplies when they craft. I learned from them that nothing is precious and, if it is to me, I'd better hide it!

@@thefrugalcrafter Off topic but I have a question...I am looking to buy a set of oil pastels a step down from my Senneliers and I have been watching several reviews. You liked Pentel 1st, then another brand 2nd and Mungyo 3rd. Blackbean hated Pentel or the other brand but said Gallery were creamy and 2nd to Sennelier and some other artist contradicted both of you. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤯 I am wondering if some of them were just old and dried out before shipping? Where would you suggest purchasing them from for the freshest stock?

@@paisleypeacock1001 the panels have changed since I got mine. Sennelier are my favorite and then Paul rubens and mungyo soft oil pastels. I don't think you need to worry how fresh they are. Amazon probably sells the most so that would probably be freshest tho.

Lindsay, I want to thank you for your opinions and insight. Quite frankly, I rely on this information to avoid making costly mistakes. I am in the middle of nowhere and don't have access to resources like some people do. I am a retired country girl, and want to spend my time and money feeling good about what I do. I am really at the beginning of my art journey after working full time and raising three children and yes two of them are twins. They are grown now and I feel this time now should be more for me and my art. Thank you so much for all that you do.

I live in the country as well, and the web is a great source for supplies. In Canada there is Curries in Toronto, and Artist Emporium in Winnipeg. In the states there is Cheap Joes, Blicks and Gerry Artarama and out of England is Jackson Art Supplies that have lots of great stuff and will ship to your post office. If your patient and wait for sales you can get some great deals. Buy quality rather then just cheap...

Ordering supplies online is great for some art supplies and Jerry's and Blick do ship. But some supplies are better being picked up in person, they just don't ship well. Thankfully my local Walmart and Dollar Tree have decent art and craft supplies.

This has become an anticipated part for my Saturday mornings. Even when you have a rant, or share regrets, it is always with the best of intentions and in a cheerful manner. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and time with us

I could open a store with all of my regrets. Nothing wrong with any of the products, they just aren’t for me. When I first started making cards, I was watching certain popular card makers on KZread and bought whatever they used in their videos. I didn’t realize there were design teams and affiliates and that people benefitted from pushing the stamps and dies. I got a ton of cutesy stamps that really aren’t my style. But I thought that’s all there was because that’s what the KZreadrs were using. I’ve since discovered there are many, many companies and card styles and no longer let myself be influenced by the influencers.

I also purchased glass rods before realizing I am not a glass bead maker for the same safety reasons ( I even took classes to try and get by my fears) I put my rods in a clear glass flower vase from the dollar store then in a window that gets good sun ( in front of my kitchen sink) I can now enjoy the light passing through them and the beauty they create.

I had some dies that I couldn’t get to cut and then I saw a trick that worked for me on Natasha Foote’s channel. She uses foam packaging as a shim on intricate dies. It’s the very thin foam that electronics usually come wrapped in, and you can buy it at Walmart in the shipping supply area. I had saved some, because I can’t seem to throw away things I might be able to use later, and it worked like a charm. Also it makes it really easy to get the die cut out of the die, so maybe it would make your die less fiddly.

I think it goes between the paper and the die if I remember correctly. That’s why it helps when removing the paper from the die. Hope or works for you!

Another thing that works a treat, apart from using the shims( and doing a couple of passes) is wax paper/ baking paper between the die and the cardstock.....it helps remove most of the small bits ☑️☑️

A swap meet for crafters. That would be great, wouldn't it? I've got a ton of beads and several tins filled with large sequins that I'm probably never going to use. I can't even remember why I bought them in the first place. Probably because I'm a greedy little mountain troll and they're nice and shiny and have pretty colours and I've always wanted lots of them since I was a kid.😁

I’ve also said we N E E D a venue where we could either sell, share, or swap our goodies!! I’m sure that wouldn’t please the product “makers” any, but it might cut down the pollution in China a tad.

@@annieoakley2925 Hey, Annie O. …. Would you know how to reach the organizers of that swap that occurs near you? I think something in the order of a “TRUNK ‘r’ TREAT” might be doable, even with covid issues going on, and I’d like to get “how-to” input from others who have pulled off such a thing!

My biggest regret is all of the money that I spent on fabric!! I was a seamstress up until menopause. I woke up one morning and saw that I had gotten fat overnight. Vegan and yet fat!! Go figure. But in all fairness, I was a junk food vegan and got away with it for years. I have lost thirty five pounds since covid began and unfortunately gained seven pounds back and they won’t budge. For the last two decades, I have been about Whole Foods and can feel the difference. But when I was skinny, I loved sewing my own things to wear. When I gained weight, everything looked frumpy no matter what I tried. Store bought clothing looked better…but I lost my style. So, I started quilting…gotta use that fabric even if it isn’t cotton. I made lots of throws. We still use them. But, I still have a closet of fabric even after purging…and have lost my desire to sew anymore. My other regret is all of the digital files that I just had to have. I own digital files that have only lived in a cloud…not on paper or fabric. I just had to have it, kept them meticulously organized, and now can never find the file that I want because there are thousands of them to ho through. So, I have wasted money on flash drives, external hard drives…etc…in addition to the untouchable files that live in another universe. I also regret buying those stamp around the page contraptions that were put out by various companies…too much measuring and they still never came out perfect…and I had to have all of those stamps and various shapes. I threw them into a bag, but kept the stamps out. I still use them as individual stamps and like them better that way. I regret buying alcohol markers. They are not my thing. I prefer water based products. I now use the alcohol markers to color ribbon, etc for making cards. Finally, I regret buying all of these monstrous sized canvases and watercolor papers…what WAS I thinking?!?! I had murals in my head that I wanted to try. I am not Rembrandt or Picasso. They only made my amateurish artwork even more apparent on a larger scale!! 🤣 They are hidden behind furniture, the back of the closets, etc. if I end dying before my husband, he will be in for an eye opener. I pointed that out yo him. He said that he would leave everything exactly the way that I have it and let the kids deal with it all after he too us dead. 🧐🤨😆

Too funny!! But I can relate. I got rid of some of my fabric but discovered scrap quilts. Since It was cotton it worked out well. I've spent far more on paper crafting supplies😂😂

He does do a great job at the selling😂. But with all of the videos he did last year I can honestly say I am using the products and loving them. I think when you have the how to use the products in front of you it’s much easier. Plus I have a friend that loves and uses his stuff also so that helps. But we are all different in what we like or our comfort zone with things. I love the alcohol inks but only use them when I can have my windows open. With having a craft hoard of my own I am finally learning to try and take the lesson and apply it to what I have and try not to run out and get all the pretties that catch my eye. I have also inherited my Moms very full room so I shouldn’t have to ever buy paper. 😂

He DOES know how to be attentive to his onlookers, and THAT, in and of itself, makes for better sales. (A few carpet salesmen and big box hardware store attendants could take a lesson!!)

I truly have to say that I must be hornswoggled (is that even a word?) but I do love Tim Holtz, watch every video he makes, feel so inspired by his presentation, buy his stuff, and I am satisfied as a customer. I enjoy making with his products--I guess his snake oil really does work on me!

I laughed through this entire video. I have so many similar "buyers remorse" stories. I just keep telling myself that it is part of the journey. TFS

Regarding the glitter sprayer, face painters use those for a quick, 1 or 2 spritz, and you're done... and when you have a huge line of kids waiting to be painted, anything that speeds up the application process is gold!

Love the Sat Chat, I don’t comment much, but had to today. You are hilarious 😆 and sooo real! Lol! We all have crafting regrets! I regret all those scrapbooking kits, patterned paper, cardstock! I thought I had to have everything that went w a particular pattern! The paper, ribbons, buttons, etc…A few years ago I did a huge declutter of my art room (thanks to your Marie Kondo clean out vid). Getting rid of all that was the best thing, it was driving me insane to see it go unused. The best part of regrets is what you do with them…I donated tons of paper, art supplies to assisted living and retirement communities and local daycares. The smile on the faces made it all good for me 😉 As for the sprays, I had only bought one to try, thank goodness! 😂 I’m learning….

Sat Chat is always great but this one has got to be in TopTen. I laughed all the way till the end because most of us who watch this channel can probably relate to all of the above. Can you say "dainty delicate doily die" 10 times? Oh wait, Lindsay just did!

Now.....I don't live anywhere near California but so many products here have Prop 65 warning labels. A while back an acquaintance bought some lumber to build a new garden shed and, on the lumber that was delivered, it said "WARNING: Wood Dust created by Drilling, sawing, sanding or machining wood products can expose you to wood dust, a substance known to the State of California to cause cancer." We all know we're not supposed to inhale sawdust but...how do we not live around wood?

Just about everything requires that prop 65 warning if sold in CA. I have a desk lamp that had the warning on it. The warning is also posted at places of business like gas stations, grocery stores and even Disneyland. I believe it is a bit overused after 30 years.

I worked in life insurance for 20 years. We had CA warnings And many other requirements. We usually released to CA in a separate project, they were so complicated. So CA messes with every industry. Dont be afraid, there is way too much fear nowadays

That sketch book would make my granddaughter the happiest child in the entire world. She loves books with paper. Any kind, any paper. It doesn't matter. We have made many a book here, different sizes and shapes. I don't know any other kid that would get super excited about receiving a notebook or sketch book like her. She loves art and making cards and such so who knows, maybe she will be an artist one day.

Ikr as soon as I saw that huge sketch book I was like I love it really love it, as I'm a sketcher and I bought three reams of computer paper that has 500pgs per ream then I thought where would I put that hunken huge book, could I even lift that huge book to where I want to draw...atleast I can three hole punch my computer paper and put in a big three ring binder to carry different places so when I want to draw I can... ...lol many art blessings to you today...mikelle art mom👩‍🎨✍🎨

My 5 year old grandson too! He's going through a faze where he loves to draw; he shows me all his pages every time I go over (which I love of course!).

"I swear I don't have anything against Tim Holtz"... pulls another distress item out🤣🤣🤣 I think the things I regret buying most are things I bought because it was a good deal, not because I truly wanted them. It's not a good deal if I never use them. Fantasy me always has time to make all these things while real me is struggling to get any crafty time.

Omg I was that way when I bought my first set of good colored pencils- prismacolors- eveyrtime i would use just a little bit of a pencil, i had to go out and buy another just bc i didnt want to run out..and now i have all these duplicates and its hilarious...Anyway great sat chat/regrets video! Loved the video. Re: the Distress crayons- I never saw the appeal when they were first released but when I watched Tim’s Saturday videos about them I decided to try a few and like them. I recommend watching some of those Live replays because he gets very deep in to how to use all the products ( some of the vids are 3+ hours long) and they have been very inspiring. Maybe try to w one too.

I can relate. I have some regret purchases. It’s great you have a sense of humor about your regrets. That’s the way to go! I have the distress sprays, and fortunately for me those are not one of my regrets. :) I use the distress sprays for art journaling. They drip over the page and flow around the page textures in a creative way when you tilt them. Yay! (It helps to have a lot of absorbent cloth under your page to collect the excess.)

I hoard this Creative Memories paper that is gold and silver paper because has been discontinued.

That IS a big honkin' sketch book! I make books and journals, so I would disassemble it and bind it into smaller books. Sketch paper is perfect for bookbinding and the covers could be re-used as well. RE the cancer warning...California has very strict laws regarding ingredients, so if the minutest thing has caused a problem one time, then everything it's in is marked that way. If other states began labeling products in the same way, there would probably be a nationwide freak out. It's ridiculous and a lot of us here in California tend to ignore it because it's overdone. My daughter absolutely loves the Tim Holtz crayons and uses them kind of like watercolors in her cardmaking for backgrounds.

I definitely learned something from this video. I owe KZreadrs a huge thank you. I looked into a lot of the products you showed and didn't buy them after watching you and others show the performance of those products. The Distress Crayons were something I was very excited about but every time I watched a review I saw them acting in ways I didn't want to work with. Even really positive reviews showed the crayons not dissolving completely and not smudging well. But I would have bought several of those items so I saved a bundle. So Thank You.

As in "wow, I can get 24 colors at 10 dollars, surely that should suffice for a beginner?". Remedy/Recycle: They all went next door to our neighbors' daughter within the week. 2) Beginner not knowing which features of a stamping platform may come in handy. First bought one that is more like an embossing folder. Remedy: OK for nothing except sorting/pausing my stamps for the project at hand, still doing that today! 3) Intermediate Level 1: Buying Distress Ink cubes because they were cheaper than the regular pads. One of my more costly mistakes, actually. The material was fraying immensely at the edges, often dispensing little bits of thread. The inking level was very meh (aka dried out immediately), mess-free re-inking difficult (much easier with a full-size pad). Remedy/Recycle: None. 4) Intermediate Level 1: Buying a cheap set of 148 color alcohol markers. I thought of it as very expensive at the time, thinking that a set of 148 colors would give me sets for nice blending- aaah no. Lots of colors, but no 3- or 4-color combinations to work nicely for blending. No refills, no reliable color ident ("What's in a name ...") Remedy/Recycle: None. 5) Intermediate Level 1-2: Buying stamps with loads of English sentiments - the truth is, my family is not exactly anglophile. I liked the sentiments, I thought they were witty ... but they got lost on the recipients. 6) Intermediate Level 1 - 2: I was still buying 12x12 Paper Pads just because they were available suddenly. (I'm in Germany, remember?) Loving 3 designs, paying for 12, but oh so cheap. Remedy/Recycle: I have sorted the ugly papers out from the nice ones. Uglies 12x12 with a white backside get a new life when I need extra layers for large designs. Double(-Sided) Uglies are used to test cutting dies when they come in or as a work surface, some have gone to the kids next door. Will nowadays rather order individual sheets with the added bonus they smell nicer ... 7) Any level, but a big one!!!: Buying storage containers because they look as if they might fit the crafting space. Remedy/Recycle: So hard. No idea yet for most of them. Keeping a list with me now of container sizes that'd be really useful. 8) Any level Silhouette Cameo Owner: I have often regretted buying a particular cutting die (set) without looking for a similar SVG or studio file online. Cutting with Silhouette might not give you those nice rounded edges, but cutting multiples ... Man! 9) Sprays! I will never regret buying any Distress Ink Oxide ink pads incl. the re-inkers. I don't like the hype around the "new" colors, though. But I will not buy the sprays! What is the point? You can either stamp & mist or use the re-inker for the sprayer bottle. I bought two just for testing. Not a great success. Remedy/Recycle: The jury is still out on this. Should I just chuck it out? Should I find some usage for it around the home (as in stopping things from sliding around a drawer - have that)? Here by Lake Erie we have our 24 inches of snow even after sun melt and wind like nobodies business. My weakness is Estate sales and junk shops. So my regret is Too Much Stuff. You had a SatChat about using your good stuff before your kids had to sell it at a garage sale for ten cents. That is truth. I think I need a twelve step though.

Oh my gosh! Same!! Things I HAD to have for arts or crafts that have still hardly or never been used. I’ve probably spent a fortune on things that weren’t actually as great as I thought they’d be.

Great Sat Chat! I wish I could stick to one craft but always jumping around to different things. I used to buy bulk because of the savings. I'd have a lot of unused items leftover when I'd move on to another type of crafting. The enormous amount of acrylic paint will probably need to be thrown away as it hardens, but the mass of scrapbooking pads, embossing folders, ribbon, stamps, lace, beads, etc. should last my lifetime. I have gifted a lot of it over the past few years. I don't buy like this anymore, but definitely need to make time to purge some more. Enjoyed your chat - lots of laughs! Janet 💕

I'm so glad you have crafty regrets, too! I've bought so many full sets of pencils to satisfy my full set syndrome, that I got overwhelmed just seeing all of them. I have moved them to another place and now have a drawer with only two sets of pencils in them and feel so much better. Plus my desk has more space! Also, I, too, don't do open flame! :)

That giant sketchbook had my attention. I put it in and out of my cart forever but it looked like a workout to use. I ended up finding a similar book at 5 below with less pages. I like the size, don't feel intimidated by the thickness and I can lift it at will. I also have those UNI pencils but have only swatched them. They remind me of my Verithin.

There's warning ⚠️ label on EVERYTHING in CA!! I agree the sprays are too watery and distress inks are better. But I love using them on backgrounds. Some states have different laws from others.

This was a delightful SatChat. I particularly enjoyed that huge honking sketchbook- good for flattening completed watercolors, I guess. I dont think I could even lift it. And how different can glass be? Oh my. Think picture framing glass vs your iPhone. Hahaha. Chemist here with some glass blowing experience, and a lot of experience with glass formulation research, I can tell you that your mind would be boggled, boggled I say, to know what goes into glass. If you ever get the chance to go to the Corning Museum of Glass in NY, I highly recommend it! Thanks for sharing your regrets, I can happily say I dont have any of those to regret! I haven’t got too much that I regret so far. Maybe 1 or 2 cheap watercolor palettes, but at least they weren’t expensive.

I prefer a glitter pen like a "wink of Stella" or a glitter glue product like a "stickles" because the chaos is contained.

Guilty and foolish! Well GF you just nailed how I feel about my once happy place of products! So what happened to us ?

Many years ago when I was doing scrapbooking, I purchased a fiskars circle cutter because I can’t cut a circle to save my life. Well, it turns out that I STILL can’t! Not with this stupid thing! It’s been 17 years since I purchased this thing and I am only now trying to figure out whom to donate it to. Thank heavens for circle dies and die cutting machines!! I HATE THIS THING!

My fella refurbished several A. C. Gilbert Erector sets, including the cardboard inserts, which, in some cases, entailed cutting holes for circular parts boxes. WE used one of those gizmos to cut those holes - and I DO mean WE!! It took a minimum of 4 hands to operate the thing!! I will say however, the thing is an engineering marvel!! Firstly, designing the thing to get all the hole placements determined, and THEN for the TOOL MAKERS to get such close tolerances to mold the thing out of plastic (!?!) … P H E N O M I N A L!!!

@@alexaelliott2598 Dies ARE the way to go IF you can fit the paper / cardboard / whatever into an embossing/die cutting machine, but our projects are a minimum of 14" wide and at least twice as long.

So what did I learn today? That I can't live another day without the Tim Holts glitter sprayer! Going to order one from Amazon NOW! Thanks Lindsay! I'm a craft supply hoarder too. My husband gets frustrated with my never ending supply of paper glitter vinyl fabrics washi stickers dies don't forget all my watercolors clay and all the accessories you would need to go with all the crafts... if book binding junk journals ect ect ect . But it's my hoardand it makes me happy. S so so so so very happy.

Oh Lindsay, i recently had a slab leak and had to pack entire craft room. This has turned into a monster that is taking over my entire life. Had to clean garage today. I got rid of so much stuff. Years ago i created and sold at craft fairs, in my mind i actually was successful and made money. Hahahaha. I bought so many supplies to create thousands of items to sell … that never got made. Got rid of all those today. So hard to let them go even though i would never ever use them. But i feel really good now that they are gone. So in reality i am pretty sure my most successful quality has been buying and hoarding. I also bought all the new items. Distress crayons etc. once you spend precious coin on them you can’t just throw them out. So you buy wonderful cabinets to put them in..even though you don’t use them. Too tired to rant anymore. It makes you wonder, do we own out stuff or does our stuff own us?

I love the distress oxide sprays, they are amazing for making backgrounds for cards. I spray the inks on a glass mat and smush my card blanks into it, then dry the card and smush again, dry again, ones out amazing. I have the Gemini die cutting machines and that die that is intricate, the stuff will fall right out with very little poking. Glitter spray I use in a splat box. The crayons are great for using on metal ephemera. I mark and rub it in, makes letters stand out on metal. So many uses besides water coloring with them. I would gladly purchase your distress spray, if it is in my budget. Love all your videos.

Quote/mantra from modern Shakespearean poet, Rihanna: "always lessons, never failures." I do appreciate the insight on these! I am very much in the "use it to lose it" boat - I am an avid supporter of using supplies even if they're not my favorites, because if nothing else, they will teach you what you DON'T like about them, so that you don't accidentally purchase the same "regrettable" thing again. And that has value!! Use it to lose it - some things I'm trying to use up so I never see them *ever. again.* ... 😂 **(Looking at you, Sharpie Rollerball Pens.)**

Boy, did you make me laugh! Thanks for the laugh Lindsay! I got into paper crafting about 5 years ago when I retired and started watching KZread videos. I was just amazed at all the design ideas and different materials, and colors! I dove right in and immersed myself with more videos and started to buy supplies. OMG! I had to have everything and try everything! It was so much fun! I was having a great time. But....................now I am drowning in art supplies!!! Sometimes I think I'd be better off with paper and colored pencils or something. lol! It is ridiculous I have so many supplies. Have I had fun? Yes. But I find myself having a hard time corralling all these supplies so I can find stuff and do more art. Probably 85% of the supplies have barely been used. So what I've done is I don't open any new emails from craft supply companies so I'm not tempted buy all the new releases. That has really helped my impulse spending. I hope to wade through all the supplies I have and get them organized better so I can find them. And I hope to weed out all the supplies I probably will never use. I had my outrageous fun immersing myself in all this, but it is time to get a grip. lol! Happy crafting everyone!

I can so relate. I sometimes make purchases based on how i want to be not how i am. Lol. Example…an entire set of beautiful watercolors, as well as a set of watercolor brush pens because I love watercolor. The problem is I don’t watercolor. Same goes for craft organizing containers. I want to be organized, so i buy the organizers and “forget” I have to use them to be effective.🙄😂 Specifically, the Distress Oxide Crayons have not found a home in my studio. Thanks for your video.❣️

I so love Sat Chat. I had to laugh today. One of mine is the crayons too. Tim Holtz is the best. I don’t know him but his videos are what got me started on trying to try art. His saying “You do You” is what I keep in mind to keep myself encouraged to enjoy art. I love love the sprays but I could understand why you may not enjoy them like me. I can’t draw and I can use the sprays to create color backgrounds. I love the alcohol inks and pearls too. They are my happy place to play and make a mess 🙃. One of the first dies I ever bought was a Tim Holtz doily die. It almost made me give up on die cutting. It was horrible to get it cut right. I still have it but never tried it again. Tim would laugh about the glitter he says that is an outside activity. Love your chats you are terrific. Stay warm and safe. My son is in TN for work and we are from LA he is amazed at the snow coming in.

All of my "crappy" art supplies that I think I can make work because I don't want to admit that my impulse buying from Walmart has backfired once again will sit unused for SO long until I finally admit defeat and bring them to work to leave in the breakroom with a sign saying "FREE oil pastels" or "FREE colored pencils" but I also have to add "be careful, they SUCK!". LOLLL I'll come back in an hour and they'll be gone. The artists at work don't take them, but I found out two particular people have been swooping them up for their kids and having a blast with them. So maybe my impulse buying is actually a good thing, LOLL!

Hi Lindsey. I use the distress spays on card stock, and 98 lb paper to create collage papers. And spray the delicate stencils. Shake ,wipe off nozzle, then cap them or they will clog up. And in embossing folders with a sprits of water. Soooo pretty.

LOL Lindsey! What a hoot! Thanks for the laughs and most of all....the freedom to pass on my distress crayons! No matter how many colors I bought and tried results are the same...DUD! Yes I said it. Now they will have a new home at the local goodwill. No regrets. Someone will find them and be so excited to have them. They may even be treasured!☺

My favorite part: Fantasy Lindsey v. Reality Lindsey 🤣 Trust me, we ALL have a little of that in our lives. I even shared that part with my husband and he liked it. Stay safe and warm...it's hard for me to think you guys in the NE deal with this frequently...this Texas girl was totally amazed by our "Snowmageddon" last February. I don't know how you do it. 😯

Well we have the infrastructure for it. You folks got blindsided! Out houses are built for extreme cold and most of us (rural folk anyway) have backup wood stoves or generators to deal with long power outages.

Just remember that Prop 65 is on everything including water. Anything that can feed a cell feeds the mutated cell so everything requires the warning for them to sell in CA.

Thank you for these insights. It is always interesting reflecting on supplies that are hits or misses. For oxide sprays I love using them in art journals and for card backgrounds. Substrates are everything for these. I have had the best luck with these on Ranger watercolor paper and in the Dina Wakely mixed media art journals. I love the oxides because of their water activated properties and how they react when paired with the standard TH distress sprays. Love the Sat chat times. Can’t wait for next Saturday ❤️🎨❤️

My regret was a Project Life kit. One of the shopping channels had a deal. It's all beautiful, but I have not even started on it. Had it since early life of Project Life. I tell myself I can take out the cards and use them to make cards or in a journal. I never print my photos. Thanks so much for sharing!

Omg I am like you. Now I buy always 2 sets. One to play and one to hoard. Because I live in a kind of warehouse now with all beautiful stuff I dont want to use because I don't have a backup... so yes. This year I will use them... I am sure about it... (not)

Oooh so many crafty regrets... I also have that mega sketch book I use as a weight pretty much to flatten other papers😅

As always loved your topic. As for the stamp maker, there is a fellow youtuber Createinspain who has lots of videos on making the stamps like those. I think it would be fun, but am taking your old advice and storing a lot of my impulse buys at the store lol, and saving for things I really know I will love. That advice of yours has saved me a lot of money, and crafting product's sitting in the closet taking up space headaches.

On the intricate dies I find if I put another paper under the card stock I’m cutting it will help push it into the die and it mostly works. Love your personality!

Hi Lindsay, I haven't had a lot of regrets but there are a few things that I wasn't happy with and no longer use them. The Artist Loft colored pencils and watercolor pencils are horrible! So much that they hurt my hand when I was into the adult coloring books. Another item was an embossing contraption that I bought when I first started scrapbooking over 20 years ago, I only used it a few times. I threw it away probably 5 years ago thinking that no one else would want it either. I did keep one of the stencils though... "just in case". But I do have to say I love the distress sprays and all the stamp pads...I use them all the time. But unfortunately I do find that paint pens don't write very well over them. Thanks so much for todays sat chat...and yes we are also being hit by yet another snowstorm...ugh. Today will be a great day for crafting! Have a great weekend!

Yes. Artist Loft water color pencils are the worst.

I would use that big book to just tuck some small art work in between pages to store since it's acid free and it'll keep pieces protected while figure out what to do with them.

I'm in Florida and for us it's a freezing 37°. So I will pray for you and everyone with the storm coming. As for oxide sprays, I use cheap watercolor paper and spray them outside. I make a bunch of backgrounds at one time. Then when ideas spark, I have them ready. Be safe and stay warm.

@@thefrugalcrafter Also you can wear N95 mask if you want full protection. ;-). As an aside, cadmium ink DOES have toxic chemical that cannot be eliminated. So if you use oil paints, that’s far more toxic than the watered down distress sprays, imo. Jennifer from Virginia

I have a few. First my Daniel Smith watercolors... I spent way too much on so many of the primateks, "colors of inspiration" etc .. only to discover they were either scams or horribly fugitive. The only purchases I feel remotely ok with are the Jane Blundell ultimate mixing set (which Roman Szmal just did 100x better) and the split primary set (which DaVinci does 3x larger for the same price). I spent an ungodly amount of money on high end kolinsky sable brushes I thought I had to have... multiple brands/sizes/styles...only to find out I don't like any of them and much prefer my Princeton synthetics which are a fraction of the price. I bought myself what I thought was going to be a holy grail, splurge christmas gift for myself, fancy round ceramic palette M. Graham set... over $200 and I hate it and never touch it. They are beautiful watercolors but are so opaque compared to other brands I'm never happy with them. I learned that day to always buy two or three of any brand new to me and actually paint with it first regardless of what anyone else says about it. Finally I bought a big assorted set of supposedly waterproof pens on Jet Pens... and only three out of 20 were actually waterproof and I already owned two of those lol. Fair warning on that one it's a total scam.

Omg I thought I was listening to myself I started as a teen in the seventies refinishing old furniture that led to a decade of that on to ceramics towel painting stamping jewelry making with glass bead making I’m into watercolor painting and I laugh when I watch you it’s like watching me my son calls me Lucy because of all the chaos in my life love your channel
