Craftsman Model M110 Push Mower: Wouldn't Recommend

This Craftsman lawn mower is an overall acceptable lawn mower except for one thing: the bag design. The angle at which the bag sits on the lawn mower makes it so that everything which goes in the bag consistently falls out while you are mowing and even more so once you shut the mower off to change the bag. The problem is almost so bad, that it is almost imperative that you need to leaf blow your lawn after using this mower even with the bag.

Thanks so much for sharing 😊 I have the same mower with the same problems whenever bagging. Does anyone have any other types of mower recommendations 🤔

I don’t have this exact craftsman (M105) but you don’t have to use the bagger all of the time and you can also raise up the deck with the adjusters on the two right tires. I’m pretty sure you can either do the side shoot or the mulching mode

I have the troy bilt version of this mower. They're both made by MTD. However, one thing I've noticed before buying mine is anything lower than a Cub Cadet or Troy Bilt in the MTD lineup is made poorly. Also, the spewing of grass always happened with mine if the mower was close to stalling out. What solved the problem for me was changing to a better plug. Get a Denso IK16 Iridium Power spark plug. It has the correct heat range to replace the Champion RC12YC. Then carefully gap it to the briggs spec of 0.020" for the 140cc engine. It sounds crazy that a plug can make all the difference but it does. Fine wire plugs are easier to fire than a regular plug. And, there's a few other tweaks Denso made to their Iridium Power design. Anyway, my mower hasn't bogged down to die since. I couldn't believe it and this was with a dull blade.

anytime something is being mass produced, and especially now that production comes mostly from China and Mexico, every once in a while you're going to get one that's defective. that's just a fact of life. I've found that Craftsman customer service is very responsive to customer complaints. Have you called or emailed Craftsman customer service? You made a great video. You should send it to them.

another thing about these mowers is they use a real finnicky plastic carburetor that gums up super easily and can be a pain to get properly cleaned out. i recently "fixed" my neighbor's 1-year-old mower but i had to clean up the carburetor 3 times before it was running right again. super important to keep gas from sitting in these if you don't want to spend time on disassembling and reassembling a plastic carb that feels like it's going to break apart each time. i had a troy-bilt mower with the exact same bagging issue as this craftsman. not only does it leave behind messes and not bag properly, but the fact that the grass spills back out of the bag into the mower deck while it's running causes the blades to re-chop the grass into really small chunks that then shoots it up into the walls of the mower deck where it gets stuck. it makes cleaning the deck of the mower so much more of a pain in the ass. i say i "had" a troy-bilt mower because i stopped cleaning the deck out thoroughly because of how much of a pain it became, and the deck eventually just cracked apart in the front from the corrosion the grass buildup caused. if i were dictator this sort of crap wouldn't be allowed to stay on the market, since 'voting with our wallets' clearly isn't doing the trick

I do not recall this mower ever having one. The opening under the bag door was not obstructed.

These things are junk, I bought a brand new one and the 2nd time I used it, I ran over a small piece of wood with it and it locked the engine up. The warranty was only 30 days at Lowes and it was a little over 2 weeks over the warranty and I was out $300 and left with a piece of junk mower that wouldn't run

the solution is simple. just comply with Democrat policy. stop buying gas powered mowers and stop buying American made crap. Buy an electric mower made in China. that's what my whole neighborhood did and we're all much happier.

You’re not supposed to run over wood with a lawnmower

Lmao I once seized my engine and then I tried again 2 hours later and its still fine. I have had mine for 5 years and sometimes I use it at my dads terrain whenever the lawn tractor is down. The only major thing I've done is deep clean my carb just last summer

Yeah don’t buy new mowers they are all plastic junk. Craftsman was owned by Husqvarna for several years and made reliable solid machines until around 2015 MTD bought them out and their notoriously junky of a brand. I’d recommend purchasing used older Craftsmans from the Husqvarna era, older Toros lawn boys ect…they are not built to last anymore. I have a craftsman from 2007 that starts far easier than the junky 2016 plastic craftsman I had for a little while

Even old MTD was good, but I agree about how they are today. I don't think I would gat a new lawnmower from any manufacturer today.
