    Ive got a slightly different model of mower. Had to take out the battery and not the gas tank. Other than that, you walked me right through the repair. Thanks for the help.

    Brotherman this video just saved me a hassle and a half. I just changed the oil, spark plug, new blades, and fresh tires on my LT2000 and hopped on so excited to test my new mulching blades (switched from bagged for the first time). Started er up and went to actuate the blades and the damn cable popped out and told me "you seriously thought this was gonna be a smooth day didnt ya??" This doesnt look like such a bad job and gives me a great opportunity to pressure wash the deck

    I rather be a dirty, rotten, no good liar than a dirty, rotten, no good deck LOL. Great tip on the blade alignment for deck damage. Every tractor that gets new blades gets high lift gators. TBH, considering its age...its in great shape...your friend did a good job.

    Where did I go wrong? After changing the blade engagement cable now the lever is very hard to raise up into the detent position. Could the new spring be excessively tight or is it possible to have pinched the cable somewhere? Ready to toss some wrenches over this mess up.

    I would check the tensioner on the deck and make sure it isn’t seized/ rusty and can move freely back-and-forth. That’s the number one cause for these cables to break.

    Hey! Awesome video. I have the same mower and just replaced the plate on the deck that wears and the cable but now it takes almost all of my force to get the blade engagement handle up and when I do the deck shakes violently which it didn’t do before. Any tips?

  • @hester781

    @hester781

    4 күн бұрын

    Hmm it sounds like something might be binding on the deck side. I would double check your pulleys and belt routing and if those are fine, try taking the belt off of the engine pulley and engaging the blades (engine off) if it’s still feels hard to engage I would suspect the tensioner is binding

    What if when you engage the blades its very difficult. Should you stretch the new spring or what do you suggest

  • @hester781

    @hester781

    Жыл бұрын

    The only 2 things that would make engaging the blade difficult would be rust in the cable or the pivot for the belt tensioner arm where the spring attaches is rusty and needs to be lubricated. Let me know if this helps 👍🏻

    I have the same mower Why are the blades only partially sharp on each end? And not 4-5 more inches on each end? Is there a reason for that? Wouldn’t it cut more/better if it had a longer edge?

  • @hester781

    @hester781

    4 ай бұрын

    Some blades do have a longer sharp area, however 90% of the cutting is done by the first 2 inches of the blade. Which is why mulching blades have more cutting edge along the whole blade to cut the already cut grass into tiny bits, vs a standard high lift blade which lifts the grass up, cuts, and bags/discharges in one swift motion.

    Very good video, and now I am looking for some free advice. When my LT 2000 has been cutting for a while it cuts out ,but if I disengage the drive for the blades it starts again no problem but if i engage the blades again it cuts out again ,any suggestions as to what might be the problem ????

    If it’s doing it that religiously It almost sounds like a seat safety issue. So a few questions, - does everything sound normal when the blades are engaged, like no loud bearing noises, etc. - do you have to have the blade leaver all the way engaged for the engine to die or does it start shutting off halfway into engaging the lever? - Does your seat Safety have two wires or four?

    @hester781 thanks for your reply to my question. The mower ticks over beautifully when first started but after about half an hour cutting it cuts out completely, no shuddering just stops like as if you flicked a switch ,if I disengage the blade drive it starts first tip and ticks over beautifully again but ingauge the blade drive again it shudders and cuts out , i taught it was getting a little hot lately ,is there a temperature sensor switch on these mowers ??? And there are 2 wires on the safety switch under the seat which are connected

    Another answer to one of your earlier questions, After half an hour cutting it cuts out. If I disengage the blade drive, it starts normally again but when I start to engage the lever it starts to shudder badely and cuts out again.

    @@johnoflanagan9139 it sounds like one of the safeties are activating and killing the motor. I would try taping down the blade engage safety button so that the machine thinks that the blades are always disengaged. If you do that in the mower doesn’t die anymore then you know you have either a wiring issue or a safety switch issue.
