One of the most professional "rustic" builds I've seen. A lot of hidden work in there. I'm still at the reclaimed pine phase of my woodworking career so was nodding the whole way through :P Nice!!

Nice build, nice video - I'm particularly impressed with how well you managed to match colours that weren't matching before. I've dabbled with woodworking for the last 20 years, always using pine, as it's all you can buy around here. But the last couple years I've switched to pallet wood and gradually gotten better at spotting the really nice, hardwood pallets, now I can't imagine going back. Reason #8: the pitch gums up all the machines so much worse than other woods. All that said, what you made looks really good.

I love it. I’ve always been a fan of using salvaged pine. I recently did this and made a jelly cabinet. I loved how it came out. It was really old pine from a knock down wardrobe. So the pine was super hard and stable. I had planned on painting it. But since I was able to make the whole thing with just pieces from that wardrobe… they all matched. And it looked so good. My best salvaged piece so far. So I just put clear wax on it to protect. Looks soooo good. There was a lot of work that went into this piece. I am still struggling getting my domino joints right when they are mid panel. But getting better all the time. Salvaged and rustic definitely don’t mean quicker. I spent more time on my salvaged jelly cabinet than the larger one I made from store bought material.

Nice one Keith, I love your approach to things. You're not precious about methods or worried about whether it's been done the way a 16th century master hand tool carpenter would make it, it's "there's the wood, there's the tools, I know what I want so just make it".

This is great Keith. I find myself really enjoying working with redwood pine, and this is great to see pine getting some attention as it seems to be a dirty word these days 😅 Also when finishing it with a stain, never finish with sanding! Super fine smoothing plane will give you a finish surface a million miles better than a sanded finish on pine for very little effort :)

Great build, nice finish with wax, always makes instant rustic feel on pine as well as feeding very dry stock. I use 95% reclaimed materials for my CNC carving. Agree on pine, it's difficult to work with to get good finish. Good thing with reclaimed wood is it's usually free of warp & dimensionally stable., unlikely to shrink, twist or seasonal swelling. I keep lookout various sources for cheap or preventing furniture going to dump, and get some good pieces. 200ft Red Grandis cladding 99p eBay!!
