What a wonderful gift to give your mother. I am sure she thinks of you and all your hard work every time she uses it. I have to be honest, at first, I was overwhelmed, and I didn't think it was possible, but then I saw the finished product and WOW. You deserve a standing ovation...and a vacation!!!

I was impressed by that attitude as well. She was never insulting or impatient. Every step of the way, she was upbeat and encouraging. I think I loved that aspect more than the actual make-over. What a lovely woman!

I started re-organizing my craft space a little over a week ago. Every time my husband comes in my room he says it looks worse than the time before. I can't convince him that it has to look worse before it looks better. Progress is slow, but I am happy with what I have accomplished so far and will keep working at it til I get it done. Thanks for showing your mom's room. It is an encouragement for me to keep working.

Wow! My name is Lisa. I am your moms twin. I have everything she has including the piles. I understand her feelings. You are a blessing. My daughter tried to help me once but that lead to get out I quit argument lol. She has never walked by my craft room since. I really need to purge. Thanks for this video I will use it to remind me how it’s ok to take my time.

Tackle one pile at a time, take your time.... it helps to prevent that feeling of being overwhelmed and wanting to just give up! Do it in small batches, limit your self to even just 5 minutes at a time -- set a timer and when it goes off, walk away and take a little break. That's how I managed in a house with a hoarder -- so I know you can do it!

I'm sorry to hear that, it's a difficult thing helping sort someone else's stuff. I feel irritable sorting my own things out if they've got a bit out of control. Not learned total self control as yet, but I think not to keep buying supplies is a major help.

What an awesome job!!! My amazing cousin gave up like 4 weekends in a row to help me sort, purge, and organize. What a blessing it is to have someone help you with such a daunting task. You're absolutely right...once you get going, you get more motivated and you uncover so many goodies you forgot you had! 🥰 Once you're all done, your creative ideas start flowing, because it's such a clean and fun workspace again! Your Mom's space came out beautiful!!! Great job!! ~Evie 😊

What a great daughter you are! Sometimes tackling things by yourself is the biggest barrier to organization. That’s why so many are finding a consultant to help. Good for you! I’m sure many of your mother’s scrapbooking friends will look to you for assistance. I just did a major reorganization in my craft space and it was so liberating. And purging is good medicine, too. Now to tackle my quilt stuff!

This was wonderful to see get organized from start to finish. My room has been daunting me since some years now. I've tried to organize it three or four times and I do manage parts of it, and then it all goes downhill. I've moved recently and I really need to organize again, as it is so demotivating having to look all over for a stamp or a flower and knowing it is there and not finding it in time. Love the way you both tackled it and glad to see that your mom is keeping it in ship shape too! Wow! THAT is an achievement in itself. (y)

I love that you tailored your process for what works best for your Mom and it is a generous and thoughtful gift for you both to enjoy working together! This method would not work for me because I am one of those who purges once a year and takes my room down to the bare studs! My storage, like your Mom's, is the white cubes and over the 18 years I have been doing it, my scrapbooking has changed and I like to change up the room to make the best of my scrapbook changes. For example, I don't use eyelets or brads anymore because the adhesive buttons are perfect and much easier to deal with when eyelets and brads add extra weight to the page and mess up the album page! My overall embellishments have been donated! My electronic cutters have eliminated my need for alphabets! So BIG kudos for your process and I am a new subscriber!

I have just finished watching your video and I was shocked to hear that there is someone who is going through the same thing that I have been dealing with for a year and 2 months. Depression and anxiety are wanting to end my life because I don't have any thing to live for. I hope that you don't mind if I have time to tell you how this all happened. I have lost my beautiful home of 48years and everything I have is in boxes and down my in laws attic and cellar All my beautiful things that I collected through my years living with my CHILDREN and my husband, but I couldn't even stand looking at. So he moved in with his mother and father who was failing at the time and died months after he moved in with her. But I thank GOD that he was with her and I was with my son who was the owner of the house and he worked hard and tried to keep the house up . We didn't have heat and little food but he was working in a place where he ate ,but didn't think of me because I worked for a DOCTOR. I WAS A Pediatric nurse and I loved my job and worked for the most beautiful, wonderful Doctor you wish all children had her. She was the best and knew what she was doing . I don't want anyone to see this because I am ashamed and I really don't know if I want people to see this about me.

My heart hurts for you and I am so sorry for your struggles. Just know you are in my prayers. Depression and anxiety are very real and very devastating, it runs strongly in my family, especially the women. I am also a nurse, telemetry. Reach out to a friend or someone you trust -- going through this in silence only hurts you more. Thank you for the courage it took to post here and just know you are not judged, only loved and supported and encouraged 💜💜💜💜

This was my New Years Resolution to clean up my Craft Room! It was not as bad as I thought it would be but I am very happy with it now! I had to threw away a lot of things that I really was not going to use! And I have a box of things to sell on my yard sell! I made several promises to myself, 1) STOP Buying more craft supplies! Period! 2) USE what I have! 3) Anything I make is for sell or a gift! 4) Keep my desk cleaned & tidy! 5) No storage under my desk! Period! I really love my craft room now! Excellent video great job!

That was my plan also. I moved into my apartment 4 years ago. I am going to moving again in the next few months. I still have bins that I've never organized, scrapbook supplies I need to purge, and a storage unit with boxes of possessions of my late husband...he died 14 years ago. That way, when I finish my next move, I will be able to enjoy my new downsized craft room.

You are such a good daughter. I have the craft room from hell also. I need to purge also. I moved my craft room to a bigger room. It was in a room of 8 x 8. So needles to say it has flowed over to storing stamps in my laundry room. It is very hard. My anxiety levels are at their peak.im 65 and doing my best. I also moved to my dad's 4 years ago when my mom died. I lived with him for 3 years and took crafts to his house as needed. Needless to say I took way too much over there. So now I have moved back home and everything I took is in my dining room and now I look like a hoarder. Hehe. Thanks for reminding me that I small section at a time. Thank you for helping your mom.

What helped me organize my craft room a while back is to sort my embellishments and papers by color. So when I needed a blue flower for example, I knew it would be in my blue drawer! Paper was sorted by color as well. Patterned paper was sorted into seasons of the year. This system has worked so well for me and I never lose anything! I can usually find anything I need very quickly and I know what I have. My stamps are organized by theme and all labeled. It's a ton of work but if I put everything back in it's place it's entirely possible to keep my room pretty and functional.

Thank you so much for posting such an honest video. You showed the room and the fact that your lovely momma works in her living room because of the chaos and I even said out loud 'girl same!' I am midway through tackling my chaos and this was just the motivation I needed to keep going. Definitely feeling less guilty for not getting it all done in one day so thank you so much! Hope you're all keeping safe in this crazy time xx

This is MY situation. I have a craft room but can't use it because it has become so unorganized. Typically, if I am crafting, I'm doing it at the dining room table. I've now taken it over. This journey that you shared was the motivation for me to start! You took a realistic approach that is manageable. Taking each 'sort' and go through it is so practical. I LOVE your mom's paper story from Joann's and have been trying to find them but have not been successful. I might use the IRIS 12 x 12 paper storage containers instead. To be determined! Thank you for sharing!!!

You got this! Those paper containers were made by Iris but unfortunately are discontinued 😔 the 12x12s are a good option. Good luck!!

I really enjoyed this video! My craft room is VERY similar to Lisa's- stuff everywhere (the organized chaos) but I've finally figured out that purging is going to be crucial for me. It's going to be the most difficult part of the process because as you said, "crafters are collectors" and I've definitely collected way more than I need. I say, "need" because if I stand back and just look at the amount of items I have, It's quite obvious that I will never use up everything I have in three lifetimes! I've had to be brutally honest with myself and realize that nobody else in my family will have the desire to begin where I left off, as far as my scrapbook creating goes! I started creating and making scrapbooks after my daughter was born- wanting her to have beautiful memories of her life- she will definitely have that but I need to know when to say, "enough stuff, IS enough stuff!" Thank you for the inspirational organization tips!

Oh my goodness!!!!! You both did a great job and you accomplished a ton on your 4 big work days. The final tour explains the reality of organizing that takes focus and time. Splitting the tasks made it seem less overwhelming even for the viewer. You work so efficiently and quickly like my sister Linda. I call her a tornado 😂
