For this year’s third Backyardigans Tribute Video, I’ve created a setup set to a song from season 3’s “Fly Girl”. The song was called “A Grump Like You”, an extremely catchy 50s rock tune performed by Tasha and Pablo, and the premise I came up with focuses on a potential love story between two grumpy people (played by myself and Ebonie) who spend their downtime being grumpy until they end up meeting each other and their grumpy behaviors begin to evaporate as a result. This is the first BTV of this year to have a song performed by one of my two favorite Backyardigans, Tasha the hippo (and the song also turned out to be one of the last sung by Kristin Klabunde), and was also filmed during a particularly busy day at CPL, meaning we did so much stuff today, some camera shots didn’t look as stellar. And also, before we were about to make the video, we heard the recent tragic news about the creator of The Backyardigans, and that made me decide to add in a brief eulogy at the beginning of the video. In light of recent events, I’m now fully eager to make more Backyardigans Tribute Videos throughout the year when we can, because they really are special tributes to a wonderful show made by a wonderful creator.
