Hi everyone! In this vlog we're hitting a few cafes and even Seoul Forest to get started on a new story. Something about autumn, especially in Korea, makes me want to curl up with a good book or good notebook :) This isn't technically part of NaNoWriMo, but I want to encourage you all to check out the writing community this month for further inspiration! Lots of words are being put out into the world at this time!

    Cari, I have been writing unfinished stories for sixty years. As you said in the video, the writing itself is its own reward. Only last year (when I was 78 years old!) did I finally finish one of these stories and let anyone read it. No, not to be published but to finally prove to myself it was a complete thought. Keep up the work and enjoy the process.

    @@diamondcrowngacha1184 The fact you are 15 actually just confirms that you don't know where you'll be in the future. Like any of us, actually. Any ages. Don't condemn your art before it has even started. Do what you are interested in, and by doing that, you gain more experience and then you can make it something that is fufilling to you. Writing is a passion, work and a hobby, so it can get you "places" you gotta allow yourself to try tho ^^

    It happened to me a lot with writing, that I did not dare to do it because I did not feel a good writer or I felt that I would never get anywhere, but when you said about writing to enjoy the process and not to have a result, my mind clicked, I opened my eyes and I remembered that it is totally true, not because I am not going to publish it means that I cannot create a world or imagine dialogues and characters. So thank you very much for sharing it with us.

    When I write it's the characters who come to me first. They show themselves, tell me their story, or don't, and just kinda hang out with me, so we get used to each other. That's why I have more characters than stories. Idk, maybe something bad happened to them, maybe they just came here to rest... but I like to think of my imagination as a common room in "Prancing Pony"..))

    To be honest your videos make me feel safe. We can't leave the house on weekends or sits at cafés at all and one of my favorite things to do outside was exactly that: sitting on a café, writing, eating, talking with my friends, etc. I miss it so much and I've been feeling pretty nostalgic. I'm losing hope every single day but at the same time I want to believe things will be the same eventually. So thank you for giving me this little bit of hope. Have a nice day (I know it's morning in Korea hehe)

    I used to write little stories when i was younger in my free time. Never completed any of them but it was just for fun and because I loved books and stories and being in those worlds so much. This video has really reminded me of that and how fun it was! I love how you said that you write even if you have no intention of churning out a whole novel. Maybe I'll give it a try again :)

    I totally understand what you mean by feeling the pressure to finish the story. I do not want to write books for others to read but instead use it as an outlet for my daydreams (which sometimes becomes a bit problematic for my real life) so mostly I come up with random scenarios that I can't even put together in proper order. I am inspired by what you said that I should just write a book that I don't need to feel the pressure of finishing it.

    It's 2.09 a.m in here and you know Cari I always watch your videos no matter what time it is but today I really am tired. Yesterday I LITERALLY cleaned the *whole* house because we were gonna have company and today we had, and I also had school, and we had German, history and literature exams, and tomorrow I'll have geoghraphy, physics and english exams. And probably I have to do a lot of other things that I can't remember right now because I'm so sleepy. So I'm really sorry but I guess I have to watch this tomorrow. Still leaving a comment to support though. I'm sure it's a good video. Lots of love.💖

    This was honestly so inspiring! I have 10 stories in my head inspired by my literal dreams I’ve had and loved them so much that before bed I would continue the story in my head. I would never write them down because I knew I wouldn’t have the right words for somethings, that the grammar wouldn’t be the best and I never have a ending for the stories. So what you said have inspired me to just pick up a pen and paper and write down these stories just to be able to have them! (Also yes I have a whole Pinterest board of visuals based off my different stories haha)

    This wholesome vid realized and changed my perspective about writing. I always used to have a mindset to work atrociously to gain readers for my book. And it goes downhill in the end, writing is a passion that you'd need to embrace for looking for a better outcome nor improvement. If you have an awry goal for writing, then so on with your character's objective in the book you put attention into. Writing takes time. If you'd like to rush it, you'll most likely be stuck at the end of the day.

    The way I "see" stories is I first see cinematic scenes. Very clear scenes. Like a rando example: someone dying in a ruined spaceship. Then I get more scenes, like flashes. And I end up having to brainstorm a whole story constructed around those scenes, to link them all together xD. I'm not an organized brainstormer at all. I never follow my outlines because I get more of those flashes along the way. It's a mess, but a mess with a purpose haha. I did finish an entire book (now on wattpad) and I'm writing two others books this year and almost halfway there on both (fantasy and sci-fi). I really enjoy the process.

Also "it came out of the woods instead" - how dare you leave that off on such a sentence! I love your writing style! It has such a whimsical, fairytalesque vibe that I love! Your story is amazing!! I clicked on the link and read it, and I love it! If it was a book, I would buy it/read it! 💓 I think it’s a talent to be able to write so wonderfully. I may have to give it a try!

    I am so thankful for this video, because when I was in High school, I used to write a lot. Like really, a lot lot lot. And then, one of my friend got published (and I was so happy for her, it was amazing), but then my mother started to put me a lot of pressure to get my stuff read and published as well. Even more since she knew a bunch of well known published author... And it cut off all my desire to write. Since then, I haven't really been able to sit down and write everything that could come up in my mind. I think I was being too judgemental of my writing... But I stopped this video in the middle because I suddenly had an idea, and wrote it, and it felt A-MA-ZING ! So thank you so much Cari for the inspiration ! :) (Sorry for grammars mistakes, English is not my first language)

    How I miss writing in cafes. In France cafes and restaurants have been closed for months because of the pandemic. I'm stuck on my couch most days. My creative impulse really slowed down. I wrote half a book during the first lockdown. But a year later I'm still here and I struggle to write 500 words a day. Thanks god I live in the countryside. I can go talk to the cows and ducks when I feel lonely haha.

    Thank you so much for the message!! I've always been that type of person to never finish anything, and it's always frustrated me. My biggest dream is to be a published author, so I guess that's probably why I put so much pressure on myself. To be honest, it also doesn't help that people around me (including people in my family) tell me that I need to give them a best seller if I want to continue living my dream. I want to prove them wrong and do that, while also trying to have fun with it, but it's proven hard. Thanks for the motivation too, and I'm going to go brainstorm now. :)

    Not to apply pressure to you, but I (and I'm guessing a lot of other people who love you and your videos) would ABSOLUTELY pre-order any book you wrote! You have a huge audience of people who care about you, and we'd show tf up for you if you ever want to pursue that dream. You are gifted, gal. Share your gifts with the world, if you feel authentically called to :) Thanks as always for all of the content you put out! 🙌🏻

    I.. needed that, I've been trying to write I have this epic idea, but I'm not.. sure I can finish it even though I know the ending.. The thought of letting others read freaks me out. And I don't have the time to write the whole thing. I'll still write I guess, just so I can see the words for myself. I love season changes in fantasy, that sounds very nice! Writing little details is so much fun honestly, I love building my world, building their daily lives, I have no real story everything's been told.. I just write about their pets and their food now lol ;__;
