@@CoastalLandWildlifeServices I saw one of your videos where you said you have your own lures and baits. Where can I purchase at?

@@terrancebaby4151 I wish I had some available for sale, but unfortunately right now I don’t have the availability to produce enough to supply myself and others. Maybe one day.

Good lookin Sets I'm still waiting for our season to open this year
Great video!! Very informative. New subscriber for sure!
👍🏽
I'm also planning on trying CJ's Punch Bait (shad or monster) (Stink bait) - It's cheap, available, and should work as a bait and lure!

@@ErikScott What? V@X go to your head or what?
Why do you not keep it in the Coyote Circle instead of using the outside edge of the bed area would you want all of the sent to your advantage? I have seen others use the same area over and over again are you trying to avoid erosion control of the field is that why you move a trap set? Can you do this in a wheelchair? Sincerely! R.S.V.
@CoastalLandWildlifeServices

So if I go to the edge of the circle I’m still taking full advantage of the scent in the immediate area. Sometimes I do keep it in the same spot, just depends on the damage to the ground from the animal fighting. I wouldn’t say it’s erosion control exactly, more so how much I have to level out and spiff up after a catch. And, if you are able to reach the ground comfortably, I don’t see why a wheelchair would hold you back from trapping.
What state do you trap? Just curious. Awesome video.

Do you use offset jaws on your MBs? What are your thoughts performance wise between OS and closed jaws? I seem to miss a lot of fox with OS jaws
@CoastalLandWildlifeServices
2 жыл бұрын
@Stephen Hiott some of the MB’s do have offset jaws but they’re not mine. I use a friend’s traps when I have a lot to set and he uses OS jaws. I do NOT like them and I miss some animals too. All my traps are close jaw.

2 - 2.5lbs. Maybe a little light but I’m in it to catch everything.
How would a man get some of your lure and bait to try in Louisiana?
How about a indept video on pan covers what you use and why?

About 2.5lbs give or take. No more than 3 if you still want to catch fox and bobcat

@@CoastalLandWildlifeServices I'm running 3-3.5. We do have bobcat here. I caught a squirrel in a Duke 650 this morning, both front feet. Let him go, he was fine.
Does spitting near the set bother the animals at all?
@CoastalLandWildlifeServices
2 жыл бұрын
@Timothy MacDonald I think it potentially can, but I dip and spit near my sets all the time. Obviously I try not to and certainly never spit directly on the set. But I still catch coyotes even when I do. I chew straight blend too, so it’s not like I’m spitting wintergreen or mint flavored Copenhagen spit.

Did you spit by your set ?
@CoastalLandWildlifeServices

Yes. I chew Copenhagen Straight and spit all over the place. Doesn’t seem to bother them as far as I can tell. I catch coyotes and other critters all the time on sets where I spit.
Anyone know how to hide the red flash on a trail cam and it still detect movement? Can it be done?
@CoastalLandWildlifeServices

Not sure. That’s one reason I don’t mess with cameras on my sets. Too worried it’ll hurt more than help
There is no video showing a coyote stepping on a loose jaw and digging it up but I keep hearing it. I don’t doubt it but like to see evidence of it for once.
Can you shut him up?How does it stay anchored to the ground?
@CoastalLandWildlifeServices

There’s a small piece of metal at the end of the chain that drives into the ground and acts as an anchor
What do you do with your fur.
@CoastalLandWildlifeServices
2 жыл бұрын
@Airguns extreme - this time of year I can’t legally do anything with the fur because we require special permits to trap out of season. Our normal fur season is Dec1-Mar1
What I wouldn't give to not have to mess with pan covers like you.....

Previous fur trapper here. I don't get trapping out of season. I hate to see them wasted. I assume predator control.
@CoastalLandWildlifeServices
Жыл бұрын
Correct. Our fur here in my area is practically worthless on the market. I am paid to trap for predator control out of season for several reasons. I do save fur when the regular season is in. It took me a long time to get used to not skinning everything I catch, but it’s part of the job I guess.

@@CoastalLandWildlifeServices thank you for the info. You do a good video
How do you charge for a job like that
@CoastalLandWildlifeServices
Жыл бұрын
A flat daily rate based on the acreage and trap total
During the off-season, you are hired by the farmers to trap on their land why you are not allowed to keep the fure. I can see why you can't normally but if you are hired to do a job for the farmer the farmer gives you the fure or what do you do. Sincerely! R.S.V.
@CoastalLandWildlifeServices

It’s not up to the landowner as to whether I keep the fur or not. That’s a state law set by the department of natural resources. They allow out of season trapping under special permits but we aren’t allowed to keep the fur for that period. It’s not worth anything during that time anyway. It’s more for predator control than for fur
Wait, what? Humans suck
We should be able to use any type of trap with no regulations, that and we should be allowed to trap and leave without being required to check traps by a certain time. This combined with hunting is the only way to start to try and put a dent in the population. Have gota treat the problem the same way you would hogs.

I disagree with the idea of not checking traps regularly. That’s where the “cruelty” comes in to play.
