COVID and The Academy: What Have We Learned? Maja Graso, Ph.D.

Heterodox Academy Research Symposium
Held on February 23, 2024, at the Stanford Faculty Club
Maja Graso, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Groningen.
Maja is interested in questions like how people perceive such harms they cannot see, whose fears should guide social norms, and which well-meaning efforts to resolve them might lead to short-term safety but compromise long-term peace?
Together with her colleagues, Maja has been exploring the implications of these questions in various contexts, including allegations of non-physical mistreatment at work and the social divisions surrounding Covid-19. Her work has been published in Psychological Science, Organizational Behaviour and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, and Journal of Medical Ethics.

It is not that people don't know the facts. It is that those in power have their own reasons for wanting people to act a certain way. Then they adjust appearances to fit what they want people to do. Add to this the fact that the disease itself was created in a lab and ended up in the public, and those responsible didn't want to admit it, makes us wonder what else is being hidden or lied about.

Absolutely bang on. The common denominator between democracies and Autocracies is greedy CAPITALISM. The top dogs collaborated in GAIN OF FUNCTION RESEARCH and intentions are extremely difficult to discern. Since every CRISIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene hit the nail on the head by pointing out that Pfizer and Moderna minted BILLIONS. Or, maybe it was a sinister SCIENTIFIC WAY to control the POPULATION.

Just asking questions is dangerous. Some highly educated people--and groups of people--had what seems to me some pretty relevant and penetrating questions. They were often demonized.

Excellent. My one problem and it's a problem I keep coming up against is your reference to the 'liberal'. What do you mean? I think I know but these labels are or have become blurred. In the Uk, at least, there is talk of 'the liberals' as being those like The Barrington Declaration who just want to 'let rip' the virus. So, your concern about politicisation is correct but then you fall into the trap of those who wish to make it so. Sadly, I concur with your pessimism. Point 5 is really interesting. Thanks for that.
