Covering every JDM STI Seat that can work in your GC Impreza

In this video I go over the different types of JDM Subaru Impreza WRX and STI seats from 93 to 2007 that can fit in the 93-01 Impreza GC chassis. Our USDM seats (including the alcantara 04-07 sti seats) are not that comfortable. Over in Japan they dozens of different seats that all provide more support and really change the feel of our cars for the better. I go over the pros and cons of each seat as far as style, fitment and height adjust ability. I cover what seat rails can be swapped to get your drivers seat lower and in some cases provide height adjust ability on each side. In the end I do a video walk around showing the JDM v7 sti seats I have in my 98 2.5rs coupe.

I'm only a few minutes in and I really appreciate your video. I have a GC and would love to upgrade the seats but I have no idea what works and what doesn't. Thanks for putting this togeter.

I just spent 5 hours taking apart my v7 seats and an 02 driver seat only to find out it doesn’t work. The JDM seat back’s have opposite mounting brackets. Do I need a complete 2.5RS seat base or just the rails/sliders? Thanks for confirming the myths of the v7 seats!

Just the rails/sliders. If you look at the front feet on the non adjustable JDM seat and compare them to the feet on the usdm GC driver's seat you'll see the JDM feet are much taller.
Is there a usdm seat base that I can canibalize to bring height adjustments to jdm sti ver7 passenger seat?
How do you change the rail cause i try to make it but the rail are not the same !!

The USDM driver's side rails off a 98-01 2.5rs should swap over to the JDM v7 passenger side seat. The USDM passenger rails won't work on the JDM driver's side so leave that one alone. Your passenger will just get height adjustability and you won't.
i know this is an old video but i’m maybe going to pick up some seats in a week or so but i didn’t see it in the video. They look like the seats you show at 8:14 but have gray STI stitching instead of the pink. They’re pretty beat up so could be due to wear but i don’t want to get a fake jdm seat even if it’s a good deal

If they say "sti" I bet the pink stitching has worn mostly off. Some people have used fabric pens to try and touch it up on rs25. Idk if I'd risk trying that though.

@@802Projectsthanks for the quick reply! yeah i took a look at the thread in rs25 and didn’t know if it was worth a try. I was gonna get them repaired at an upholstery shop and see if they could touch it up but i’ll see.
