My (now) fiance and I moved in together right around when they started the pod. So helpful! I would highly recommend reading the 5 love languages book as a couple also. Shawn and Andrew talk a lot about love languages, but the book is so good! We did the audio book on a road trip and it was such a fun way to start some powerful conversations. It's a tough transition. Be prepared to feel all the feelings and learn so much about each other and yourselves. But if you are consuming this kind of content, then you're probably very well prepared to put in the work to build a beautiful partnership. I wish you both the absolute best!!!

Bring Mike onto the show!! As someone who’s heading off to college soon, it is especially enlightening and refreshing to have role models who are rooted in faith and integrity. I love seeing how you two have honored one another before the relationship even began. I hope to find someone someday who will honor me like Mike has honored his future wife and like you two have honored each other! ❤️

I love this I was pregnant many moons ago. Lol and my ex husband took on a new role while I was pregnant and that was cheating with my best friend. My heart was broke ..I had a baby..a home..in nursing school and couldnt keep it all had to make drastic changes.. I am so glad you all are making it work and love each other. Remember thru life there is many..many major life events but just being able to love each other thru it means so much..I finally had another happy ending after meeting someone who loved this child and me thru everything. ..love you guys GOD BLESS

Shawn completely nailed it on the head. You are absolutely correct. People think sex means they love me. No sex can easily be done with anyone for a moment of pleasure and you can completely not give a crap about that persons feelings or who they are. It should be used to bring a connection together after you have gotten to truly know someone.

I totally agree with you! Intimacy doesn’t have mean sex! I only wish my wife would show her affection! Her intimate nature back like in our early years of marriage! It feels so good for me to show her! Give her a romantic kiss in our kitchen! Stopping her in a room to give her hug with a kiss! I enjoy drying her when she comes out of the shower!

I love listening to this show and recently got my husband (we were just married 2 months ago!) into it as well so now we listen together! We usually talk about how the topics relate to us and often comment on how we would love to hear more biblical references and reasons behind things. We both became Christians in college and it seems that you both are Christians as well, so we’d love to hear more about your stories and how Christ influences you both daily! Also, we just got tickets to see you all in Indianapolis and are so excited about it!!

As I was listening to Shawn talk about pregnancy and intimacy I completely thought back to how I felt with my two pregnancies. I felt so lonely and not myself and it is hard to think you can have those feelings when you are growing a human inside you. I have never talked to my husband about how I felt during pregnancy and postpartum because I thought it was me with the problem. Sharing your story and being honest about how pregnant makes you feel makes me feel like I am the same as women all over the world and like I can tell him about it now.

Just a thought on the “when to have babies question.” I think there is huge benefit to giving yourselves time to grow and understand each other. But I also think that people shouldn’t be anxious if they get pregnant right away because it’s also a beautiful thing to grow your relationship through that process. My parents had us young and it was challenging for them but they always told me that it was super cool to get to learn how to do life together as parents. Hope this makes sense! Love your podcasts!

Love to listen and watch these conversations with you all. Thank you so much for sharing! It’s interesting, Shawn, that you feel disconnected while pregnant- I felt more intimate feelings during both of my pregnancies and my husband didn’t feel comfortable being physical during the last 4-5 months of my second pregnancy. Crazy how each person can go through their own experiences and they can be entirely different than the next person. Much love and respect to you and your family!!❤️

I was once told that making love wasn't about the physical touch of sex, you can make love without having sex. I had to think about that for a long time and to grab hold of it, but when I did it opened my mindset on a whole new level of love & love making. It's not at all about the performance of the act it's about the conversations that can come out of just being together whether it's being intimate or just lying in bed holding hands, talking, crying & laughing. Also, I always had two rules for my bedroom. One there would never be a TV in there A TV can be a make it or break it moment for a relationship, now I did have a radio in my room because a little music can go a long ways in a romance. Two, never fight in the bedroom, it's a safe haven where you come together in love & rest only. Loads of Love!

Intimacy during pregnancy and postpartum were pretty easy for me, but I’m also a very physical person (my love language is physical touch). There is such a wide range of emotions and feelings surrounding pregnancy and postpartum intimacy and that’s ok!

I really appreciate Andrew bringing up pregnancy and having young children being a phase in the relationship and that those things don't have to define the entire relationship, it can just define that phase. My boyfriend is on deployment right now, which is a phase, but being in it feels like FOREVER while I am in it. This was a very good reminder for me in that. Thank you.

I can totally relate to feeling like my body is no longer my own while pregnant. With my two pregnancies, but the time I got to my 3rd trimester I would just sit in the shower and cry. Most women don’t talk about the negatives of being pregnant but I appreciate you being completely open about this. Doesn’t mean you or any other woman isn’t grateful for the gift of being able to carry a child, but there are some not so fun things to the process.

I think for both marriage and babies, being "ready" has to do a lot with being ready to quit being selfish. When you're ready to stop doing things only for yourself, you can fully commit to a spouse; when you and your spouse are ready to stop being just you guys, you can commit to adding to the family equation.

Question, what is your guys opinions on the variants of men being turned on visually by other women when the man is in a relationship with a woman? I just am super curious on people’s opinions on this since I just experienced an extreme upset from being in a relationship w a guy who was obsessed with every women online saving instagram pics etc & in person gawking flirting. Trying to now just get a healthy perspective for myself moving forward because it hurt soo bad & I don’t want to be with anyone that is like that. But trusting that there are (if there are?) men who are just wanting to be with one woman & not going to think about others isn’t what I’m believing right now. Thanks so much. God bless all ur beautiful family so inspiring:)!!

The make up sex comes after the apology/ reconciliation. It’s the passion that comes along with realizing that neither one of us want to fight and our silly argument isn’t worth the heartache. Who wants to continue an argument when you can just say I’m sorry and embrace your partner and be intimate together. Also, Andrew…Shawn did say she wants to try the make up sex approach in the future so keep that in mind ❤️

Loved this!!! I completely agree with y'all! The world wants us to look at sex in a different way than it was meant to be. God made sex to be shared between husband and wife. When it's not done in that way, I agree with Shawn, it's backwards. When a man waits on a woman til marriage, it puts value there. I felt valued that my husband waited on me. And after 21 years of marriage,it just gets better and better!!! Great show!!

You can't help your hormones. They guide us like crazy. It may be our body's way of protecting us and the baby and everything else. I feel pregnancy is like a rest stage, whether people understand that or not and it's nature's way of of slowing a woman down so she's not overactive in order to protect the child. The way she gets tired, moody etc. Hopefully the guy understands that.

Sex is fun, but it is the easiest part of the relationship. There's a reason that the divorce rate is over 50% in this country, and it's not because of sex; sadly, in such an era of narcissism, couples forget that their roles are to be there for one another, that their days should start by asking "What can I do today to make her day better?" If couples can think of one another first, the phases are survivable. Easy? No. Worth it? Oh, yes.
