Most lodges that are accessible to animals, like this one, use salt and no other chemicals in their pools. And if you're worried about the salinity then, pools treated with salt have low salinity levels, so it wouldn't be a problem. These lodges are situated in reserves, which are protected areas, so they would never do anything to harm the fauna or flora...that would be illegal.

Oh, for heaven's sake! If they had gotten out of the pool to get their visitor a bucket of water, where do you think the water would have come from? Besides, where would they get a bucket? Call room service? Also, a puny bucket of water would have been a joke to that huge elephant. Then, there's the issue of approaching a wild animal, and hoping they don't take your approach as a threat. This couple did the right thing by staying where they were, keeping their voices down, and making no moves that might have alarmed their visitor!🐘 Lastly, it is apparent that this was not this elephant's first visit to this "watering hole" and, I'm sure, won't be their last. Next time, they may find the entire herd having an evening drink, and/or wake up to find the pool water down by more than a couple inches. The resort should install some spy cams to catch the fun!❤🐘❤🐘❤

What an amazing experience. But it would’ve been nice if they had slowly backed out and walked away, so all of the other elephants, waiting for water could have also walked up and had a good drink.

Ewww! Wouldn't that pool water be treated, and wouldn't that treatment be distasteful to a wild animal? Well, I guess not, because there he was, drinking, without displaying any sign of distaste. What a cool thing to be a part of.
