Baby Toucans: day 1 to 100 days old!

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Yesterday was a VERY special day...Jerry and Frank turned 100 days old! We know many of you have been following their journey online and we wanted to spread the #ToucanLove with you all. Watch as Jerry and Frank grow from day old hatchlings to they're beautiful, strong selves now at 100 days old!
As the days go by, Jerry and Frank are adapting to nature and are readying themselves for release. They are growing and will soon need a larger, more remote enclosure to ensure their survival in the wild!
TRR has been raising funds to build this new enclosure at our Release Site. Many #WildlifeWarriors have donated generously for Jerry and Frank's new home, but we are only 20% to our goal with only 4 DAYS LEFT to raise the funds. Help Jerry and Frank today by donating to help us build their new enclosure! But they still need YOUR help so they can be flying freely amongst the trees! :)

Day 16 I loved the most only because I’m the kind of guy who is a paleontologist and from my perspective I see them as baby pterosaurs instead of modern birds

I'm considering getting a Toucan or Raven as a best friend. I'm a medically discharged veteran so I'm always home and would love these fellas! Just wonder where I'd take them to learn how to fly. I'm currently building a home for my feathered buddy inside a huge tree in my backyard enclosed by a huge square gate with freedom to fly in the house through the skylight. :) Editing.. I plan to adopt a young birb if the opportunity arises.

If you are looking at getting a toucan as a pet, be absolutely sure you do your research first. They have some very specific nutrition requirements and are difficult to care for. Several KZreadrs that have toucans outright say they do not recommend them as pets. Check out channels for 2can.tv or BirdTricks for some more information.

Thank you for your comment! Here in Costa Rica it is actually illegal to sell or own any native fauna. It is a core part of TRR's mission to protect wildlife from the illegal pet trade - as this is something we combat every day. We encourage you to never participate in the illicit trade of wildlife. We do not condone having any wildlife as a pet, but if you decide to house an animal, please make sure you are participating in ethical practices and ALWAYS do your homework before buying exotic wildlife.
