Our Story:
We are six years into a seven year effort of transforming 20 acres of "Piney Grove" in Northwest Florida into our dream homestead/mini farm to be filled with animals and joy. We plan to have a variety of miniature critters on our pastures, raise free-range chickens, grow fish in our pond, garden, plant fruit and nut trees, and harvest wild game. Our goal is
to escape the stresses of corporate life and embrace all that country living
has to offer as we enter the next chapter of our lives. Follow along on our
journey!

We just bought property up in the north FL panhandle area. We had 4 acres in Jax but our farm was growing and it was time to get out of the city and to a larger property. I love how hilly it is in the upper panhandle! We have Kunekune pigs, Registered Nigerian Dwarfs and Lamancha goats, chickens, guineas, ducks, etc. Happy to see others in Florida living the country life!

Wow! You're way ahead of us, but we'll get there. Deb would have animals tomorrow, but we both still have full time jobs and can't commute that far every day. @@PineyGroveHomestead Thats only because we lived on a mini farm in Jax in a rural residential area which allowed farm animals lol.. we just bought the bigger property which already has a 78ft metal barn and 3 other out buildings and 2 carports. We wanted to start frm scratch and live in an rv while we built a house but found this fixer upper property a few days after it hit the market, really cheap that has plenty of room to build. So we will tear down the old mobile (the fixer upper part) and build a house after we are settled. It has two deep wells and three power poles, which is crazy, lol. We had to fix one of the wells because it had a tree trunk growing around a pipe and broke it, out in one of the pastures. Its got mostly pasture, some woods and a few ponds, that I think have merged into one big swamp lol. I like what you guys have done with your property so far!

I already watched the two videos that you had "recently" posted about changes you both had to go through regarding your new house build, what a mess, you had to endure, just to be able to build your Dream home 🙄. Then, i decided to start, from the beginning. I do that alot, especially when i start a new channel, to kinda get a feel about the channel, what the ppl are like etc. Im planning on sticking around this one, Chad (Doss Farms) was right, this is a great channel, with a couple of great folks and i look forward to seeing what all you two youngins, are up too. Beautiful piece of property, not sure how I'd do with the year round heat, but it would be nice to try. We're trying to imitate your ambiance up here in Northern Ontario. Also Luc sent me. 🙂 Watching your library of videos now. 🏝👍❄️🍻🌴

Thanks for stopping by. It's pretty hot in the summer, but it's pleasant November to March. We get a lot of Canadian "snow birds" in our area. Take care. Brad&Deb

Year round heat. NW Florida gets seasons. The weather is actually awful for growing as it gets below freezing then warm then freeze then warm over and over.

It's been a busy 4 years, but we are making progress towards getting the property the way we want it. Thanks for watching and stay tuned as we have a lot planned for 2022! Brad&Deb

If there is a Walmart near by I don’t want to be anywhere near it.

Well, I love the big box stores! I don’t have to visit 20 shops to get what I need.

Thanks guys. My wife and I have similar backgrounds as you and Brad and are in a similar place in life that you were when you started your KZread journey. Any advice on whether KZread is worth it and how I should start sharing out journey or not?

Go for it. It's a lot more work than it looks like to grow a channel and make enough to be worth it but it can be done. We are proof as we are unlikely KZreadrs!

Yes...it has been an adventure. I just logged my 1000th hour of work on the property recently, but honestly, most of it has been fun because I'm working for me, on my time, doing what I want to our land!! Makes a big difference when you're putting in the hours. Good luck on your property search....you'll know when you find the right piece of land. Brad&Deb

Now cannot afford anything. Real estate agent screwed me out of what I wanted in the remote NW. now I see 1 acre lot last go for $35,000 when 5 years ago it was $5,000. It’ll never get cheaper. I wish no one else would move here.
